So just for my knowledge, I want to get this straight because there is a lot of information and I want to make sure I'm understanding.  Callaway released TD Max in 9/10.5 even stating directly from Callaway that 9 degree would be available in LH in promo material.  Not on the Callaway site, but other outlets took orders for the LH heads....people ordered.

Now Callaway is saying that the LH promo material was a typo???  Yikes what a mess.

I just asked the person I order through to confirm that what Cally is sending me is in fact LH. So far, everything I’ve been sent confirms that what I’m supposed to be receiving a LH version. I have my tracking number, so I’ll report back when I receive it.

Swingspeed was equal as well?

I saw faster ballspeed on elyte standard over smoke td max,but it was primarily because I was swinging elyte faster.

Same overall headweight and swing weight, same shaft in each.

Yea, everything nearly equal.

I also liked the core Elyte, it felt better than the Elyte TD Max honestly and the numbers weren't too far off from the AI Smoke TD Max/Elyte TD Max.

Some flavor of the month driver.
Some driving iron for Links courses.

A hybrid to save my bad shots.
Titleist blades when I feel lucky otherwise something more forgiving.
A Vokey wedge or 2.
I hate every one of my 17 putters.

Picked up a TD max yesterday. Coming from GT3->GT2>Ping 440 LST all in the last 3 months.  Changing my current gamer shaft to a callaway tip but I was hitting the stock tensei pretty well and ball speeds where up to par with GT2/GT3

Why so much switching?  Is there something particular you are searching for the those drivers weren’t providing?

Probably because I'm on this forum daily now lol.

I'm looking for something that is similar in speeds in the GT3 but more forgiving on mishits. Also just wanting to try everything lol

Good luck!  I haven’t found anything as long as as forgiving as the gt3.

There’s longer, and more forgiving out there, but couldn’t find anything both.

The Elyte TD is the best driver Ive had so far. Very forgiving imo.

I’ve had problems with duckhooks etc. Made swing changes but this thing just want to baby fade everything. I hit every fairway last round I played.

Had the GT3 and lst 430 before.

Glazing but I’m very excited because I’ve never hit driver this good before!

setup:

Td 9*
adapter -1 with n setting.
ventus black 6tx 0.5” tipped.
45.5”

ss Cruise around 109-115 depending on weather. Bombing around 118-122

I read earlier that the Elyte TD Max is going to be US only...anyone got confirmation on this? The AI Smoke TD Max made a brief retail run in Europe but with one shaft option and no fitting, wondering whether it will be the same again?

Contrarian position on the Elyte TD Max:

I had nearly identical results between the Elyte TD max and the AI Smoke TD Max. Ball speed and spin within 2 mph and 200 rpm.

Obviously ymmv, but to me, this wasn't an evolutionary release, merely incremental.

interesting. Love My Td max smoke

This year's Elyte Core model "smoked" last years AI smoke max by a good 3 mph swing speed and 4 mph Ball speed with better dispersion. Hoping a new TD max comes to canada soon before the 50% trade in ends next week or i might just get the core model

100%. I gave the E-TD Max a good workout, but like its brother, the standard TD, it sits oddly open.  It may be weighted to close around the shaft during the swing but I don't need to see something sitting wide open at address.  I've never understood Callaway's design philosophy on that "open at address" vibe.  Good drivers, but as a sometimes inside-out swinger it can cause me to manufacture a neutral face by manipulating the grip prior to my swing.

PING and Titleist just sit square.  The PING LST might be slightly flatter than their other offerings, but at address it points at my intended line.  Same with GT2/GT3.

one thing that Callaway has touted for this year's models is that they made them faster with some aerodynamic changes. If you look heel side, you'll see there's more taper to the body probably to accomplish this effect. I wonder if because of that it leads to the head falling a little more open when placed down on the ground at address. I know that the cobra drivers have some built-in technology in the soul so that no matter what loft and lying angle setting, you put it at it forces, the head to lay any square alignment at address, which is a nice feature.

Interesting.

I played around with the Smoke Max last weekend but couldn't find any good reason to switch away from my TD Max besides I like the shape a bit more?  Was a bit slower but felt good.

Have you tried the Elyte TD yet?  I think I like the Elyte core looks better but from reviews the TD is a fantastic head.  Wondering what your results were like.

Wow unbelievable. Callaway told me they weren’t producing them when I called to order the day they were released.

played with the td max monday - still going very strong. the pairing with the ventus black TR for me is extremely solid. i missed just 2  fairways - one was absolutely on me hitting a draw instead of a cut; and the other just missed in the first cut.

ordered other weights for it - a 2,12, and 14g weight to tinker and see if we can get even more out of it.

To confirm, you are saying the TD is more forgiving than the GT3?  Or am I misinterpreting?  Glad to hear its working out for you!

The stock weights on the TD max were a little light for me, but dialing in the swingweight, the driver feels like it wants to go straight everytime. Toe is very forgiving on ball speed and spin rate. Theres not a world of difference in ball speed (getting 3 mph more) vs my ai smoke. But the spin consistency on a slightly high in the face strike is alot better. In my smoke i would see about 800 rpm more on that mishit and the elyte was jumping about 300 rpm and the launch angle was still below moonball territory

Posted this in another thread but thought I’d leave it here as well in case it helps anyone.

I finally got a chance to hit this on the range yesterday and again in a round, today. I played 9 outside and 9 in the simulator. The coolest thing about this is that it can be two totally different drivers (in my experience). If you need a low spin driver, this can fit the bill. If you need more spin, this can also work well for you.

A quick note about my game. I hover typically hover around 110-113 but because I’m in Iowa and the season is just underway, I’d estimate that I was closer to 105-108 yesterday and today. This was my first time on the range outside this year.

Yesterday on the range, I brought it to compare against my GT2. I have recently changed bags and didn’t move everything from one to another, so I didn’t have a tool with me to make changes. This was pry the most rookie I’ve felt in a long time. 😁

On the range, I was a bit disappointed with the TD Max as everything was low launch and low spin. I had a couple balls that were absolute monsters but overall, I was convinced the GT2 was better as it was set up for me and I didn’t miss with it. I actually left the range session to open golfwrx and had another golfwrx’er reach out saying to let him know if I wanted to get rid of it. I told him I’d make a deal because the GT2 was so good and I didn’t want to force a driver change. Thank goodness was that he didn’t follow through on his originally outreach.

When I got home, I got my tool out and realized the heavy weight was up front and I made the switch. I also added a degree of loft, taking it from an 9 to 10*, and it definitely looked and felt right.

I took it out today and, WOW. For me, this ended up being a more forward flying GT2. The launch increased, the spin picked up a touch, and this was carrying about 8 yards further than the GT2.

Im not done with testing and I realize this was less than scientific but based on 9 holes outside and 9 in a simulator today, this is definitely in the running to be my 2025 driver.

To me, this seems like a GT2.5. Just as forgiving but longer, for me.

The adjustability really allows this to stand out and fit a lot of players.

More testing to come in the coming days and weeks but REALLY liking this.
