I got my swing speed to jump 3-4mph through some stretching/muscle building and switching to the Axiom 75's.   I'm getting close to 80mph with my 7-iron MKII.  Mostly a mid penetrating ball flight

The only Axioms Srixon will offer direct is 105 S and 125 X.  Neither will be in the fitting cart…

Can anyone chime in as to how PGA SS is allowed (without penalty) to display these on their floor when the embargo date hasn't even been lifted in the US?  Much less the actual official retail release which is at least the 24th of January?

not sure why this is so unbelievable

People don't realize that embargos are like politics and can be highly flexible and even weaponized by manufacturers. My custom ZXi7 set was complete about three weeks ago and awaiting shipment. Probably already shipped by now but I switched to a blade combo set based on the official release date. Oops, my bad.

Release dates have been fuzzy since the pandemic. I remember custom TSr drivers could be delivered before the release date after Titleist changed their policy.

They aren’t officially allowed to, but they did. I have an Edwin Watts close to me that does the same from time to time. If they get new products in, they usually just put them out as they don’t have a ton of “behind closed doors” stock space. Almost everything they have is out on the sales floor. For PGS SS, i’d assume someone was restocking the shelves one night before the next shift and accidentally put out the Zxi’s. I’d doubt they would actually sell them to you if you tried to checkout. Like how the clear tag on the wall right behind the mid irons seems to have no price or product info in it from the corner that I can see.

They aren’t.  Obviously a screwup by store employee.  I suspect they will get a nicely worded letter from Srixon or call from their rep.

Ping and Titliest are really the only two I haven’t seen let their retailers get away with this occasionally.

ive seen all other oems product on shelves early a week to couple weeks early before locally.  I asked one time and the retailer said the oem was already shipping pre orders and staff orders so they had the green lighted to sell.

Not doubting you, but doubting them.

Product arriving before embargo or PAR dates usually are covered in bright Red labels. DO NOT SELL or DISPLAY BEFORE xx/xx

honestly the salesman had no clue what they were.  The price tag was displaying a sale MKII.  I have a feeling I could have purcahsed them for the MKII price and walked out of store.

Yeah unsure.  It’s was the mkii release woods that were on the shelves early.

ive seen callaway irons (ti fusion) and odyssey putters out early frequently.

Callaway is one where the rep probably doesn’t care.  I know ours doesn’t.  Anything to help his sales totals hes all for.  Ha

Having run a few big box stores, you get what you pay for on the labor side. There's a set workflow -- boxes come in, unpack them, put them on the shelves in roughly the right place, go home. What are all these weird extra red labels? Not my problem, better peel those off before I rack this lot as usual I guess.

How do you like them? Did you have the MKII or OG version by chance?

I did have the z745’s. If you go back a page or two I put some comparison pics up of the two. The zxi seem a thinner sole and more compact but overall similar in shape to the mk 2s. Feel wise they are as you would expect from Srixon. I tried mizuno, titleist t100 and 150, Taylor made p7 mc and to me Srixon zxi felt the best. I was tempted going in to go with the titleist just for something different and I love the look but in the end the Srixon just felt and performed better and I don’t regret the decision one bit. Hope you all manage to get your hands on them soon!

I worked at Golf Galaxy for close to a year and could count on 1 hand how many reps came into the store from all manufactures combined.. And all my friends are reps for surf brands. Its night and day the difference between the two. My friends are in shops everyday of the week, local and out of state. Maybe a big box retailer is different since most of the buying/selling takes place from corporate.

I'd have a hard time believing any rep from any golf company knows at any point what's on the shelf at a PGA SS or Golf Galaxy.

Also hard to really compare industries. I have a buddy who runs his own surf board brand (AVID golfer) and just chatting with him, it is way different than the golf industry. Even the way they respond to people and how they talk is different.

You are pretty much right on mark.  Most if not all the ordering for GG and PGA's go through a corporate buyer and the in store manager doesn't do any of it.   That said, in my area I do know the GG Manager does frequently see a couple of the big reps, if for nothing else just to conduct some staff training/education sessions or help with any questions they may have.  Definitely not as often as they see the green grass accounts.

I think you're spot on.   At the big boxes the buying and product placement decisions are being made higher up the chain.

I'd think that reps are spending most of their time at the independents and green grass shops as that's likely where their bonuses lie.   Maybe they get something for doing an education session or fitting days at a big box, but otherwise the only reason I could see would be for something like violating a MAP.

Man I love release SZN and seeing all these other manufacturers dropping their new stuff is making me even more hyped for Srixon's drop. Oogling the irons on the AU site isn't helping matters either. 🤣
