After hitting a few shots with the Chrome Tour X, I can see why Callaway is offering the trip diamond.  The Chrome Tour X spins like crazy with 9 iron and wedges.

 

You would need to be really good controlling spin to make that ball work.

Anyone heard more on the TD? I thought it was slated for late Jan release here in Aus but can’t find hardly anything online about it at all. That one Johnny Wunder clip is about it.

Based on what I've seen personally and a chat with one of Callaway's Tour Truck bubbas about reactions from staffers that tested CTTD, here's what I can say with a measure of confidence.

While meant to compete with ProV1x Left Dash, it does differ from Left Dash in some notable ways.
CTTD is noticeably firmer than CTX, but not offensively so.
CTTD spin on full irons and wedges falls between CTX and CT, but I'd put it closer to CTX which surprised me very much.
CTTD spin on full irons and wedges is noticeably higher than CT, which again surprised me very much. To me, this is where CTTD differs from Left Dash the most. CTTD has less propensity to go KABOOM off irons and wedges than Left Dash. To me that's a good thing, but YMMV.

 

In summary, initially CTTD confused me a bit because I went in expecting it to be more similar to Left Dash than it turns out to be. Once past that initial fog, find it to present a very useful and unique option. Still too early to crown it the new ball of choice, though.
 

If you loved what Left Dash does off top end of your bag but found it caused you to give up too much spin/control in the lower half of the bag, CTTD may be exactly what you're looking for. As ever, only one way to know with certainty.

It was only 9 holes and the weather wasn't great, but the new triple diamond felt the same as the XLS. The XLS has been my gamer for a couple years.

SO this ball spins right between TOU and the X ball with irons. Spins the least with the driver.. I heard this from the "source" lol... Totally bummed was hoping it spun less with everything compared to the Tour ball.

I forgot balls today and bought a sleeve of the Chrome Tour. I did not like that ball compared to my normal Titleist LD. I still have hopes for the TD and will try them but definitely not jumping in with even a full dozen.

Yeah the CT really disappointed me when I tried them when they first came out. It's good but it wasn't the LS replacement people said it would be.

IMO Chrome Tour has far more in common with ProV1 than LD.

Agree.  To me the chrome tour was a higher flying pro v1.

Definitely knew it wasn't going to be like the LD but expecting more from the ball. Im very familiar with the ProV1 playing it often as well and it just didn't do it for me. Very plasticy feeling and not a lot of short game feel.

I just played triple diamond for two rounds at Fallen Oak. Played chrome tour and tour x all last year. Hard to say for sure, but seemed to fly higher on drives with less spin and wedges stopped just fine. I’ve tried left dash before but didn’t like it because of how clicky it was on short game shots.. didn’t have trouble with that on the triple diamond. Planning on playing triple diamond for the rest of the year.

Probably for the durability. I liked that LS ball but the cover shredded for me on any wedge shot.

Okay. Good to know. I don’t have issues with my wedges but now I got the RTZ so will see what happens. I also have like 5 boxes at home from Christmas so I’m sure I’ll be okay for a while

I played 1 round with 3d it was windy so hard to really judge numbers, but it seemed to have more spin in iron and chips than CT.  I don’t really know how the distance compares but I wasn’t going long or short so felt like distance was comparable to CT.   I really like the CT ball feel, and the 3d didn’t feel to firm/clicky so me.  Probably felt like a ProV1x

I played the 3D today for the first time. I played the CTX LS for the past couple years and loved it, but found both the Chrome Tour and the Chrome Tour X to be very bad fits for me. However the 3D seems like a really good ball. It was cold and breezy today, so the conditions weren't optimal for a test, but I found the ball to be a really good performer. Distances seemed good given the weather. Around the greens, it spun when I wanted and rolled out when I wanted. It did seem to get beat up a little sooner than I would have expected--nothing too bad but def more than the LS (I found wedge groove marks on the ball after one shot in particular). In the interest of offering a comprehensive test (😅), I did play a few shots off trees and cart paths. The ball lost all of those battles.

 

All in all, I am REALLY happy with this ball, because none of the other balls I've played this year have checked all the boxes.
