My zxi7’s should arrive on Friday.  As of now, it’s almost 4 weeks since I placed the order.  My hold up was TV+4 grips and RTZ wedges.  If it was just the irons they would have delivered in a 2 week window.

I finally ordered a combo set of ZXi7 7-P and ZXi5 5-6 with Steelfiber i110. Does anyone have an estimate of how long Srixon is taking to get custom sets out?

Weird coincidence -- neither Edwin Watts, nor Golf Galaxy, nor PGA Tour Superstore in Atlanta have had a single set of ZXi7s in stock. All of them did have ZXi5s and ZX5 Mk IIs for demo and purchase. I asked the kid picking his nose at the GG front desk and he said: "I guess we sell 'em as soon as they come in?"

I've had that happen in the past - something relatively meaningless holding up the order.  I wish they'd email you and tell you so you can tell them to just throw some default grip in the box and send your order out - then you can install the grips you actually want, yourself.

Very custom order I’ve placed from Srixon arrives withing 7 business days with standard shipping on west coast.  Pretty fast if they have everything

Brand new to the website and making my first post.  Looking for feedback on a set of ZXi5’s I just ordered from PGASS.  Spent a number of months testing irons out and landed on ZXi5 with a DG Mid 100 (S300) standard length shafts.  Ordered 5-AW.  I also special ordered a ZXi5 7I with KBS Tour Lite R Standard length.  It was a bit of a tossup between those two shafts and the DG seemed to provide better results with mishits. My idea was to compare the two 7I setups over the season in practice to get insight into the two different setups.   The order won’t arrive until between mid May to June as the DG’s are currently out of stock.  PGASS offered the opportunity to switch shafts that are currently in stock.  

 

So, I’m 65 years old, 15 HC working toward a single digit HC now that I’m retired.  My 7I SS is between 75-82mph.  I think with my swing speed training and workouts can maintain or do slightly better on the SS.  Now that I have a few weeks to reconsider shafts and I’m learning more about shaft specifications and technology I’d appreciate any suggestions or feedback on options given the information above. Don’t quite understand the nuances between Reg and Stiff iron shafts.  Thank you!

In all fairness, they let my fitter know about the grips.  I was able to change them.  They were held up longer because of the RTZ wedges.  I chose to have them shipped together.

 

No real complaints on my end.  Like mentioned earlier, the RTZ’s are back ordered.  Some all the way until July.

Did you try the DGs in the R300?  I’m in a similar swing speed range due to some injuries.  I picked up the DGs in the R300 as the regular shaft provided better results for me.

I look for bend profiles that work then go by weight.   The flex letter I find largely irrelevant.   In fittings I'm often deciding between a "stiffer" flex in a certain weight class and a "softer" one in the next lighter class - often making them very close in actual weight.    

 

When it comes to deciding between flexes of the same model, I'm usually asking if the softer one produces a consistent ball flight. and for the stiffer (heavier) one I'm asking myself if getting the right feeling of load is something that requires a lot of conscious effort.   The one you find yourself manipulating the least is usually best, at least for your current swing.

Thanks for the insight BlkNGld.  I haven’t really analyzed bend profiles before and have just added that to my list of components of the shaft to understand in relation to my swing feel and loading.

Thanks.  I haven’t  tried the R300 in the DG.  I’ve had the idea that R flex creates a greater dispersion than S.    You mentioned the R flex in relation to injury.  Does that flex reduce impact and stress on your body compared to S?

The regular flex is usually for lower swing speeds (lower being mid 70s to low 80s with an iron).

I’ve heard Steelfibers can be difficult to swing weight. Apparently Srixon/Cleveland know what they are doing. 4 - 48* came in bang on D0…5i was C9. 52* = D1, 56* & 60* = D3. This is with heavy midsize cord grips. I’ll play as is for a while then experiment with lead tape if needed.

If my set with Steelfiber i110 come in at D0 and C9 I'm going to be wildly disappointed. I ordered them at 1/4" over with standard size Tour Velvets. I requested D4 in PW-9 and then D3 in 8-5.

I reckon they will come in close to what you want.  I have half inch over in dynamic gold 120 and there d6

I could be wrong, but I don't believe Srixon builds to SW specs. However, you'd pick up at minimum 3 points due to the length and grips...probably closer to 4. As such, I bet your sticks come in pretty darn close to spec.

You're correct, Srixon does not guarantee swing weights. A conversation was had with a customer service rep prior to ordering and he seemed relatively confident they could achieve those values.

We are almost identical in age and swing speed.  I have never gotten along with DG. 
 

In my fitting it came down to KBS Tour Lite (R) and Recoil 95.  They were very close in most numbers but the KBS were a bit tighter dispersion.  
 

My Srixon rep was by this week and we were hitting a some of his samples on the range snd i came away still convinced on the Tour Lites.   
 

As for profile, he said what he likes about them they are consistent from butt, mid to tip.   
 

Ideally it’s best if you can get fit or at least demo them.

ZXi7's with Axiom 105S is a match made in FEEL heaven.  I'm excited to play the season with these irons and get back to my Srixon ways.  I had Z785s and Zx7s and went rogue with 2024 Callaway JDM X-Forged irons for a bit.

IMO Srixon fixed the low spin on the Zx7's.  Everyone knows ZX7's were slightly low spin on the mid irons but these babies have a little more height and the spin is perfect.   But, the feel is just unbeaten.  My goodness these irons feel incredible.  Responsive, soft, yet powerful.

Thanks Carolina! That feedback is super helpful.  I special ordered one KBS Tour Lite (R) 7I to test out and it just came in a few days ago.  I’m going to test the heck out of it this week and I’m guessing it could be my best route.  I’ve had in my head that Regular shafts generally had wider dispersions than Stiff shafts but I think thats faulty thinking.  Seems like the shaft bend profile and weight for a given swing load is even more important.

I had a fitting last Thursday and wanted to try the Srixons but was open to other clubs. The fitter had me warm up with my 7i to get a baseline, I was playing Ping G 2016 irons. We talked and he asked if I wanted to try the ZXI4's since I was going from the G's. I asked about the 5's and he got me rolling with a setup to try. The pro I have been working with for the last year wanted me to try a heavier shaft. Started with one of the DG options and the dispersion improvement was immediately apparent. Ended up trying a KBS tour with very similar results that felt a bit better to me and ended up going with that. 

 

I was talking with the fitter for a while and we were going to try a few other options and he said "I don't want to do you a disservice but I don't think we are beating that." We did talk for a bit about doing a ZX5 4-7 ZX7 8-A combo set but I didn't want to make golf any harder on myself than it already is.

Well, my Friday delivery was only the zxi5 5i and RTZ 60*.  I was told the 60* would be shipped a little after the irons.  Now I’m waiting on the rest of the irons and 48* & 54* RTZ’s.  What a cluster.

Got a combo set ZXi 5’s in the 5&6, ZXi 7’s in the 7-pw with the Axiom 105’s.  5&6 1* weak all irons 1* upright except the pw.  Also got the 4 utility 1* strong with the GDDI 85S.  Ordered everything on 2/3.  Just received them 4/17.  They do feel awesome.  I sent them to my club builder and this is the loft and lies they came.  Some good, some bad, but overall I would say not very good.

Ick bummer. I had a 5/7 combo on order, but after 3 weeks I cancelled since it was looking like another month+ just to get the shafts.
Ended up getting some mint Bridgestone’s. But Im sure my eye will always be wandering towards the Zxi’s.
