JPX 925 Forged

The poster below you posted some great comparison pics from a visual standpoint.

My personal experience is that the 925F is more similar to the zxi5, and I think most people would be cross shopping those two models. Most YouTube reviews compare those two models as well. I recommend trying all of them out to see which one you like.

I understand what you’re saying as far as the category comparison, but in reality the 925 Forged is like a combo of the ZX5/ZX7. They’re larger than the 7’s in long irons by a smidge but smaller than the 5’s. But when you get into the scoring irons they are the same or smaller then the 7’s. The one thing I agree on is if you’re just talking forgiveness then they are on par with the 5’s and not the 7’s.

The 925 Forged is basically a combo set straight from the factory.  4-7 are basically ZXi5, albeit smaller sole and a smidge skinnier topline.  The 8-GW are basically the ZXi7.  I get very similar numbers when I compare my 925F 6 iron to a ZX5 6 iron, and same for comparisons of my 925F 9 iron and my ZX7 9 iron.

The reason most reviews compare the ZX5 and 925F is fitting irons are the 7 iron, and the 7 is the last "faster" club in the 925F set.

I have not looked up the specs, and it may be a visual thing, but the ZX5 and ZXi5 both appear to have more offset than the 925.

I really really wanted to like these, they were my first choice for plenty of good reasons. But I ended up with the pro 245 instead, i don't think i went wrong but i was leaning 925 forged real hard until i seen the data.

Has anyone tested these against the 925 HMP? What differences did you see?

I did, extensively, with the same shaft.  I found the HMP “hotter” but not necessarily in a good way.  Launch angle was fine, but spin and decent were a bit low.  The launch, spin and descent were great with the forged, but I definitely noticed they were less forgiving than the HMP.  I guess it’s a give and take.

I need some help with forgiveness and didn't feel like I was picking up much with the forged vs my current king tours.

I have both sets (925FB & 925 HMP) with same shafts & grips.  The HMP are Hotter/Louder/Slightly Tingy, where as the Forged are Softer/Quieter/Better Feeling.  Forgiveness wise, its easy to say the HMP are better, but its by minimal margins for me.  They are slightly more confidence inspiring due to larger head/top lines.  You could definitely combo them you'd just have to be careful of the loft difference in the longer irons...ex: my 5 iron in the Forged is 24' where the HMP 6 iron is 24'.  So that could lead you to having (2) 6 irons or something like that combo.

I have been playing jpx forged since 919. Now playing 923 forged for third season. I love them, but man the tech chamge in the 925 are seriously interesting me.  I am also shutting after some older forged miz withthw titanium inserts in the cavity backs I am thinking like mp 68 or something along those lines. Something with. 34deg  7i.

I really want a complete second set to experiment with. Leave my gamers alone till I put backup set through paces on changes.  But if I pull trigger on 925 forged which i am very close to pulling trigger.  Then maybe i relegate the 923 to backup set.

I am playing project x io 5.5  right now and like the smooth feel.and decent mid launch.

I picked up a complete set of mmt 105s pulls at what inyhjnlnis a great deal $302 all in for 4-lw, 10 shafts for $30 per.

Its worth tying them before I buy new irons.  I think the project x io 5

5 are softer and launch a little higher them the mmt.that being said I only have 27holes in withheld project x io.

I totally regret selling a set of kbs tour 105s in black and few years ago. Bot sure why I ever sold those shafts. They where sweet.

I did not end up with the forged. I went back to my old clubs for the time being (AP1 710), and I’ve been toying around lately with an old set of G400s. The issue I had with the hot metal pro was that I thought they were more forgiving than the forged, but the reality is that if they were more forgiving, it was not by much. also, I thought the shorter irons were small for the category. And the thing that concerns me about the forged is that you can only demo a seven iron which is similar in construction to the five and six, but you can’t demo an 8, 9 or pitching wedge to see how those feel.

I’m currently a 6.3 index, but for whatever reason some of these smaller headed irons scare me for lack of a better word.  I’m seriously considering going with a set of G430s.

I haven’t hit the 243….but had the 245’s last year and now play the 925FB. I would imagine the 243 quite a bit less forgiving vs the 245 & 925. I enjoyed the 245’s a lot, but only when I was playing 2-3x a week and not 1x a week or every other week. The 925 have been great regardless of how many times I play. Forgiveness of the 245 vs 925 isn’t a huge difference, but the 925 “for me” fit all the things I was looking for for quite some time.

I had the 925s and 243s at the same time and currently play the 243s. I'm a 7HC and don't find the 243s much more work at all. I did notice more forgiveness on the 925s toe shots but thin wasn't any really difference. I just got better turf interaction with the 243s for some reason and I noticed a big feel difference from the 8 to 7 irons in the 925s. Much more clicky so I moved on.

Anyone hit these with the Dart 90 shafts?  I ordered with MMT 85 and hate them.

I havent hit them in the  forged but have hit the dart 90 in the hmp. Feel reminds me of a lighter version of dg105 s300 but with a little more launch and spin.

Not sure if my tempo can handle a 90 gram shaft long term but I like the feel.

any more forgiving then JPX 825 pro?

I currently play the 825 pros and have since they were released, and had a chance to demo the 925F, and I think it is a bit more forgiving for my swing. On my bad swings, I tend to get a little under the plane and high on the face. 925F maintained speed/spin/launch better. I think they look very similar at address. Definitely feel as good if not better out of the center.

These irons are so damn GOOD. Hitting a nice high draw with MMT 105TX(Love Mizuno for no upcharge on shafts). I usually play Axioms but I am loving this setup. I will get into single digits for sure this year because of these irons. The ho in me is already eyeing the new T150 though LOL

Anyone compare project io 5.5 to mmt 105s.

I have a complete set of mmt 105s shafts sitting here waiting to go into my miz jpx923 forged.

Was playing dg 105s but getting a little older, left elbow gets beat up a little so was looking for a little softer shaft.

So far I like the px io, but itching to put those mmt 105s in  my bag.

I did play the PX io 5.5 for a while and honestly it is not a huge difference in feel or performance for me. Granted it was not side by side testing but I did put the 5.5 in two sets of clubs and played them for quite a while so they agreed with me and I don't waste time if it does not work right out of the box.

It would be interesting if the Ei curve thing is similar with the PX io 5.5, Steelfiber cw 95 r and the mmt 105s. if they are all different that proves I know nothing and feel is just that.

I would recommend trying one MMT shaft before buying a full set. I like the Project X IO 5.5 a lot but to me the MMT is kind of lifeless. Lots of players rave about them so this is just my preference and I think it is mostly that I like steel more than graphite. To me these two shafts do not feel alike. At 105g in graphite, I like the Recoil Dart 105. Just one opinion.

I somewhat agree with your statement about the MMT.  Just holding a club in my hand and a little wiggle test, the MMT feels “heavy” and “firm”….but, the second I start actually swinging the clubs I feel like it comes to life. A total different feel in the swing vs just holding it.

Well, that is true for most shafts. But I didn’t waggle it, that means nothing. I installed and played a set of the MMT 105’s for a while and kept trying to like it. Ultimately did not keep it. Really, I’d take a number of graphite shafts instead. Kinetixx Ballistic, Accra, Recoil Dart, KBS, Steelfiber. It surprised me because I am a Diamana fanboy and generally love Mitsubishi driver and fairway shafts but in the MMT I think they went too far in trying to make it stable with the amount of metal mesh. It performs well enough but I didn’t find it a fun shaft to play. I went back to steel and I guess I just prefer the action of steel shafts. All I’m saying is I would recommend installing one to see how it goes because they’re not cheap.

I get what you’re saying, that’s why there’s so many shafts out there to try. I hated Steelfiber in 95 and 110….liked the Recoil 110 in F5 but not F4, loved the 125 F4, enjoyed the Fuji Pro TS 115 and really loving the MMT 105s now.
