Any thoughts on how the zxi7 would compare to an “older” single-piece forged players cavity back? I’ve been playing the Mizuno MP57 for the better part of 15 years now and can’t find anything wrong with them - but like a good wrx’r i have that desire to find something nearly the same but somehow “better”. I’ve tried a few different beads over the years - MP53, P7MC, i210, i230, MP20MMC - and always end up back with my trusty MP57s. Srixon has been making waves and the zxi7 really catch my eye, though lofts are much stronger versus what I’m used to as I play MP57 off a 31* 6 iron. Can an iron in this “players single piece forged CB” category really offer much improvement versus the MP57, or am I on a wild goose chase?

That’s going to be really difficult for anyone else to answer.  It really depends on what you want out of it.

Adjusting to stronger lofts is not that difficult.  You just need to understand your dynamics.  If you have access, it would be good to get your 57’s on a sim and get some data.  If your launch, dynamic loft and spin are all in a good window then I would not change just for the sake of changing.

However, if you have the itch, then keep your 57’s and pick up some mkii’s for a little less cash and put them both to work on the course.  Give it more than 9 holes before you decide.  Go from there.

Like Mr. Hogan said, the answer is in the dirt.

I’m coming from Miura CB 57’s and I love the ZXi7’s so far. The loft was a concern for me as well and I just had them bent a degree strong and just ignore the number on the sole of the club.

Any noticeable difference in forgiveness between the two? The Miura CB57 don’t look too dissimilar from MP57, the Miura looks like it has more meat behind the ball than the MP57. How are you finding the zxi7 on spin? That’s something I’m concerned about with the stronger lofts of the srixons.

Definitely more forgiving with the Srixon. The spin numbers are comparable with the same lofted club, a little lower on the Srixon. However, peak height on the Srixon is noticeably higher. I honestly didn’t need new irons, the Miuras are really hard to beat. The ZXi’s were hard to pass on though with the multitude of no up charge shafts and general affordability compared to other manufacturers. My ZXi5 5-6 iron should be here next week along with a ZXi4 4 iron. I really think Srixon/Cleveland is at the top of their game right now.

@snuggyph1 Call them and ask to speak with Jason. When I ordered my CBX4 wedges, I spoke to him and he was fantastic. Took the time to talk about my game and what I was looking to accomplish with each wedge and made recommendations from there on shafts and lofts. Great experience.

Thinking about going to zxi7 from t-150. Came from Mizuno mp20mmc and I have had a hard time liking the pocket cavity in 5-7i in t-150. At times it feels like I just hit a hollow body iron when I catch it a groove high like if it’s sitting up a tad and I’ve had it go further unexpectedly from that. T-150 is still a great iron but miss the no frills forged feeling. I wish Mizuno didn’t go away from MMC, I felt like that iron fell into the MP line more than a smaller chromoly forged iron that pretty much already exists in the JPX line.

I almost went with Axiom in my Zxi order but heard they are low launching/low spin even more so than DG.  I am coming from SteelFiber i80.

i ended up going Tour Lite.

Do you like the Tour Lites?  I am considering them for some Zxi5’s trying to get higher launch and spin?

New irons came! Took 12 days total with custom shafts, lofts and lies. Everything looks spot on! Excited to get these on course!

Address photos are the ZXi4 5 Iron, ZXi5 7 and PW. Decided to skip the ZXi7’s this time around.

Yeah. Like them quite a lot. Might be a mph or two slower with them.  But it’s very early in our season, so im not quite swinging like i expect to be in a month or so

Im getting good height and very good dispersion with them.

ZXi5 set arrived yesterday. Srixon did a pretty good job on the build..

5-9 ordered 1 up / 1 weak / std length

PW ordered 1 up / std loft / +1/4" (submitted this as a second order due to loft and length)

Shaft: Modus 120 Stiff

Lies: All within 1/2 degree of target lie except the 9 iron. 9 was at 65.5 (+2.5 deg up)

Lofts: Spot on except the PW was also 1 weak (somewhat expected)

Lengths: Spot on

Swingweights: Within tolerance. 5-9 all between D2-D3, PW D4 (due to extra length)

Hoping to get to the range later today.

Also - The ZXi5s are some of the softest/easiest irons to bend that I've ever seen (in almost 40 years experience building and bending). The hosels are advertised as having the "harder" steel as part of the new forging process, but they are like butter. The ZXi4 4 iron I got last month is "soft", but not too soft in terms of adjustment. I wouldn't have any concerns on the ZXi4.

My advice for anyone with ZXi5 or ZXi7 irons - Check your lofts and lies more often than you would otherwise, especially if you hit off mats or hard turf regularly.

I will say i dont remember the exact time frame but my I5 I7 combo set shipped like 2 days after i ordered them but i play modus 120X which is a shaft they have plenty of. A buddy of mine had it narrowed down to axiom and another shaft and ended up going with the other due to the Axioms being backordered and the fitter couldn't give him an exact date but said it would be quite a while before he got them if he went with Axioms

good info here. I took mine straight to my sim yesterday and man these 5's are amazing. The feel is unreal compared to my old 790s. Enjoy!

My relationship with the T-150's done. Up for sale. Zxi5 incoming. My first set of Srixons as I got persuaded away a few times before. Not this time.

Trying out the DG105's as I got a smoking deal with them, but have some Modus 105's in the garage if I need to make an adjustment.

zxi 4 vs zxi 5     - thoughts on this comparison

I have a combo of 4/5 and kind of wish i had gone all 4.   Not that i’m having any issue with the 5’s, I’m not. But the 4’s look, sound and feel as good if not better than the 5’s.  Really great irons.

The blades are still a current version, and can still be ordered.  Don’t look for a new version until at least Jan 2027.

Wow I didn’t realize it was a 4 year cycle until you pointed it out but makes sense now. I guess I should find a set of z forged ii now then
