New Bushnell rangefinder for 2025?

Recommended Posts

Bushnell has had a hybrid rangefinder with GPS for many years. Not sure there is all that much more tech you can add to a rangefinder that would interest most golfers, most just want an accurate distance to the pin.

Believe their hybrid rangefinder has been discontinued for a couple years now. Like OP, I too would like to see Bushnell add some tech to their rangefinders like others have. The Garmin Z82 would have been amazing if not for all of the bugs/flaws it came with.

Yeah, exactly.  If Bushnell could implement their current technology/quality and add-in the GPS functionality of a Garmin or Precision Pro Titan Elite, that would be great.  I love the idea of being able to have the front/back/middle numbers along with the actual.  When you're between clubs, that info would be invaluable.

Was watching Ian Fraser's latest WITB video on his new channel and he said he couldn't discuss it publicly yet but said "there is something coming...Bushnell owns Foresight sports, there is something coming down the line with integration that will blow your guys minds".  This has me intrigued.  Maybe it could integrate your launch monitor data to incorporate more accurate club selection with your average trajectory compared to slope, along with the elements, etc.  Curious if anyone has heard what type of integration this could be?

I got this in my email. Don't know how it works. I updated my X3+ and connected my gc3 to the foresight app and didn't see anything about connecting Bushnell to foresight.  There was a new setting in my X3+ that said 88 club that I turned on. I assume that is related.

Interesting.  I imagine we will see a new release soon.  Thanks for the update.

What's interesting is it looks like a firmware update on the rangefinder enables the foresight launch monitor interaction. Not sure if there is any difference between the X3+ and X3+ link.

Foresight Sports GC3S LINK-Enabled Launch Monitor

Launch monitors can provide a ton of data about a golfer's swing, but it can be tough for amateurs to apply that knowledge on the course. Foresight Sports has teamed with Bushnell Golf on a combination GC3S monitor and Golf Pro X3 Link laser rangefinder package that aims to fix that. It starts with a My Bag assessment on the GC3S and Foresight app to learn the user's performance & tendencies with their clubs. That data is then synced with the Bushnell app and the rangefinder. Once done, the rangefinder will provide personalized club recommendations, Play As Distances that take into account the user's trajectory, distances that are tailored to the environmental conditions at the time and location they are playing, and personalized club dispersion patterns overlaid on the course maps so players can make smarter choices. In short, it's like having a personal caddy on the course, along with all the benefits of a traditional rangefinder and simulation-ready launch monitor.

When was the X3+Link rangefinder released?  Was this the same time last year as the X3+ or was this just released recently?  Curious if they'll have a totally new flagship launch monitor release or if the link is it.

Looks to me like it is the same as the X3+ with link added via software update  The documentation was the same when I looked 2 days ago(in fact it was still the X3+ user manual with no link mentioned). Outside of the main picture on the product page all of the pictures on the 'X3+ Link' page show the X3+. The only thing different is a little blurb about the link enabled technology.

Also, I see that the link feature was added to the X3 and X3+ via firmware update which makes me believe it is fully a software update. Once I update my X3+ there was a setting on the Bushnell that said 'club on/off' that I guess would suggest a club based off my launch monitor data.

Looks like when you go to "my bag" in the foresight app there is a option to analyze your club. You hit some shots and it uses that to determine your club to suggest on the range finder when you're out golfing. The Bushnell basically adjusts the slope yardage based on your flight characteristics. If you are a low spin, low ball hitter your slope adjusted yardage should theoretically be different than a high ball/high spin player even if you hit the ball the same yardage.

Here’s the MyBag Setup Guide

https://support.foresightsports.com/mybag-setup-guide-0

Bushnell Golf Mobile App will also be needed and linked to your Foresight account.

I agree the X3+ and X3+ Link are identical once the X3+ is updated. Question is what’s the difference between an X3 and an X3+ after an update? If nothing, finding a deal on an X3 might be the way to go. Even the current price of $491 for an X3+ on Amazon is still a bit steep.

I would guess there would still be no wind data on the X3. Which I find kind of useless on the X3+ personally.

Anyone know if you can use a non-bushnell/foresight launch monitor for the data? Or is it only available if you have a bushnell/foresight launch monitor?

Has to be Bushnell/Foresight because the numbers come straight from the launch monitor to the Foresight app. There’s no way to enter numbers manually.

Stopped by the Foresight/Bushnell booth at the PGA Show yesterday.

V6 is going away and being replaced by a smaller unit with a rechargeable battery and slope. There will no longer be any non-slope units.

V6 shift will stay the same except for new color. Going away from Bushnell orange to Foresight blue.

New unit that will have GPS for front/middle/back.

X3+ and X3+ Link are identical functionality once the X3+ firmware is updated.

I'm excited to replace my aging Garmin Z82 with a device showing GPS data within a single device instead of linking two devices to show that data.

Interesting evolution, but late?

I've been using Garmin's Approach Z82 Laser/GPS with temp and wind function integrated with the Garmin golf app, along with Garmin Fenix 6X golf watch, on iPhone, since 2020.  The Z82 is +/- $600, the watch +/-$900 and the app free.

The Garmin app provides performance, course and club/caddie and handicap for free, which I don't use.  I can't see what actual golf benefit would come from the suggested Bushnell rangefinder integration with Foresight...sounds good, though.

Pro X3's element's function is nice, but it's late, since I've been using that in Z82.  X3 is a tad more detailed offering altitude.  Add the X3+ Link - subscription, it costs more than Z82.

I don't doubt there is a sliver market, but then there's still this: The vast majority of golfers can't afford or won't buy a new Laser, much less a LM.

Do you know where the GPS data is coming from? Is it from the rangefinder itself, or connected to a phone?

Can't say for sure, but it's likely similar to my Z82.

Approach Z82 provides Laser & GPS.  The GPS data comes from a Garmin satellite connection.  The app is where the data is stored and configured for learning purposes.

Are you saying Garmin Z82 does not have built-in GPS?

I want another unit that shows GPS data inside of the reticle instead of having to link another device such as a phone or a watch, .i.e the Garmin Z30.

I have the VoiceCaddie SL3 but you still have to look outside the reticle to see those numbers.

Some info on the new tour hybrid model being released in April.

image.png.744615dd85708cc6cc7a1b1f1499b870.png

“Tour Hybrid revolutionizes the way golfers access distance information, offering an unprecedented level of insight,” said Derek Schuman, Senior Brand Manager at Bushnell Golf. “By integrating laser and GPS technologies, the device allows golfers to view front, center, and back distances to the green, perfectly aligned with the precise distance to the pin from the laser. This unmatched accuracy underscores Bushnell Golf’s unwavering commitment to innovation, ensuring our users have the best distance information to elevate their game and achieve peak performance on the course.”

The new Tour Hybrid helps in making correct club selections by simultaneously displaying the lasered distance to the pin and the GPS-derived front, center, and back yardages. Its integrated GPS also delivers slope-adjusted distances when enabled, offering invaluable guidance for cart-path-only or blind shots.
