modern traditional (2002-2025) - adjusted with the ball change

34-36 7 iron

I had some Cally X12s in 1998, and the 7i was 33 deg.   PW by comparison was 46 deg.

Point was, there's no industry standard for lofts any more than there is for what make a stiff flex shaft.    And traditional is  usually relative to when someone really got into golf gear.

around 46 pw, 42 9 iron, 38 iron, etc...

They have a set with “traditional” lofts (I say that as clearly there isn’t really a standard anymore). You should look at the Z-Forged model. I think the issue with reducing the lofts in the ZXi7 line is it does have some forgiveness built in so the ball fight probably won’t work for whatever launch windows really good players who get them are looking for

Most of the tour players specs we’ve seen that have them (brooks, JJ, Keegan) all have them bent 2 degrees weak

Do you have an article or anything showing that?  I can't seem to find their iron specs other than one website showing Brook's ZX7 MKII at standard lofts.

It’s out there if you search.

jj is the easiest to find as it was just posted.

Finally found an article from Golf magazine posted two days ago the following specs for his irons:

Irons: Sirxon ZXi5 4-iron, ZXi7 5-PW (D3), True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S400 (4i), X100 (5-PW)
Loft Progression: 23˚, 26˚, 30˚, 34˚, 38˚, 42˚, 46˚
Lie Progression: 60˚, 60.5˚, 61˚, 62˚, 63˚, 63.5˚, 64˚
Length Progression: 38.25″, 37.75″, 37.25″, 37″, 36.5″, 36″, 35.75″

What a fascinating build.  Not the typical lie/length progression and also not all irons bent 2 weak.  Srixon definitely got him dialed in on each club.  Well done!

thanks for posting.  This is the type of lofting I wish they made standard for the ZXI7's.

OR if they offered both options (traditional and progressive).

That's the setup I have, no real issues besides wanting a ZXi 3 utility since the 4 is so good, but I also love my 7w lol

Nice! I was concerned that lofts on ZXi5 5 iron and ZXiU 4 were only 1 degree apart but latter was a high launch rocket. And I love my 4h/7w too!

I did it last year and loved the blades in the shorter irons. I did 7-9. The Z Forged II are seriously good irons.

I hit these yesterday for the first time. They feel notably better than Mk2 which I was surprised by. I would go for ZF2 over these if I was going to play Srixon again - they just look too bulky overall. I got handed what I was told was a flat iron but these wanted to turn over more than my 243 and I couldn’t vibe with them. Lovely feeling iron. ZX7 guys will be over the moon with them for a cycle. Odd setup with JJs irons and the lengths in particular. I also have no idea how people play irons that upright. My 7i is 60 degrees. He is a stubby MF though.

I can’t believe there isn’t zx7 mkii users who think those are better than zxi7. I guess I haven’t spent a ton of time with zxi7 but I still think the mkii are better. Atleast so far in my testing. Nothing crazy, zxi7 are still amazing like all srixon irons but I feel opposite of most of you saying these are wayyyy better than mkii version.

Typical pro combo is:

Srixon ZXi Utility (3, 20 degrees), Srixon ZXi5 (4, 5), Srixon ZXi7 (6-PW) - Shane Lowry

Srixon ZX5 Mk II (3-5), Srixon ZX7 Mk II (6-9), Srixon Z-Forged II (PW) - Keegan Bradley

Srixon ZXi5 (4, 5) Srixon ZXi7 (6-9) - Sepp Straka

If you're going the 4/5 zxi5 route (which i did), you only need to bend the 5 iron weak one degree and you're good. The 4 iron is the same loft, they don't start changing until the 5 iron. 6 iron zxi5 would need to be bent one degree weak as well to match and so on. Once you hit the 9 iron there is a 2 degree difference.

I would either go 4/5 in zxi5 or 4/5/6 if you aren't feeling as confident. I don't run a 3 iron, and instead use a hybrid or 7 wood.

This was a great post for me. I mentioned on another thread I am between the ZXi5/7 combo build or T150s probably straight up or combo with 100s. Just looking to move away from my P7MCs.

Had anyone been between those and what did you like/dislike? T150s being $999 right now makes them appealing.

What's in the bag:

Driver: Titleist TSR2 8 w/ Tensei Black TX

Fairway Wood: Titleist TSR2 3w w/ Tensei Black TX

Driving Iron: Titleist TMB 2i w/ MMT 105TX

Irons: Taylormade P7MC 4-P w/ DG X100

Wedges: Vokey SM9 set (50/54/60) w/ DG S400

Putter: Scotty Mil Spec

Been srixon forever. Was intrigued by t150. Got a set when they came out. Used them for a whole season. While they were great irons they weren’t what I needed. They were too long, not necessarily fliers as some have said but I weakened the lofts and still messed up my gapping. They also didn’t feel great even centered. Moved back to my zx7 and happy I did. T150s were really great though just not what I needed, for some people they are probably the best iron going if that’s what you need. On misses with the t150 the ball speed barely dropped it was pretty impressive.

Another win for Srixon irons.  This has to be some kind of single season record for number of wins on the pga tour.

straka times 2

fox

bradley

spaun

maybe they should start every media clip with “most winning iron on tour”

Wouldn't that be a TIE with TAYLORMADE and the MB used by RORS and Scottie in the PTW? Are do you consider them DIFFERENT?

Actually Hedeki won the Sentry and FOX has 2 wins !!!

P7tw and Rors proto are completely different styles of mb.  One is a modern small heel to toe blade, and the other is a much more classic and has a longer heel to toe.

ii should have been more specific.  Zx7’s.  Most are playin 6-9pw

Gave the ZXi 5 and 7 a waggle last week at Golf Galaxy.  I must say they look absolutely perfect to my eye.  These are the only irons on the market that make me even slightly consider gaming instead of my BPS.

Loving these irons more and more.  Just so smooth through impact and very forgiving for my miss.  The thickness of the top line goes away after a couple of rounds.
