Screen attachment to angle iron questions

Hi everyone, working on rebuilding my sim room and I’m getting ready to order the screen, but want to verify my head is in the correct space.  I built the frame out of 2 x 4 material and plan on attaching the screen utilizing angle iron and bungees.  Has anyone done something similar?  Curious what bungees you’d recommend/used, as well as I how much smaller the screen is than the opening.  I have heard 4” short of your total width and height.  For example, if total opening height is 115 and your width is 185, I’d be ordering a screen 111 x 181.  Picture below for reference, appreciate any thoughts

This makes sense. Plus, the bungees come in various lengths. You can also use more or less to secure the screen and fine tune the rebound. Maybe find a way to cover the angle iron to avoid balls blasting back. 
 

I used a Carl’s screen with metal poles and had about 3-4 inches and it worked well.

I think you're on the right track for the screen size. Regarding the attachment method, if your screen has grommets you can use ball bungees or even just zip ties. If not then ball bungees with tarp clips work great:

Got the screen in today and hung it immediately.  I attached all sides using zip ties, no bungees.  I’m hitting from 8-9 feet from the screen and the ball comes right back to the front of the mat.  Overall really pleased, just need to do some finishing around the edges and order a foam wedge for the bottom. 
 

I had bought my previous screen from GungHo golf and used bungees and tarp clips.  I have to say, I was hoping the screen material would be an upgrade with the Carl’s Premium, but it seems pretty comparable.  I got 3 and a half years out of the GungHo one, my guess is this will be similar.

I tried zip ties and they work for a little while. The the bottom ones will probably eventually get brittle & break. I used elastic bungie cord rope around the whole screen when I redid my screen recently. Just wove it from the screen grommets & the frame.

Thanks for the heads up, I figured they may wear over time and break.  Ill see how it goes for a bit and switch over to bungees if it’s happening repeatedly.

My screen is roughly 18 feet wide by 12 feet tall.  Bungees were worthless on mine.

Everyone says to use moving blankets, but they get destroyed and turned into swiss cheese in no time.  I've hit 1000's of balls against this and this blanket doesn't have a scratch on it.  

 

Just hung with 2 bungees angled away from each other to pull the top of the blanket tight, resting in the hitting area of the screen.

Thank you for taking the time to post this with links and pictures, extremely helpful!  I am going to rework it with your tips, I also need to move my projector back slightly and dial in the ratio aspects….which I need to research, because I’m clueless.  I have a plan to put a black border around it to cover up all the connections to the screen….but I couldn’t resist firing it up…..

Nearly done, ordered a custom size foam wedge for the bottom, I’ll wrap in fabric to match the black border.  Still struggling with the ratio setting for the projector too….
