Greetings,

How’s the golf in Austin in February?

Our daughter asked us to watch her pups next month while she’s away. I’d. love to play some golf while we are there. We have access to the invited clubs. I just don’t want to bother packing clubs for my wife and I if the course conditions are too uncomfortable for my little lady.

Any local information would be greatly appreciated. (My daughter doesn’t play golf)

It should be fine, but just check the weather the week before. You could catch a cold week, for example like this week, where it will be below 50 for 5 days. Next week it will be back up around 60, which is normal. It's usually very sunny, so 60 in the afternoon is a pleasant day of golf. Course conditions are good. Winter is arguably the best season here with the dormant bermuda since there is actually a little bit of firmness.

Grew up down there and totally agree. If you catch a dry week in the winter it's the best and hardest it can play. Have fun. Courses in Austin are so tight and tree lined.

Dormant bermuda with firm ground is going to be the norm with Texas winters, so yeah, I would er on the side of low bounce wedges.

February/March are generally the best months to play golf in Texas. It could also be frozen solid for a week. Or it could be 93 degrees with 85% humidity.

Geeze you hit that on the head. We’ve been here a couple weeks. Mostly drizzling and cold. Hit 28 a few times but… tomorrow is supposed to be 70! Got a tee time at Crystal Falls. It was the closest course to my daughter’s house.
