Shaft fitting universal?

Was fitted into Project X LZ 6.0 at my last fitting with t100’s. Have been gaming same shafts in pro 221, with no complaints for last 6 months or so.   Was wondering - if I was fit into a shaft with one manufacturer, would it perform the same in a different head from another manufacturer?

 

Asking as new club season is coming and will inevitably be buying something again.

IF the head weight and size and mass proportion is the same (more or less) the result will be the same. The more the heads differ from each other, the more difference you may feel. Different heads from different manufacturer can weight significantly different, only from this it can have a different feel.

bore to ground differences may come into play, and of course headweights may be different, check lofts to be certain as well. should get close in performance.

If it's played at the same playing length and with the same grip and with the same head weight (swing weight) and same head BBGM - then the shaft will behave the same.

 

However, even If any of those change, it's usually not all that hard to make adjustments (to either the shaft or the head) for some of those possible differences.  Or the effect on the shaft performance might be too small to be an issue or may not even be noticeable.  So while there might be caveats, in general, if you find a shaft that is a good fit in one head, it will very likely also be a good fit in any other head.

Thats a question of SW value and hosel specs.
- if you stay with "players irons", we can expect them to have the classic hosel specs of 1.25 BBGM and 1.25 insert.(2.5 hosel total). There is a few exceptions to that, TM might use only 1.0" as insert, so when BBGM is the same, but insert is 2/8" less, we "should" tip trim 2/8" (even on tapers), to equalize for that.

PS! even with the same SW and hosel specs, the HEADs VCOG and RCOG still influence, so if this specs is very different, we might mix up what comes from the shaft, and what comes from the head, and think the shaft "changed" characteristics, while its really the head. (launch and spin  values)

In general, the same shaft "should" work for another head, but might still be a tad different  if VCOG and RCOG is outside of what we can compensate for, who is limited to hosel specs and SW value.
