2025 Maltby Releases

I was on the golf works website today and looking at a few questions I noticed mentions of a new FDI with stronger lofts and a "graphic" update to the STI 2. Just wondering if anyone has seen pics or has heard of any other products that they might be releasing. I am in in the middle of planning a half set for next year and the idea of a cleaner looking FDI is intriguing. I have built two sets of the STI 2's and was really impressed with their value for money and both friends that built sets really enjoy them.

 

Looking forward to seeing what is coming from golfworks for 2025

New wedges, KE4 Forged, Ts3.5, new driving irons more appearance like to the TS series irons, updated STI and updated MPF shafts.  There was talk of putters also but not sure if that will be out in 2025

DBM in TS3 and TS4.  There is a single picture of the redone Sti2 on the clubmaking forum - much cleaner and does not have the Maltby lettering on the sole.

The TS-UI as we will call it, will have a similar face profile to the FDI, and we will use the same materials in it’s construction.  We have moved the adjustable weight to the toe, but will use the same screw weights.  Overall we are confident it will have the same fantastic playability and feel as the FDI, but with a refreshed look that more matches the look of the other TS Series irons.

Ohhhhhh I'm glad I held off on building a TS1 iron into a driving iron. I cannot wait for this.

That looks fantastic. A next-level tuning move by Maltby would be to make a toe weight port with weights and a wrench in the shape of his logo. There are some putters with custom weight wrenches.

Interesting.  Britt says new versions of the PTM-5, "mainly color and alignment aid changes."  I just knew someone would steal my color and alignment changes to the PTM -5CS.  See picture below.

I have a set of current STI2's. They play pretty well for me.  I actually shot my lowest round with them. If they looked like the new ones and didn't have 'Maltby' on the sole, I'd be all over them.

I have never hit Maltby, is Maltby just as good as the big names? Are there prices compare to Sub70 and Takoma?

Quality is on par with any manufacturer. Price is competitive or better than the other DTC brands. They look incredible and they perform as described. I’ve hit basically every top level iron the past 5-6 years and the Maltby irons are every bit as good as any of them.

Most people in the know say that Maltby clubs just don't photograph well and that they look better in person.  I describe my PTM -5CS putter's color and alignment aids as Picasso-esque.

Maltbys are original designs.

 

Most DTC clubs are generic heads rebranded

The irons and wedges are as good if not better than the big names, prices are the best in golf for quality gear, period.

 

Most of the big names are finally starting to catch up on Maltby's TS1 iron sole design from 2019, I think srixon was the only one that had noticeable camber at the time.

 

Resale value is terrible if that's your thing haha.

It can look that way if you are accounting for it on a percentage basis, depending on the other parties involved.  But if you look at it in pure dollar terms, you're better off with something from the Maltby universe.

 

7 club set of Maltby TS1-IM is $677 with DG shafts and Crossline Black grips.
7 club set of TM P770 with DG Mid 115 is $1400

 

Price for average condition set of P770 at 2nd Swing is about $790, using that as a guide, you're down about $610.

Take the TS1-IM, pull the heads and sell them for $100 and you're ahead, plus you have seven DG shafts you can use in another set of heads.

 

You're down 85% with the Maltby's, not accounting for the shaft value, but you're ahead in actual dollars.
