Where is everyone making the switch in the combo of the ZXi5 to the ZXi7? I'm thinking at 7 iron, but might order both 7irons, also when combining these two, what is everyone doing with the lofts? Leaving stock or going to match one or the other? Thanks

I change at the 8 iron.  I asked the zxi5 to be bent to the 7 lofts.  The gap seems to be ok.  Probably have more gap from 8 to 9 and 9 to PW than from the 7 to 8

I currently have a set of Z585/785's split at 5/6 irons.  Looking to upgrade to the ZXi series this year.  Thinking as father time marches on I need to split at 7/8.  Forgiveness is not an issue for me and I can't really see myself with full ZXi5 set from an optics standpoint in scoring clubs, but hard to turn down more distance.  With that in mind, has anyone jacked up the loft on ZXi7 to ZXi5 spec and seen distances being roughly equal?  I know there is some technology in the ZXI5 that allows for more face flex, but is it appreciable when lofts are the same?  One or two more yards wouldn't be worth trade-off for a the smaller sole/head and cleaner look.

I would do the opposite, bend the zxi5 weak to match the zxi7 if necessary.

the zxi7 already have some offset at address and are on the lower launch and spin side compared to their peers.

I made mine between 7,8.    I went with 5,6,7 in the ZXi5.   And the 8,9,PW, AW in the Zxi7.

Any sense yet for forgiveness between the two sets?  I am not a fan of the i230’s (own a set) and looking at the Srixon.

Tough to give a thorough review yet after only 2 range sessions, but from what I saw on my misses on the toe, the pings are definitely more forgiving. However, something about the shorter blade length on the ZX vs the i230 and in the fitting to the range sessions I hardly missed the middle.
Forgiveness aside, the feel with these Srixons is so pure. Night and day from the pings to me.

I have zxi7 and have played the other zx 7 models the last few cycles. I’ve never changed my specs or even hit on a monitor.

In was at a fitting studio hitting the other day and was hitting the zxi7 6 iron with the weird screw into head fitting contraption.. same shaft that I play and I was getting really long shots with extremely low spin… 4200 rpm.

is this normal with a fitting head? I haven’t played much with my new ones… and haven’t noticed any insane problems with distance over the last 4-5 years.

The fitting head should perform the same as the clubs you purchase it what is the purpose of a fit? What ball were you using? Hitting big hooks?

No purpose. Was there and a friend was getting fit so I was just curious. The balls were premium. Weird deal. I was like 4 down with a pretty acceptable path and good speed. No clue.

FWIW these irons look and feel incredible. Probably the best sensation I’ve gotten since I had a random set of cobra pro cb when they came out 15 years ago. I somehow had a really perfectly fit set of those.

I went to a Srixon/Cleveland fitting today and hit the ZXi4 and ZXi5 and they are by far the best feeling irons I've ever hit. Wasn't planning on buying irons this year, but these were amazing and might have to bite the bullet and order a combo set

Pretty bummed.  Ordered my combo set of 5 & 7's on the 14th of January.  Checked 2 weeks ago and they were to be shipped earlier this week.  It's Friday.  Checked again today and was told mid to late March.  All because of the Axiom shafts.

Anyone else have the same shipping delay?

I asked a few days ago, but does anyone know if srixon reps can order the u-h heads?  I like to play a heavier head and would love to avoid tip weights

I picked up a stock set slightly used with C Taper 120 in them and MCC +4 and they are still D3/D4 swing weights. Not sure you really need U-H heads on these. With standard grips they should be close to D4 stock with 120-130 gram shafts.

I’m using stock length, z cord midsize with a couple wraps, and tour v 10 130 which is a little higher balance point.

I have a og zx7 8 iron head (non u-h) and I needed to add 6 grams to get to d which is the minimum I want to play.

Yep. Don’t blame you then. I wont play anything under D3 anymore. Im convinced I can feel the difference between d2 and d3+. Not sure if true, but I detest anything under D2 and can tell immediately.

Can you compare the ZXi4 vs the ZXi5? Is there a noticeable difference in forgiveness? What other irons would you compare the ZXi4 to? Thanks in advance!

@Lefty87 Honestly, I could probably play either or. For me the differences between the 2 were very minimal, but the zxi4 felt a little softer and more forgiving at least to me. For reference, I'm a 15 HC and would probably go all zxi4's in a set, but could easily see a combo (zxi4 5/6/7 and zxi5 8/9/pw/aw). The thing I love is when you look down at all the models, they look very comparable in size relative to other brands.

As far as comparison's go, that's a tough one. None of the irons I've hit this year have compared to the feel of the srixons. The fitter was telling me that this is the first generation of them using a forging that is similar to Muira and they're on a 2 year cycle with clubs. I like the fact that they do this as I don't feel like I'm missing any new tech the following year. I would recommend you go hit them an compare yourself, everyone's game is different.

Anyone put the srixons head to head with the new mizuno irons? Specially the ZXI4/5 vs. the HM/HM pro's. How do they compare in feel, sound and accuracy?

I'm probably going to go hit both of these and see how they stack up against each other

Most manufacturers at least try to make their releases look different, in particular with their irons.

Srixon isn't even trying. ZX7.. ZX7II.. ZX7i.. please.

I think sometimes manufacturers can get in their own way trying to improve just to improve. Way back in the day, Cleveland made some really good game improvement irons and awesome wedges. The TA5/TA7 irons were absolutely fantastic. The 588 wedge was a classic. But Cleveland felt they kept having to innovate and make something better. They went down a path of increasingly bad iron releases and gimmicky wedge releases (like the Carbon Metal Matrix wedges).  Popularity declined with each release and they faded into an afterthought in irons.

You're right in that Srixons haven't changed significantly in the ZX line. I'd go back further and say the 545/745 line through the current line has been iterative more a major leap.

I think it's more about getting people into the tent than trying to convince current users they need to upgrade. (Though they do get guys like me who've been completely happy with my irons yet, talk themselves into upgrading more than they should)

I got my first 18 in yesterday with the ZXi7 irons. I didn't have a great day from a ball striking perspective but the long irons were the stand out performers. We have two long par 3's that were playing 205 and 210 yesterday. On one hole, I hit it to 5 feet and missed the birdie putt and on the other I hit it a bit thin and it still managed to find the front of the green. The feel from that striped 4 iron that I hit to 5 ft. was amazing.

Hmp are hotter off the face.  Feel goes to srixon. Dispersion left to right and front to back srixon.  Distance to hmp.  I play 565/765 combos and love them. I'm thinking of adding hmp in my 4i build due to the hot face and distance. Srixon is easier on the eyes too.  Classy iron.
