No idea what however Given that they dropped the price on the Triad late last year, I'm assuming it will be the new version of the Triad or whatever is replacing it. The current version of the Staff Model and X came out a year ago, so I'd be surprised if the new ball is "tour level." ShakeyT
They need a refresh to the Duo. It shook up the golf world when they released it, but it's gone stale. Change the name, make it a tad firmer & make the colors in non-matte & I think it would re-spark interest. Hoping against hope that they bring back the pan dimples from the original Zips too, but that won't happen.

I feel for Wilson. Life aint fair. They create the market for ultra low compression balls, only for Callaway to copy it and come to dominate it. Just like how some people hammer Wilson for selling box sets but I never hear anyone criticize Callaway for doing the same. I know the Triad is up for a refresh, not sure on the Duo. Looks like latest Duo came out in 2023, so maybe. This my one issue with Wilson. Their product cycles and releases are not consistent. I was afraid of what they were going to do to this ball. According to the Spy site they soften the ball up to a compression of 80 even though the website says 84 Less driver spin, more distance and a little less iron spin. I will give this a go and I have to say, if I had one complaint about the ball, it was that it spun too much on my iron shots Also the new side stamp sucks Quote Driver -TaylorMade QI 10ls 5 Wood - PING G425 16* Hybrid PING G410 22* Irons - PING G440 6-52 Wedges - Cleveland Zipcore CBX 54* ; Cleveland CBX Zipcore Full Face 58* Putter - PXG Battle Ready Closer-34" Ball- TP5x pix

treputt
Wal-Mart has the old version on sale for $29.97 locally and I think I'm going to head down and grab a couple of boxes. I stumbled upon the Triad late in the season and I really liked it. I like a higher compression ball and usually play the TP5x.
ArcticSound
@TheBear95 @ShakeyT Looks like a refreshed Duo as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBfueoMVkXk?feature=shared Their YouTube has new 30-second spots up for Triad, Duo Soft, and Staff Model/X. The spots look really good. I wouldn't be surprised if Wilson is going to invest more in advertising during tournaments. You don't make three exactly 30-second long promo vids unless you plan to make some TV ad buys. Also, the new boxes/packaging for the Duo Soft and Triad look great. Excited to see Wilson continue their push into a more upmarket aesthetic with their latest releases. If you go to any of the Midwest traveling golf shows, you can usually score a great deal on Wilson balls. Last year, I picked up a box of Triads for $20. petero
I always like wilson stuff. I liked their Triad better than the Staff Model. I was playing the Maxfli Tour x a lot last year but have decided to go for compression in the low 90's instead of 100s (seems to help with putting and short game). The triad was softer than that but still feels great... but their price is too high. I can get srixon zstar diamonds consistently for less than 40 and often less than 30 a box. I'm with you, the 2022 version is about the softest I like to go with a golf ball. I also really like the 2024 Wilson Staff (non-X), but it's at the high end of what performs best for me. If I found Walmart clearing out the old Triad's for $25, I would really jump on that. TKS
I was a big FGtour fan, final version 4 piece is/was Goldilocks. treputt
Just an FYI. Wal-Mart has officially started their golf ball clearance. Oddly enough the old Triads are marked $34.97 here locally, but the 4 piece Staff Model is now down to $30. Grabbed two boxes of Staff Model as well as some Srixon Z Star that they marked down to $29. The Wilson Duo Soft were marked down to $10.50 in yellow.

scott406
These came in on Friday afternoon so I was able to put them in play over the weekend I did not have a chance to do a direct comparison of the new and old Triad or compare them to any other ball. That will probably be done this week As far as the new Triad it played a lot like the old Triad I found myself in my normal locations off the tee. Flew nice and high off my irons Ball was one hop and stop a lot of times I did not back up any of my irons shots but that could have been due to the greens being firm. It did not spin like a TP5, but I could get some check when chipping from around the green or out of bunkers It did feel slightly softer off the putter, but I had trouble noticing any real difference. Could have been mental because they said they soften it up Of course it rolled beautifully on putts. I still like the old side stamp better, but it is not a deal breaker Hit a few trees and had minimal scuffing, nothing that made me take the ball out of play Very pleased with what I have seen so far When I can get some time to do a direct comparison of the Triad against my current gamer Chrome Tour, I will be back Also have some old Triads so I will see how the new one stacks up against it predecessor About me SS:96-99(driver) hcp: 8 I so not work the ball at all So I cannot comment on the workability of the ball If you have any questions, I will try my best to answer 1 1 Quote Driver -TaylorMade QI 10ls 5 Wood - PING G425 16* Hybrid PING G410 22* Irons - PING G440 6-52 Wedges - Cleveland Zipcore CBX 54* ; Cleveland CBX Zipcore Full Face 58* Putter - PXG Battle Ready Closer-34" Ball- TP5x pix

scott406
Played a few holes yesterday with the old Triad and the new Triad Not much of a difference between them Both were the same distance off the driver(within a yard or 2 of each other), both hopped and stopped on the green (never really backed either of them up) And of course they rolled beautifully on the greens When playing the new vs the old, I could feel the new one was a bit softer off the putter. Next time will test them against my current gamer the Chrome Tour Quote Driver -TaylorMade QI 10ls 5 Wood - PING G425 16* Hybrid PING G410 22* Irons - PING G440 6-52 Wedges - Cleveland Zipcore CBX 54* ; Cleveland CBX Zipcore Full Face 58* Putter - PXG Battle Ready Closer-34" Ball- TP5x pix

golfortennis
Once I play through my stash of 2023 ProVs i think I will be switching to the Staff X. In part because Mizuno doesn't seem to want to allow anyone to sell a sleeve, and I don't want to spend money on a dozen of a ball I may not like. But I really enjoyed playing the Staff X the last few weeks.
Ty_Guy
I tried out the Wilson Staff X for the first time last week. It was one of those days where everything felt "on," but drives went farther and chips checked down faster than my beloved Chrome Tours. I want to see them perform on an off day to be sure. Though, if I were to buy a new box of balls today, they would be Wilson Staff X. 1 Quote Callaway AI Smoke TD Max, LA Golf Gold Series 65x Testing: Callaway Paradym TD 5w, LA Golf Bryson Series 75s -120g vs 105g iron shafts, Avoda Combo Length Titleist GT2 7w, LA Golf A Series Mid 80s Cobra King Tec Utility 4u & 5u, LA Golf L Series 120s Avoda Single Length 6-LW, LA Golf Bryson Series 125s/x Scotty Cameron Fastback 1.5 Studio Style, LA Golf Soho 135; Wilson Staff X ball & MCC +4 grips
PedronNiall
Wilson is a strange company. They have boxes and boxes and boxes of the new Duo on display at all retailers. Different colors, even options with different stripes, you can find them aplenty. What you can't find is the yellow version of their premium ball. Everywhere I went they had one stack deep of the standard Staff Model, one of the Model X, and that's it, but literally shelves or tables full of the duo in every variety under the sun. Preference is for hi-vis, so I'm back to Srixon and trying the new Maxflis to see how I take to them for now.
