GT3 vs GT2 vs QI10 Tour 5 Woods

I am considering going back to playing a 5 wood for specific longer courses so these are the 3 clubs that I have been looking at recently, I would very much appreciate the thoughts of anyone who has hit any or all of these 5 woods, they all appear to have a compact head size of approx. 150cc which I prefer, my intention is to play a 5 wood at a shorter length of 41.75" or 41.50".

Same boat as you, a few years ago I had a fitting for irons and wanted a top end of the back 5 wood/Hybrid as was fitted into a 2 iron. Well it was a fun adventure and I have hit some career shots with it but overall the consistency wasn't there.  Recently went in and tried both Titleist's and the Cally AI TD. Didnt want to hit the TM.  Cally was actually too long for what I was wanting and the GT3 and GT2 both looked and felt great. Just seemed to tug the GT3 left more often and was a bit lower ball flight than what I was looking for. GT2 was hitting in that 235-245 carry range I was wanting. I ended up with GT2 Mitsu 1K BLK and have it turned up +.75 and fade setting. Only had it 2 weeks and have liked it on the range and have played 2 rounds and have only hit 2 shots during those rounds. Both were 235ish shots and both hit and stuck the green. I know it wont always be like that but I really like the GT2 and a happy I went that route. Good luck

I still have both Stealth 2 Tour and TSR3 5 woods …….

 

TM is a monster, I play it like a 4 wood (-2o loft). It lauches high with less spin, and its really long.

 

TSR3 is great 5 wood, spins more than TM, so, for me its shorter. But holds the greens like a mid iron.

 

For me, if I want to use the longest FW I can hit from the turf, I use TM. If I want something to hold greens, I prefer the TSR3.

I have the Qi10 tour and have tested the GT3.  Qi10 tour is hotter, slightly lower spin slightly fade biased.  GT3 was more neutral and spun more so it's ideal off the deck and still pretty good off the tee.  Can't go wrong with either but if you want something a bit more anti-left, Qi10 tour is the way to go, IMO.

Thanks for all your replies, I think I will try to find somewhere nearby that will allow me to test out both the GT3 and QI10 Tour, so is the small weight near the toe on the QI10 Tour swappable for a heavier weight to increase swingweight at a shorter playing length?

Yup mainly to dial in swing weight. I had both the S2+ and Qi10 Tour and I’d say if you don’t mind putting lead tape to take care of the SW and don’t really care about the cleaner crown on the Qi10 I’d say go for the S2+ and save some $.

I have the Qi10 5 wood and would suggest to try the weight at different points on the track. It definitely changes ball flight and feel/sound. Mine is set at 16 degrees and it’s plenty long enough for what I need it for.

I’m giving the Mizuno ST-G 5W a pretty good look right now and it’ll likely replace a 19* hybrid.  
 

It’s compact, sits fairly open - especially at -1, has a nice little fade bias and performs off the tee and off the deck.  
 

Qi10 tour was runner up…

I keep bouncing between Sim OG 15* and GT2 21* vs a TM BRNR Mini 13.5 and Stealth 2+ 5 wood. Both are exceptional combos. Some rounds the 7 wood spins too much and flies ~ 10 yards short of target, and other rounds I miss having the mini driver off the tee. 

 

Im comfortable hitting the stealth 2+ 5 wood 225 with a fade and 240+ with a draw, and the Mini driver off can go 250-270 carry depending on the shot needed, but there is something about the 7 wood from ~ 215-220 yards that is magical and much more needed than a 260+ fairway wood bomber shot. S

 

Still currently testing the 3 wood/7 wood combo vs Mini driver/5 wood. Both set ups have significant pros/cons right now.

I have the Qi10 Tour 5w and love it. Mine is set up to be 1 notch lower (.75 lower loft and 2 degrees open) and .75" short for control. It's hot off the face already so distance is not an issue but why i love it is the shorter shaft and 2 degrees open keeps it pretty anti left

 

I have preferred the Qi10 Tour over the previous Stealth 2+ and Stealth +

 

Never hit the Titleist fairways so I cant help you there

I play mini driver and 5w all year and it's worked out great for me. Last year i had a 7w and loved it. 7w was the easiest club I've ever had to hit. Heavier low/low shaft kept it form spinning up too much for me

 

I'm trying to find a way to get a 7w back in the bag but i think having the 4h for that loft is more versatile for me

I saw the Mizuno ST-G 5 wood yesterday and it looked fantastic with its smaller head profile with an open face angle plus the face looked pretty deep, I am definitely going to test them all head to head next week and will report back on the results.

been bouncing between 5 wood and 7 wood a few weeks with different set ups and the decision is in and damn its working so well....

 

Titleist GT2 5 wood,  A1 setting playing 41.5" with a +2 gram weight and a Diamana D+ Limited 80TX - hitting my 240 number on the nose with a nice high spinny flight I can hit either direction

I was in the same boat few months ago and I ended up with TSR/GT 5wood and 7 wood. I tried Ping 430 woods and couldn't get over the sound and Callaway was good but I loved the flight and numbers of the GT line.
