If you ordered a gap wedge it is back ordered until September and the mmt 85 regular shafts have been back ordered and due to be in hopefully by the end of this week (they were supposed to be back in stock end of May but missed that ship date)

If that’s the case so they send the rest first?

Ok... So like many of us here, I am an equipment nut but trade in and out of sets rather than have multiple.

To start the year I had T200 4i and T150 5-PW which I absolutely loved and played very good golf over the last year and change. My son is a good golfer and same size as me now so I gave him my set a few months ago so he could use for high school season and he played well with them.

Knowing I had 6mo or so until Titleist's release, I ended up purchasing a set of 3DPs which I initially liked but ultimately thought the short irons were too chunky and just could never get comfortable. I then went to the complete opposite end of the spectrum and just got a stock set of S-3s 4-PW which may be the prettiest clubs I have ever seen but while I am a good ball striker the 4 and 5 iron are just tough to be consistent and really nothing I liked to combo with.

So that brings me to the 925 Forged. Tried these clubs a week ago and was so impressed I brought the S-3s back and traded into a set of 925 Forged Black which look amazing. I just played today for the first time with these clubs and couldn't be more impressed. Spin rate was solid and held green beautifully. Had a horrendous low miss and ball carried to target. Feel so much softer than the T150s.

If this keeps up these may be the set I play with for the forseeable future. The DG 115 Tour Issue S400 shafts that came with them also are a good fit for me.

All in all just super impressed with what Mizuno has done with the 925 Forged.

Just ordered a set of JPX925 Forged with Recoil Dart 90 F3 in 5i-GW for my 14 year old son. His first set of adult clubs coming from USKidsGolf stuff.

For anyone looking at these for a junior, they fit him well because (in no particular order):

1.  He needs a Players Distance iron. Especially in the 5i-7i range.

2. His miss is generally toe side. These performed exceptionally well in the forgiveness area on that miss.

3. He is able to work the ball in both directions. Stock shot is baby draw.

4. He likes the look standing over the club. Subjective, but you do have to like what you are looking at.

5. He likes the feel of the 925F best.

Tried out P790, P770, T200, Blueprint and the older JPX923 Tour.  Tried out multiple shafts in the 80-105g range of steel and graphite makeup and primarily R Flex as both the A-Flex and S-Flex were not working in any variant early on in the testing.

Personally, I like how the 8i-GW don't have the tech in them, as the 5i-7i do, so that mishits with these "scoring irons" will be punished appropriately/reasonably. Also picked him up a T-1 Blue Ion 56/10 M-Grind wedge. He doesn't know that I ordered it just yet. He's gonna be a happy camper later when he finds out. 🙂

Here's the full bag:

Driver: Cobra SZ with Ventus Red Velocore 5 R-Flex

3W: TM Stealth 2 HL (16.5*) with Ventus Red A-Flex

5W: Cobra F9 5-6W (set to 20*) with Ventus Red A-Flex

5H: TM Sim2 Max (25*) with Ventus Blue A-Flex

5i-GW: JPX 925F with Recoil Dart 90 R-Flex

Wedge: T-1 56/10 M-Grind with DG shaft (probably change this shaft out)

Putter: Ping Karsten TR Anser 5 and/or Hogan(ardi) BHB5-SS

Being a junior, he will likely outgrow some stuff pretty quickly. You can watch them start to change right in front of your eyes (strength, swing speed, emotions, dedication). I expect I'll be getting new shafts in the driver/fairways soon.

Did you try the 925s with the KBS C-taper lites? Curious on your thoughts and how they compare to DG.

Funnily enough I don't think I have ever hit that shaft.  The Mizuno swing optimiser put me in Mid 115, Nippon 115, Project X (can't recall the model) and DG 120 x.  Narrowed it down to the Nippon and Mid, and simply preferred the meaty DG thump, and the DG was harder to turn over.  I like to see a fade.

I'd trade my JPX923 Forged in, but I can't see how these would grow hair on my head or improve my game significantly.  Seriously, I'm fine with last year's model with a graphite reshaft. My vintage play set is also Mizuno. 😁 Should I turn in my WRX golfer card now?

Not to turn this into a Junior thread, but my 14 y/o son is now on his 3rd season gaming a set of 919 Forged - he loves them.  The Forged series is a fantastic iron.  One thing to be aware of is that your son will probably outgrow those R and A shafts pretty quickly.  My kid’s 919’s started out with DG105 R300s and I just had to reshaft them all with DG120 S300s.  His swing speed got quick enough that everything became a moon shot and he was losing a lot of distance.

Got them today. Gap wedge is in there.

Only took two out. The five iron doesn’t look Iike it is a degree flat.  Gap wedge does.

I love Mizuno- but have gotten few sets of irons and handful of wedges last couple years and clubs are always out of spec just need to take them to a local retailer and get spec checked won’t cost more than a few dollars/club

Do the forged tend to produce hot shots on well struck balls like the 225s did? I am gaming the 223s now because I would get fliers when I got fitted a few years ago.  Forged look great thoug.

That’s what I’ve read a few times. As I get them out I’ll take a better look and see which ones need checked.

No fliers, just pure joy and forgiveness on every shot.  Great irons.

Yes, he will likely outgrow those shafts relatively quickly. He's not a kid with elite swing speed (72mph on the 7-iron during our testing). Puberty is still coming (late bloomer).

Couple of posts mentioning that some of the heads are out of stock? Anyone with more details on that? Been thinking about placing an order but I don’t want to mess around with waiting forever.

Can confirm that it is the the regular (non black) heads.  Ordered 6/3 and just got an email today that they are back ordered until 7/18...😐

Didn’t work out?
those are my favorite shafts.  I just woukd want the black heads.  I still haven’t hit the 925 forged.  It’s on my list with the new P790 and Maxfli XC2. Honestly, the Maxflis are the ones to beat for me right now.  I would need to see/feel a big difference for me to want something else.
