What do you think Mizuno S1, 2 & 4 will be?

Mizuno my fav iron hands down ; I think their steel making practices are second to none ; this is being very nitpicky, but over the years I have not liked the size of their scoring irons nine and pitching ledge.  
 

If anyone can elaborate how does the s3 compare to the cb620 pw

Have not heard anything, but would make a lot of sense to base either the S1 or the S2 on the KM92 proto that Cashmere Keith is using (i.e. a modern MP29)

The pro at my course who is tight with the Mizuno rep confirmed that the S-3 is inspired by SC MP-18 and suggested the S-1 will be influenced by the MP-18 (which I still game and think quite underrated but Keith Mitchell loved them, so there's that). I would love to see a modern MP-29 (another of Cashmere's faves). I think a Cut-Muscle S-2 like the MP-32/MP-67 is a great guess and would be extremely well-received. Fingers crossed. Whatever they come up with the S-3 (which I saw in person 2 days ago and to which pictures don't do justice, it's drop dead gorgeous!) has me thinking us old school mizuno blade fans are going to be extremely happy. Love hearing a 6 year product cycle as someone who plays a set for a decade or more. 

2over, do you know what the science behind the cut muscle is? My mp57s have them but not sure they they cut the muscle. Particularly because these days the mizuno 241 specifically has muscle behind the sweet spot.

The Mizuno Pro 24x are due for their bi-annual model replacement/refresh this Fall. The real question is does Mizuno really need the Signature, Pro, and JPX lines in a market geography where they are not a top 5 OEM? I suspect we'll see the Pro and Signature lines merge, with several muscle backs, several cavity back (of various depths and designs), and a single hollow body Players Distance iron. For example, why would you need a MP 261 if the Signature line is getting 1 or 2 muscleback irons launching in the next couple of years. This would allow Mizuno to extend the life cycle of the Signature/Pro lineup, and allow the JPX to carry on with a bi-annual refresh strategy. But it's pure speculation at this point.

If I would guess, I think the pure muscleback iron from the Pro line will be dropped, and instead we get a MB as the next signature release 

 

The Pro then will have a cavity back, hollow body Player's distance, and some sort of club about the players distance. Like a slightly bigger hollow body club that they market as some sort of enhanced GI iron, like Cobra does with the Tech X. Or a higher lofted hollow body club like how Titleist is doing with the upcoming T250

Gumpy: I think the tech behind the cut muscle is updated in the MP-5--the "channel back" thing appearing to my eye a similar take on that idea, but with more mass behind the center of the clubface. And yes, I think the 241 blades with the "tapered blade" are doing something very similar. I would guess the S1 will not have anything like that, but be "pure muscle back" but good chance the S2 has tapered blade/channel back in a slightly larger profile? I think that would be a winning 1-2!

Why only announce 1 club? If they wait on the S4, they risk losing business to the T250, new Apex Ti Fusion line, etc.

They already have multiple models that compete with the T250 such as the 925 Forged. The signature line will have longer product cycles which is probably why they are rolling them out one by one starting with the S-3.

That would be like going shopping at Target because Brunello Cucinelli’s Fall/Winter release was delayed a week.

 

The type of gentleman that wields Mizuno irons doesn’t even know what those other two things are. Mizuno men are connoisseurs of the finer things in life, something Callaway and Titleist iron users know nothing about.
