Tried to order a set of ZXi7 with DG TI X100 a few weeks ago but the shafts were out of stock. Was told they would be in stock today. Checked back and they told me they won't be getting them until 6/7 now. I'd rather not wait that long so willing to pay more to have someone build up a custom set. Does anyone have a good builder they know who I could order a custom set from (ZXi5 4-5 iron, Zxii7 6-PW) and get built up within the next few weeks?

My local independent shop might be able to help you out.  Feel free to send me a dm with your specs and I’ll see what I can do for you.

They do fantastic work!

I had a fitting and hit several different models from Mizuno, Titleist and Cleveland but the ZXi’s came out best for me. Consequently, I’ve just ordered a ZXi4/5 combo. Getting the 4 and 5 irons in the ZXi4 (the 5 iron will be one degree weak) and then 6-PW in the ZXi5 with default lofts. Adding Cleveland CBX4 wedges 48, 54 and 60 to complete the set. I’m just an average golfer but I think I’ll notice some substantial gains over my 15 year old TM Burner irons!

Currently on my 4th set of the ZXI series irons. Ive been doing some testing with the zxi5 and zxi7 full sets, and a couple combo sets with different shafts/specs/loft/lies.

Ive finally found Nirvana on this set up. The best feeling/performing set Ive had in years and an incredible value as well.

4,5,6 ZXI5, (5 and 6 irons 1 weak) = 22, 25, 28

7-G ZXI7 (9, PW, Gap 1 strong) = 32, 36, 40, 45, 50

+ .25” = D4 swing weight on the 4-9 irons, D5 on PW,GW

Project X LZ 6.0 hard stepped 1X (a shaft Ive hated in other irons that just works in this set for me)

The confidence to pull 4 iron from 230 yards and not try to manufacture a 5 wood swing is PRICELESS

Looks a groove low on the face.  haha, just teasing.  That's an unreal distance for a 4 iron.  Think that's a smooth 16.5 FW for me.

So you got 4 sets of ZXI's?

Not now. Sold off 3 already. On my 4th set now. I think I found the right set up this time though.

tons of personal use discount deals around the Scottsdale area this year on offerup. Been able to buy cheap and resell here without issue through the testing process.

I just ordered similar. ZXi5 4-5 iron 1 deg weak, ZXi7 6-PW with 9 and PW both 1 deg stronger. Hoping the gapping is right otherwise will have to tweak them. Have been in AP2s or T100 the last decade so this will be a change.

For those that have custom ordered ZXi's, how has the build quality to spec been? I'm swing weight sensitive and will order my set at D4 with Steelfiber i110 plus 1/4" over standard. I'm not as concerned with loft and lies but I definitely want the swing weight to be spot on.

I was told they don’t build to swing weight but I’ve gotten them .25” long on multiple sets now and they’ve been D4 with PW and AW being D5

BUT steel fiber has been known to need significant head weight added to balance correctly

Thanks for the response! Yes, Steelfibers can be challenging to achieve heavier swing weights. I don't want to drop $1600 on a set of irons that come in at D2 or potentially lighter.

They won’t build to swing weight. So you can basically take the stock swing weight and add the appropriate swing weight point for the additional length. Mine have x100 +1/2” and they are D4/5.

Thank you for the info! If they won't build to swing weight I'm out. Titleist has to built to spec for years so I'll just stay with old faithful. It's disappointing because I really do like the ZX line of irons.

Man I’m still just not grooving with my ZXi’s. Not sure if it’s a shaft issue or what. I honestly feel like the face looks a hair closed at address, not sure if that’s a product of the offset or not. Anyone else see this?

Yup.  I try them every year and I struggle with hitting them a little thin and keeping the face open through impact.  This will be my third set in getting rid after a very brief trial.

it seem to be less of an issue off mats, but the on grass it always shows up

Long story short, I ended up getting a set of ZXi5's after a failed experiment with another set of irons. I was able to return the irons I didn't like under the Playability program. Nothing else really jumped out at me, so I got a set of ZXi5.  I've played the 5 series since the 565s, so I knew what I was getting into.  I still had my Mkii's but figured they could just because my practice set while I used the new ones in rounds.

But despite being the same specs, they just seem different to me. I can't my finger on why.  I took a split set to the range today and clearly hit my Mkii's better.  I was hitting consistent high draws with them.  And was pushy/hooky with the ZXi5's.

And honestly preferred the feeling of the MKiis. The ZXi5s' were sort of like a luxury sedan closing - slightly heavy clicky sound - but in a soft way.  The Mkii's feel a bit more muted at impact.

Both are good sets....but the Mkii's are going back in the bag for my next league round and somebody is going to get a nice BST deal.

Well i can say we feel the data from the replacement produced numbers inline with what we would expect. I'm not sure if we will hear back from Srixon after they are done examining the club we returned, i still chalk it up to one of those 1 in a big number chances of getting a production error. If i felt the zxi clubs were the correct fit for me i wouldn't have concerns about buying one.

The AskGolfNut heat map of the ZXi 7 makes it look like it’s less forgiving than the MKii version. Is that accurate?

I think they are very similar, just a little more mass behind the sweet spot.

I bought ZXi 5s on a whim (read after a couple bourbons) with what I thought would a good fit (KBS Tour 120s, 1/2" short and 1 or 2* flat). I HATED them for the 1st couple rounds. Switched back to Nippon 115s and got them bent to my specs and now they are AWESOME. No issues with the offset.

I hope I don't sound like a broken record, but how is spin on the ZXi7 working for everyone?

I revisited these irons last week in the LM/SIM and still found spin to be absurdly low on the 7  iron....so I moved to the 8 iron because as I understand, the grooves are different in the scoring irons.  But spin was still very low relative to loft.

I grabbed a high-swing-speed buddy of mine (who was nearby with his clubs) to hit the ZXi7  -and he saw the same low spin (dude's driver CHS lives around 120mph).

We know that hitting from mats can cause lower-than-usual spin numbers so he grabbed his gamer 7i P7CB with X7 shaft and spin was appropriate for a 33° club @ 6400.  Back to the ZXi7 7i, his spin dropped to around 4400rpm.  These irons are very low spin even considering their strong lofts.

What am I missing here?  We all have differing AoA but I consider mine to be somewhat normal for my CHS (driver 106mph)

(but they do feel great!)

They are definitely on the lower side when it comes to spin but definitely not 2k RPM difference from a comparable loft. The only time I see a huge dip in spin is if I hit a hook but that happens with every iron.

I'm wondering if it's some sort of compound error with the [trackman in this case] and how it's reading something off the club.  1800 for me and 2k for him def seems nutty.  Same KBS Tour shaft for me, and same TP5 ball in the LM.  Trackman can have indoor anomalies but I'd think that would flow across all irons tested.

And we tinkered extensively with him swinging slower and faster and seeing if we could artificially induce desired results.  I did the same, hitting big cuts to find spin, etc...

I concur with your thoughts, though.
