Can't wait, will be my first time playing the Ocean Course.

Try and play the Ocean Course twice, or at least have a plan to do so.  The wind can be brutal so you have a better chance at a good day.  One time we played it, the wind was so strong that you can see dudes abs and junk with their clothes pinned against them - we all hit that Rory drive from the back tees on 18 with ease and a 40-45MPH wind.  You know that it is bad when the caddies are complaining.  Always had a great time there - the caddies always let us "try" some famous shots from some of the "closed" tee boxes.

The reason I love SC putters is the sound and feel of a 1-piece milled SS head. Everything else feels too "soft" to me now. I'm doing this fitting with SC mostly because I want to feel the difference between all of his different SS materials and have the opportunity to buy one. Good luck buying a GSS SC putter outside of the gallery and keeping it under 5-figures. That's his highest quality SS so I also want to know if I even like it better anyway.

Word is that carbon steel might be coming back this year - inserts are already out.  Do you like 303 SS better than carbon, or mostly use the SS since it has been available and carbon has not?  If you have not used much carbon, come and borrow some of my Carbon SCs and take them to the practice green before you go... they can take a hot minute to figure out what you are feeling and you might need more than the time at a fitting.

Carbon Steel, flat or VERY lightly milled face, 340g in 34 inches is my favorite SC blend - any head works.  The feedback is better than 303/GSS for me (and most people).

The SC shop is awesome in person.  They have to deal with the biggest jerks in Golf who buy stuff to flip and then cause the real customers to pay more, so they can be touchy in some situations.  They always have stuff in the shop that is not available online/elsewhere and they can even refuse to sell it if they think that you are a flipper.  Offspring number two is at UCSD playing softball and she goes in there from time to time to look for me.  Encourage a stop if anybody is nearby even if just to look.

I move to Denver about a year and a half ago for work so still getting the lay of the land for sure, especially considering I haven't even heard of a lot of the courses y'all mentioned earlier. I live right near South Suburban so I play there quite a bit. I have two little kiddos and coach hockey so time isn't super plentiful but I did manage to join the Raccoon Creek men's club last summer and I think I'll be returning there again this year.

Commonground is high on my list to play this year. I've met a few new friends at Bear Creek and Red Rocks so I'm sure I'll be at those two in the spring. I've played Lone Tree a bit too because it's close to my office but other than that I have not branched out much. Looking at y'alls lists makes me golf envious.

Definitely down for a meet up though.

Welcome! I pretty much play South Suburban most of the time since I live in Foxridge, and am also part of the men's club there. Let me know if you're ever up for a round.

Great minds think alike, we do currently have two times at the course on two different days and figured we'd either play both or pick the better looking weather day.  I can't wait!  I'll be pushing to keep both and playing it twice because....why not? May as well take advantage.

We also have times at Cougar Point, Osprey Point, and Turtle Point.  My buddy has played down there a few times so he's leading the charge on picking and booking times.  Excited to play all those other places too.

All of the Pointe courses are great too... just not quite The Ocean Course.  Most of our group hated The Ocean Course since they are not good players, got chewed up and just would never appreciate a course suitable for a PGA or US Open.

People sleep on the first set of holes at The Ocean Course, but they are a lot like the non-water holes at Pebble.  Their design is amazing and they are great holes that normal folks don't appreciate.  I did not see this until the second round.  Number 2 is one of my favorite holes that I have ever played and it is rarely shown on TV.  The whole front nine is amazing, but people don't see the beach right next to it and discount it.  Enjoy.  It is a treat.

You might recognize some of the holes if you watched The Legend of Bagger Vance.

If you see seafood places that look super sketchy like this, they are usually wonderful.  This one is Bowen's Island Restaurant.

Thanks for the warm welcome fellas! It looks like a stumbled into the right group! I'm always down to hit up South Sub @pseudoswede and @thaar.

@CDM Raccoon Creek is a somewhat interesting layout in that you have some forced lay ups and some risk reward holes but it was an easy Men's Club to get into. I may try to get into Lone Tree Men's Club but I've heard that's tough and South Sub next to impossible. Either way, I'm loving playing more competitive golf.

Looking forward to meeting and playing with some of y'all hopefully this year!

If you're looking for something on the weekends outside of Raccoon Creek, be sure to check out the traveling golf league that I'm a member of (Front Range Golf Club). Link is in my signature. It's not inexpensive, but we get (mostly) weekend morning tee times at most of the better courses in the metro area, and I believe we're most likely heading back to the Eisenhower Blue course for our season-ending invitational tournament.

If I play decent, I can usually pay for two or three tournaments with my winnings every season.

This looks really cool actually and a really solid lineup of courses too. I just might have to check this out.

Tulum to Playa is my favorite Mexico trip too - fly into Cozumel, ferry across and you can get taxi to take you anywhere cheaper than renting a car.  Avoid Cancun and the airport.  PGARM is awesome.  Mayakoba and El Chameleon were great too.  Never had a bad meal in any of those towns.  Don't know of a bad course there, but there probably are some.  Hit a ball into a cave at Mayakoba - first for me.

Does anybody else watch courses on TV that they have played and pass judgement when the pros are playing even though you know that the conditions are not the same?  I did this last weekend with the AT&T.  ...it is the little things in life.

Saw 60 on the weather app today and got excited... until the wind.  Going to try again tomorrow.  Have not played in 2 or 3 months, but time to get going again.

If any of you guys are ever in Tulum/Akumal, Mexico you have to play PGA Riviera Maya. It's really good, though extremely tough. The tee shots are tight and if you miss the fairway your ball is in the jungle 70% of the time. It was in fantastic shape too. I'm very curious what the KFT guys will shoot there. If they play the jungle as lost ball I bet the number is around -4 and if not it will be -12ish. I also just LOVED :classic_rolleyes: two par 3's at ~245 yards. 15 is into the prevailing wind so I hit 3w-2h-3w each day over water.

Also, put Akumal on your short list, it was also awesome. It's basically a one-road town with everything on two gorgeous bays. Great food, chill vibes, great golf nearby and awesome sea adventures. This has been our favorite Mexico trip so far.

Tight fairways and my game don't get along very well. I'm pretty sure I'd get eaten by an anaconda looking for my several shots in the jungle 😂

its a no from me dawg GIF

Went to Mountain Vista to hit balls today as they were off grass. My god, what a treat. Tight and firm yet spongy dormant turf, my favorite. “Turf interaction” at its finest. I am swearing off mats and artificial turf. For me they do nothing but give me tennis elbow and ruin my swing. If I can’t hit off grass, I’ll just wait. Man, Mountain Vista has a great range. Pretty over Collindale’s situation…

I've been yelling this for 20 years. Mats ruin me!

Yeah I haven’t been wanting to come crashing into the mat so it really flattened and shallowed my swing and I was coming way from the inside and not compressing the ball. Yuck. Crept into my driver game and I was topping and duck hooking everything. Went to the real grass and all was right with the world again.

Just a quick review of last year's events, it looks like we averaged around 32 per tournament. Looks like largest tournament was Raindance with 43 players. I believe if we exceed ~26 players, it's split into three flights; if we exceed ~38 players, four flights.

I'm terrible with ages, but I would guess that the age range is late-20s to 70s; late 40's/early 50's seems to be the majority, but it has been trending younger over the past few years.

I believe this will be my 14th season with the club, and I enjoy it. If you have any other questions, ask here or feel free to send me a DM.

Might depend where you're playing. I was in south Highlands Ranch tonight, and it was DUMPING. Red Hawk Ridge was planning to open on Saturday, but I think that's wishful thinking now.

South Suburban on Sunday.  Office is in Lone Tree so close.  Based on the snow this morning, it better be 50's and 60's today/tomorrow for Sunday play to be an option it seems.

We just got a dusting up north. It has already melted off the roads and sidewalks. No chance any courses open by Sunday though, there's still ~3" on the golf course.

I'm hoping for Tuesday
