2025 Srixon ZXi Irons

The Zxi7 is noticeably larger than the P7CB and the ZXi5 is chunkier than the P770. The Zxi4 is pretty close to the P790, but the Srixon is bigger. The Zxi7 and Cobra King Tour are close in size. The Cobra CB is definitely smaller.

 

I have not looked closely but it sure seems like the Callaway TCB is much sleeker than the Zxi7. 
 

I found it interesting when I hit the Srixons that to me the Zxi4 feels softer than the Zxi5. 

Yeah, like I said, not apples to apples. But around the same ballpark from the type of iron, and the forgiveness I’d say. Maybe I answered the question incorrectly.

 

Not many people make a larger footprint one piece cavity back with a thicker, more squared off top line. Don’t think that’s the “popular” look for the masses but I love my ZXi7’s. There’s not really anything out there that’s going to be just like the Srixon’s. They make a different product for sure and some people love it, some hate it. Lucky for me I’m in love 😂

Yes indeed. They‘re great irons. People say they want compact heads and skinny top lines and no offset. But that may not be what they play best with. I think one of the reasons people end up loving Srixons is because they are a little bigger and thicker and that extra mass translates to better results on mishits. That offset makes them easier to launch. The Cool Clubs testing shows they are solid even if the miss is bad.

You all are getting me excited. I ordered ZXi4 in the 4 and 5 iron (5 iron bent 1 degree weak) and then 6-AW in the ZXi5's. Currently playing the 23' P790's. I was in a little bit of a dilemma on whether to go 5 and 7 combo or do the 4 and 5 combo. After all the praise for the ZXi4, I'm thinking I made the right decision! The way I see it, forgiveness is nothing but a good thing and the praise for the soft feel in the ZXi4's has me confident in my decision. The only problem now is I've been anxiously awaiting since placing my order on May 2nd and just found out everything is ready except for my 4 iron. Something held it up, but it's now been assigned in production. Looks like I'm going to have to practice my patience a little while longer.

My last set I ordered with a ZX4 mkii 4 iron, have second thoughts about why I didn't this time.

 

I thought the ZX4 last gen was an overlooked club, to me it felt much better than the ZX5 mkii.  The ZX5 felt very clicky, whereas the ZX4 felt much more like the ZX7 with a forged feel. 

 

I almost went ZX4 and ZX7 as a combo a couple of years ago, and due to the loft difference was going to go 4-7 in ZX4, and 7-PW in the ZX7.  On the simulator I was hitting the ZX4 7 iron probably further than I would hit a ZX7 6 iron. The ZX4 7 iron was at 28.5 degrees, while the ZX7 6 iron was 28, then get the ZX4 plus 1/2 inch and a degree flatter and they would have blended very well.

I’ve been in love with Srixon since 2019 when I started gaming the z785s. I’ve hit too many shots to count off the bottom groove that feel like it should be blade over the green yet it ends up 15 - 20 feet from the flag. They’re just about worn enough to justify moving to the ZXi7s.

Put in a order last week on 6-pw zxi4 lefty's. They shipped the 6,8,9 and was told july before the 7 & pw would ship. I ended up canceling can't wait that long.

Wow, that's wild. I bet I don't see my A wedge before then, one guy on reddit had been waiting for an A since mid March. I would be hot if a current production club was backordered for 4+ months.

How much do you think it’s going to wear?  Are you playing  everyday of the week.  Can’t imagine not buying a club thinking it’s going to wear out.

I ordered April 28th from Edwin Watts, mixed set with KBS TGI 95 shafts, everything showed as in stock.   They didn't tell me anything was backordered at the time. May 7th my ZXi5 4-5-6 iron showed up, told me the ZXi7 heads were back ordered, but would be in soon.  I checked online and by that time the heads were available, but the shafts I ordered were then not showing as an option.   Last week was told the shafts were supposed to be in this week, ship the next. 

 

They should have held back my shafts for my ZXi7s from the day I ordered so when the heads were in they could assemble and ship.....

 

I had debated on the KBS or Steelfibers, just wish I would have gone Steelfiber, as who knows when the shafts will actually be in....  If I can't get an answer soon, I'm just going to tell them to send back the ZXi5s and make the whole set with a different shaft.....

Seems they are having all kinds of issues. I received my set of ZxI7s about a month ago. Within a week the KBS shafts were wearing fast ( nickel of the steel coming through) not a big deal to me ( and not Srixons issue) but my fitter/swing coach wanted them sent back to get reshafted.
 

Received the clubs back after three weeks and was excited to play. Checked the clubs over and not only were most of the ferrules not turned down but also had ferrule creep/gaps on 3 of the 7 clubs. Best part was, they reshafted with the WRONG shafts. They are now on their way back to Srixon.
 

I am not confident I will get much better work back so I have a new order in with Peoples Clubs to have it done right. The irons themselves are truly amazing. The companies ability to build clubs at this point has left me a little discouraged.

Not to beat a dead horse, but my last set of Srixon's I also  ordered with the KBS TGI 95 shafts.  The EW store manager even called me then next day to confirm it for some reason.    They showed up with the TGI 90s.   Now, based on KBS recommendations, I was almost in between the 90 and 95s, they said try them and see if I like them, if not we would sent them back.  I ended up keeping them, wish I hadn't as they were just a touch to light IMO for me.....

Modds 115 is a great shaft. Goldilocks in a way. Heavier actually than the 120s 114g and the 115s is 118g. I hit the 120 left all day also.

I have been gaming the Modus 120X which is 120g raw, but obviously not much of a change.

 

I had posted about a page or two back and i'm actually doing some testing with the KBS Tour 120(s) right now as i've been loving the 610 in a 56 I just got built up too. Love the stable handle and really feel like I can throw the head into the ground without consequence. I think i'm either going to end up in that Tour 120, or the $-Taper 120 if I need a little less spin and more stability. I actually played the Modus 115(s) last year in a set of Fourteen TB7's and didn't hate them - I just thought the S was a little odd for me. Kind of in the same spot as the M120X and just felt a little loose, but I haven't hit one in while. Not sure i'd even try and play the 115X, but maybe I need to swing them.

How many of you are in the ZXi 5s or 7s and in the Modus 120? I’m a high spin player with a moderate SS (7-iron=85mph driver=105+) and am wondering how much lower these heads spin? I want lower spin, but still want to keep a good peak height and descent angle. 
 

I love the height on my Ping i59s (PX LS 6.0), but they spin a bit much at times. Demo’d the ZXi7s in the Modus 120S outdoors, and the launch and peak height was lower. They felt great though. Very forgiving and had an amazing feel.

Cant speak to Modus shafts but seriously doubt the shaft makes more than a couple hundred rpm difference. Im playing a 5/7 combo set with S400 hardstepped 1X and if anything the short irons still spin too much. Certainly not too little. Convinced the testing on these off indoor mats is the culprit of “low spin” quotes going around. 

 

6-PW wedge sit down hard when hit properly and I play in AZ on firm greens year round. The 8-PW spin enough to be problematic with the winds we’ve had here the last few weeks. Ive seen perfectly struck shots float higher losing major distance into the wind. If they were low spinning, it would cut right through it.

Who is playing a complete set of zxi4s? What shaft? How you liking the short irons. Currently gaming zxi4 5/6 and zxi5 7-gw with steelfiber i95 stiff. The zxi4 might feel better then the zxi5. 

 

Debating all zxi4 with something heavier like travil 105, modus 105, accra 105. Buddy says zxi7.

I play ZX5 OGs and just got my son ZXi7 irons. I’ve hit them at the range with him and my lord are they buttery smooth. I definitely lose half a club length with them but they’re a joy to hit. I have no plans on changing my clubs anytime soon but I think I like the weight of the stock stiff DG115 shaft in the ZXi7. I’m contemplating getting a set of Modus 115s in stiff as I think the weight helps my tempo. I’m a huge fan of my Modus 105 stiff shafts, they load perfectly for me and I love their feel so off to eBay I go lol

Which did you find more forgiving between the zx5 and the 790s?
