You like better the blueprints?  What in particular?

That’s a tall order.  Love hearing praise like that.

I will just throw out that I hit them against my BPS and performance on sim was about equal. BPS spun a bit more and launched higher. Top line on the Ping is  cleaner / thinner / better. To me, feel was a wash.

This is a 925FB vs a Srixon ZX7 (8 irons)

Acknowledging the thickness of the top line allows them to tune sound/feel, if only the top line on the ZXi7's was quite a bit thinner, it'd be perfection.

They have arrived and are a beautiful set of heads! I assumed that these were new pulls but they have never been installed after looking in the hosels. I liked the look of the MKII head and these look even better in person.

Head weight tolerances are spot on as well at 7g increments for you club builders out there. Now I just need to figure out if I go X100’s in chrome or black.

Gotta go onyx... Those plus some cool black/white BB&F Ferrules. Contrast would be sweet!

I did like the blueprints, a lot actually.  These performed very consistently with them, but these look and feel better in my opinion, and having the additional forgiveness at the top (zxi5 in 4 and 5 iron) sealed the deal for me.

Excellent, thanks for the feedback.  I am testing a set of Callaway Elytes at the moment, trying to pickup a little length and forgiveness.  ZXI4 was my other thought, I got a little scared of the sole width though.  Sounds like it’s a non issue, look forward to hitting them at some point.

Sole with its Tour-VT tech was a non-issue for me!

So just to make sure I have this right, the Mizuno JPX 925 Forged is similar to the ZXi7’s in terms of size?! I haven’t seen either in person yet and I was originally debating between the 925F and ZXi5 irons… now I’m wondering if I’m even comparing the right irons

Looks like it in the pics above, size wise.

looks like this years jpx forged is smaller than previous.  Construction and playability wise it will still be more similar to zx5i than zxi7

I had ZX4 (the og) long irons and they were powerful but I never loved that wide sole. I would be sure to test on grass if you can. I think it is actually thinner on the new ones, still somewhat wide. The Elyte caught me by surprise. I was with a few players hitting clubs at a shop and we all thought those Elyte irons are something else. Very nice looking, mid-sized, has a tri-sole and is amazingly easy to hit. Not knocking the Srixons — if the soles and thickness work for you, they’re great — but Callaway did a nice job getting the spin and power formula right on the Elytes. People always diss the OEM irons named after the line of woods and they get less talk, but those are going to be strong contenders in the players distance/GI category.

Same loft specs as me in the ZXi7, specifically the 9i and Pw, with a similar wedge setup. I go 45-50-55-60 but close enough. Love it. I haven't been able to play with my set yet, but have been severely impressed. Hit balls this past Saturday better than I have in months at the range. Point and shoot.

I can vouch for this statement as I took those pics.  My son has the og ZX7's and I've played almost every 5 series and several of the Forged/HMP series as well.  This years 925 Forged are smaller then both the 5's and 7's.  So far in limited use the 925 are as forgiving as the 5's have been in the past.

I don't think so as I haven't seen the P760 in person.  They aren't a ton smaller than the 7's, but the topline makes them look alot smaller.  I would say they are incrementally smaller in blade length & sole width.  To me the 5's look really big next to the 925F.  I have a new set of MKII 5's and can snap pics later this afternoon of them vs the Forged if you'd like.

Everyone seemingly thinks the 5 series top line is thicker. It's been identical to the 7 series for 3 generations now - 6mm. Even the 4 series has been 6mm for 2 generations now...

I had a session with my instructor a few days ago hitting my ZX7 MKii set and he wanted me to try the ZXi7 to compare. It was only a few swings but they seem to perform the same, which I expected. Feel was great, I'd say about 7% softer haha. I also thought the edges and top line may have been ever so slightly softer/rounded than before but maybe I was imagining that. I think they are a really nice incremental overall improvement.

Thank you!!! This is exactly what I was looking for. You’re the man! I love the progressive sizing in the 925, I’ve been playing 5/7 srixon combo’s since the 585/785 days but I’m looking for something new and fresh. The Mizuno’s caught my eye for obvious reasons. Glad to see they’re not too intimidating in the longer irons

Sole widths really the big difference.  Not likely that noticeable in 7 but the 5 is a lot wider than mk2.

Got fitted today for ZXI 5 from ZX5 mkII. Had Modus NSpro modus 3 105 but switch to graphite because of elbow problems. Recoil dart and TGI 80 were the best match and I ended up with the KBS. They will be soft stepped (5 iron shaft cut at the handle for my 6 iron, etc,) to give me more height and spin as I am a low spinner.

The fitter also told me to switch from Srixon Diamond to the new ZStar which has gained some distance from last year model while remaining a spinnier ball than the Diamond. I am not sure about that one because I really love the flight of the Diamond with the driver. I will test both with my SC4 Pro when I get my new toys.
Went 6-pw (I play hybrid 4 and 5 in Ping G430) then added RTZ 48-52 mid bounce and 56 adapt for versatility as I can open the face to lob the ball.

Also got the ZXI LS driver 8 degree lofted to 9 to close the face a little bit. It will come with a Ventus Red 5S.
That was a fun fitting and it will be a long wait to get my hands on these even if it’s only ten days to two weeks!

Nice to see some positive feedback on the Elytes.  I’m in South Bend, IN, so will not be able to get them in the course for a bit yet.  In the sim though, they are very impressive.  Long, straight, and really forgiving.  I’ve seen quite a few spiteful comments about them, rental set, box set, etc. but I’d advise people give them a chance.  I play off a low single digit and Im pretty pumped to get them out and see if I can hit a few more greens

I got impatient while I waited for the new shafts to arrive and I pulled the 7 iron shaft out of my T100 irons tonight and the epoxy is drying in the ZXi7.  Can’t wait to do some testing with my MLM2Pro tomorrow.

This might be helpful to someone…the ZXi7 plays about 1/4” shorter than in the T100 heads.
