Welp, it took some relentlessness but I finally got a fitting booked at the Scotty Cameron Gallery for my 40th!

P.S. Don't ever call, it's the biggest waste of time ever. The guy that answers basically just runs interference and literally does nothing other than tell you to email them.

Muy Bueno..! All the years I spent in California building/opening offices and I always told myself I would do a fitting with SC.  Never made it happen...

Gamed two putters over the last 20+ years.   Not that Scotties are the "end all" but they fit me well.  Not the case for everyone i know...

Studio Stainless Newport (2004...still have) I gamed until I picked up a Special Select Newport in 2020 which gaming currently.

Have to let me know you feel its worth the effort / cost?  I know someone who did it last year and said it was $175 per hour but he lives in Cali so for him it was not the effort of flying out, hotel room, etc.   He said it was about the same as other fittings he has done but felt like SC works more on "what feels right" and adjust from that Vs straight up metrics.

* Personal reasons, I picked a fully restored/SC ceritified Tel3 Sole stamp (1997)  Loved it when it released but could not afford one as I was just a few years out of school and "college poor"  😂.   Found out talking the guys at C its a "first article". So 1 of the first 500 ever made and interestig aspect part Betinardi and Scotty teamed up back then.  Betinardi milled the heads for Scotty and Scotty made the insert / did the final finishing, etc.  Never seen the light of day, only the carpet in my house hahahahaha

...........can not be any worse than hanging out with @Dancin......  bad bad bad influence on golf excursions....!

Yeah, I wouldn't call them "the best" or anything. Nobody makes "the best" anything in golf really. As with most things, there are small differences everywhere which makes for a lot of subjectivity. My brother got me a putter fitting at Club Champion in Westy a couple winters ago. In some ways it was a waste of money since I bought a putter I'll never use again. However, one part of it that was very useful was basically hitting putts with 40+ different putters really allowed me to figure out "what I like" in a putter.

The reason I love SC putters is the sound and feel of a 1-piece milled SS head. Everything else feels too "soft" to me now. I'm doing this fitting with SC mostly because I want to feel the difference between all of his different SS materials and have the opportunity to buy one. Good luck buying a GSS SC putter outside of the gallery and keeping it under 5-figures. That's his highest quality SS so I also want to know if I even like it better anyway.

I'm honestly not really going for a "traditional putter fitting" since I now have a putting coach that is really making me better. It's really just a way for me to get in there a buy an SC putter that I wouldn't get to try and have the opportunity to buy otherwise.

How often do you guys hit indoors in the winter? Do you hit on a launch monitor? If so, which one? Just into a net? Do you feel like it can help you improve? Can it be a detriment to your game? Do you work on anything or just play golf courses for fun?

I’ve been using a Trackman at South Broadway Country Club in Fort Collins. I try to get on for thirty minutes at a time. Just range work. Only focused on two numbers: path and face. Going for -2 path, -1 face for the tightest of baby cuts starting left of target and cutting back onto target. Good god it’s hard to get it just right. My tendency is to swing in to out with a closed face, so I have to really feel a cut to do it right. I also sometimes get bizarre numbers and shots I never see on a real course. I don’t think I swing the same indoors. Sometimes I wonder if it’s a detriment to practice indoors

Hi to Ft. Collins!  Formerly had a basement apartment there while attending CSU.

We have 4 swings:  The Range Swing, the Net Swing, the Simulator Swing and the Course Swing.  No two alike.

I used to go hit indoors a lot in the winter, at least once a week. It definitely helped keep my game sharp in the off-season.

Being able to hit as many half shots or slow swings as you wanted was nice. Especially getting instant feedback from a launch monitor on face angle or swing path. It can really help you improve. I wouldn't do it unless there was a launch monitor.

However, hitting on the mats destroyed my wrist. Can't do it much anymore. Maybe once a month.

I hit on mats all winter long, but I limit my sessions to 35 balls each. Enough for me to groove the swing or work on an issue.

I usually hit a lot of balls in the winter. I call it swing change season. This winter is the first in a while that I'm not going to make a big change or come back from injury. So far I've been taking it easy but I'm ramping it up a bit now. I bet my avg will be about 200-300 balls a week. When I'm jamming 75 balls can go pretty fast.

You already know my other answers. GCQ, full sim. IMO hitting into a net with 0 feedback would be worse for your swing than not swinging (unless coming back from injury.)

I have no doubt it helps me improve. I still have some things I'm working on technically (better pelvic tilt, flattening out my swing plane, and getting deeper into my left hip on the way down.) I would say I spend 80% of my time ranging it up and 20% on courses. As far as the structure of range time I spend too much time on swing mechanics so this year I'm going to spend a greater percentage on skills practice and games.

Personally, I don't swing any different downstairs or anywhere else. I lol'ed at this:

Tbh, I see it when someone... anyone... catches the ceiling in my basement. However, I generally disagree. Unless you count your brain as the swing :classic_wink:

I stay away from "just hitting" as you note. I find if I just hit into a net, no feedback per se my swing goes to crap.  I found for me its ball flight, I can tell right away from ball flight what I am doing wrong.

I have an indoor membership with Trackman and I try to get in 2-3 times per week. I have to be careful not to go back to back days as I start to feel my tendinitis flaring up again.

I need to figure out my face angle issue that can cause a strong pull every so often, but right now, I primarily focus on my wedge game 40-150yds. I use the performance center to randomize distances with greens with different pin locations. I feel like it really helps think through my shot more to avoid big mental errors in course management.

For me, I do believe my swing changes a bit with my driver indoors. I'm not completely sure why, but I suspect it's being enclosed and hitting off weird tees (the mats don't accept regular tees which I really don't like). My big issue hitting indoors though is me trying to chase the perfect swing. I find myself reviewing video and scrutinizing club and ball data too much, hence why I try to stick to the performance center.

My goal with the membership though is to obviously groove my swing though the winter, but also have my distances dialed in for the season, particularly for partial wedge shots.

Hit me up if you want to work on this. I paid for a Hackmotion and a coaching license. We can figure out where your face is at various positions that would be causing this.

This goes for EVERYONE HERE

I've mostly taken the winter off...between the snow, skiing, work, and family stuff, it's just been a little nuts.  I've messed around at the sim a few times but just for fun, no real practice.  I like to go once or twice a month but that's about it, any more and my elbow starts to feel it.  I have gotten more speed with my driver but developed a nasty case of pulling it left, so maybe I do need to see the Hackmotion numbers @Joelness as I think it's really a face issue.

I did play at CG at the end of December on one of the nice days we had, that was fun.  I don't keep score or track anything for winter golf because what's the point. Just fun to be out hitting outside when possible.

I suppose I should start making some time to practice since I'm going to Kiawah in mid March.  Can't wait, will be my first time playing the Ocean Course.

@CDM fully on board with a May outing, let's make it happen this year!

You'll get any number you want with that and the GCQ. If any of you guys want to roll up lmk, I'm pretty open next weekend. Amen to not keeping score in the winter, keep the fun. The ocean course will be amazing man.

Yes! I'll try to make every outing I can. I'll be on my own golf bucket list trip mid-May sooooo...... plz not then?!

Have to make it happen.   We need to know what events are in May and more so if peeps are playing them so we can set a weekend that works.

Kiawah will be fantastic and that time of year weather should be excellent.

Had zero plans for any golf trips this year, just  a couple of 3 day weekends.  Yet now heading back to NZD/AUS in March.  One week trip so brutal with those flights but have to do it.....plus I am a weak weak person....lol

I move to Denver about a year and a half ago for work so still getting the lay of the land for sure, especially considering I haven't even heard of a lot of the courses y'all mentioned earlier. I live right near South Suburban so I play there quite a bit. I have two little kiddos and coach hockey so time isn't super plentiful but I did manage to join the Raccoon Creek men's club last summer and I think I'll be returning there again this year.

Commonground is high on my list to play this year. I've met a few new friends at Bear Creek and Red Rocks so I'm sure I'll be at those two in the spring. I've played Lone Tree a bit too because it's close to my office but other than that I have not branched out much. Looking at y'alls lists makes me golf envious.

Definitely down for a meet up though.

Welcone.  Good list of courses so a good start.   Racoon Creek though never been a huge fan but I think its because a lot of the charity events I have done had been held there and the 6+ hour rounds soured me on the course 🤣

I really like the redo on South Subarban last few years.

My office is in Lone Tree so when weather breaks we go at lunch to Lone Tree or to Family Sports to hit.

You came to the right place for DENVER area.  Great people and a number of solid players in this thread.  I am sure you will meet many of them.

Welcome to Denver!

If you're ever looking to play on a Thursday night, I play with a super chill group (with the occasional WRX'er cameo) at South Suburban, sometimes Lone Tree or Meadows.
