2025 LPGA Season Odds and Ends

Mone accepted LPGA membership for 2024. Then finished 104th in final CME rankings. Is now 169th on priority list.

Looks like she lost her playing privileges.

I'd like to know why Lilia and Grace aren't playing.

104 CME / 169 priority does not mean she lost her playing privileges.

Ok. I'm trying to come up with answers. You are just saying NO.

So please tell me and others how someone losing their card and is 169th in priority has not basically lost her playing privileges.

Seriously...I want to know why Mone is not eligible for the TOC.

As I wrote earlier, “The only thing I can think of is Inami has given up her LPGA membership for 2025 and is back on JLPGA.” I don’t know JLPGA rules, but is it possible they don’t allow someone to be a member of another tour if they want to be a JLPGA member? Going back to JLPGA would make sense since her LPGA status is poor and she’d probably end up splitting between EPSON and LPGA. Also, finishing 104 on CME made her exempt to final stage of Q-series, but she didn’t bother playing. That’s another sign she’s not interested in LPGA anymore.

Se Ri Pak announcement re Fir Hills tournament on her Instagram account @seripak1998:

"Good afternoon. This is Park Se-ri.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of you who were surprised and concerned by the sudden cancellation of LPGA competition just before the New Year holiday.
With the major damage to nearby areas due to the worst wildfires in LA history, it is a realistically very difficult situation to hold a competition near LA in March as scheduled. Therefore, we are closely discussing with the FIR HILLS and LPGA competition officials, and we will try harder to ensure that there is no problem in rescheduling the competition, expedite resolution and preparation for the competition.
However, I sincerely hope that the honor of those involved will not be tarnished due to malicious, indecent article that has no connection with the LPGA official announcement.
2025 the year of the green grass wish everyone a happy new year."

Yes, who knows if Mone gave up her LPGA membership/card.

She started 2024 okay, and then slid, missing many cuts as the 2024 season went on. I wonder if she was injured. All she had to do was play ok in one of her tournaments and she might have been in the CME top 100.

On the HGVTOC website. Mone is not noted as "qualified" as other LPGA pros are.

She is not listed as a past participant, even though she played in 2024.

https://www.hgvlpga.com/players/past-participants/page/4/

I'm not a fan of the HGVTOC "pro-am" format.

IMO. A merger of The Sentry & HGVTOC would be ideal to assist with LPGA exposure.

Played in threesomes, the approximate 95 PGA & LPGA total field would have enough daylight each day..

Played concurrently, with alternate tee times and different tee blocks for the PGA & LPGA pros.

But the PGA tour might not want The Sentry "watered-down" as a Signature event.

sharing this ForePlayGolf/Barstool 3-vs-1 Nelly scramble video here, as some folks might enjoy it ...

have never seen Nelly so chatty/ loose and trash-talking ... examples:

  • timestamp ~1min: The Barstool guys mention Nelly did a similar video with them a year ago... and took some credit for Nelly's remarkable win streak early-season (see her response for yourself; made me smile);
  • timestamp ~12m45s ... she mentions bringing out her alter-ego "Nori" at the Solheim Cup;
  • timestamp ~2m32s (Nelly suggests that Trent's definition of "hitting lasers" is different from hers, as he hits a big fade ... and that he "should geta "Qi35" tattoo on his butt cheeks after hitting it so well; and timestamp ~11mins: She loves tattoos and "i love tattoos... have four ... you would never think that, right?"
  • throughout the video, Nelly talks through her strategy of specific shots eg recovery chips/ finesse shots (with some self-deprecating remarks when she doesn't quite execute them to her liking)

@3eagles yeah, Beth Ann Nichols indicated that the chatter w.r.t.  the underwriter = JTBC.  Was posted a couple days (in the other thread you started i.e. "2025 LPGA Schedule").

Yeah...I have no idea why you started a 2nd thread on this Fir Hills issue hours after the first one was in place here.

I didn't pay attention to it.

honest answer = "i didn't see your post on Fir Hills, in this thread".

But you see I didn't get on you.. Point it out when you did it like you just did with me. Showing a post by another writer concerning the same thing.

I like more posts...just not people who claim like you did.

Let's be cool...

Huh? Is this a major oversight? Eila Galisky not an invite?

A conflict with her Gamecock schooling or tournament schedule?

I would have thought Eila to be recruited by a bigger women's golf university powerhouse.

Any insights why she and her team chose the Gamecocks?

Elia currently playing her first College tournament.

They also have a tournament in Florida that finishes only two days before Honda.

Okay, further to this, now where to find LIVE scoring as the Monday qualifying tournament is in full swing. GAWD, this used to be so easy on the old website.

@MagicClassic407 you (and we) need to give @Seamus_McDuff a more-difficult challenge (eg to find "Where is Carmen Sandiego?") ... this was too easy/ not a challenge for his black-belt "google fu"

"+1" on your frustrations with the new LPGA website ...

I searched the OCS-LPGA website yesterday, after seeing your question (and believe there wasn't a "Live-Scoring" website that's open to the general public)

i.e. presumably they only published the final MondayQ results?

This website was showing the template response "Result is not available for this tournament" until recently!

...p/s: There's a NON-public bells-and-whistles "LPGA real-time scoring" version (that Grant Boone and other commentators sometimes screenshot to let us know it exists!  Needs a Login ... example1 / example2 with near real-time GIR/ putting stats

Did you create a OCS account? and that's why you are able to acquire info that others, including myself, are finding difficulty obtaining.

The Monday qualifying info, caddie info, etc, etc were so much easier to find on the old LPGA website.

I was rooting for Gina Kim to qualify.

Sophia Schubert qualified.

I remember reading the below article about Sophia "stiffing" her caddies.

I assume Jon Bujan (caddie) is on the following page from Argonne (front/1st page) in the LPGA security binder for harrassing/stalking Sophia...lol.

As per Ron Sirak and Beth Ann...supposedly JTBC is the underwriter.

JTBC is a S. Korean TV network, why would they be a underwriter? An underwriter typically is a financial institution.

JTBC has previously been a sponsor/co-sponsor or presenting partner of past LPGA events. They also have paid the LPGA for some broadcasting rights too.

So it seems like JTBC was an undisclosed co-sponsor/presenting partner who reneged and Fir Hills was unwilling to make-up the funds and/or the LPGA could not find another company to take on JTBC's financial obligation for the 2025 tournament.

Based on Beth-Ann Nichols' article, JTBC had a media-rights deal with the LPGA (article mentions that JTBC would be allowed to sell-on these rights to a third-party, in specific markets/ specific events).
