I think I'd probably do more fittings too. Lots and lots of them. Probably too much data.

I have a good idea of what I would go for. Unlimited budget means I could get fit for the best possible shafts and specs. I imagine they would be somewhat similar to the profiles I’m currently using, but it sure would be fun to try out absolutely everything and just get whatever works best. Probably the biggest impact would be a full wedge fitting to really figure out the best lofts and grinds.

 

G440 driver, fairways, hybrids

Mizuno 243 irons

Miura wedges

For putter I would go fully handcrafted custom, something like Mack Made.

Miura combo set, Kyoei combo, Mizuno YORO custom irons, Srixon or Cobra 3D irons. Gotta demo LAB TPT for putter or Toulon Carbon Proto with Diamana or any carbon steel putter with a BGT one shaft would be legit. Ventus, Diamana, Autoflex or GD AD for driver shaft. Fully custom Vokey wedges with all extras including custom topline.

Two initial fittings: one from Cool Clubs, one from Forward Golf. Compare the results, then order the most gorgeous set of blades in the bunch that suit my magnificent swing, shafted up in specs that got me the most consistent results. 

 

Rinse and repeat for the driver. 

 

And, for my final act: paying to have one of the retired OGs from Edel accompany me to a SAM Lab checkup to make sure I'm still in an optimal setup and then having an AI One, White Hot redux, and a custom Scotty TeI3 built up to my specs then refinished to look brand spanking new. Rotate as the mood strikes.

I would get the best possible fitting from Cool Clubs or someone with unlimited tour equipment reaches, with all of the custom shafts, potentially custom irons (like a one-off Callaway TCB set in lefty) and hand-ground wedges weighted perfectly, and a custom Scotty from the tour department, fit for me.

I keep trying to "upgrade" it, trialing all sorts of new stuff and just selling it at a loss lol.

Money no object I'm having shafts designed for me. Seven dreamers used to offer this. While no one advertises it, I think Accra would be open to it, although I could be totally off base. 

 

But slightly more realistically if I'm in the US I'm being fit by Cool Clubs, in the UK by Precision Golf, or wherever Ian Fraser ends up. And I'm being fit into whatever I'm told! Actually that's slightly within reason, as there are some golf clubs that just don't fit the eye. 

 

If I'm guessing it's a titleist or ping driver, a TM fairway, ping hybrids, and Srixon irons. Probably vokey wedges due to the sheer amount of options. Very settled in steelfiber shafts but wood shafts are a total crapshoot.

I think in general 10-15 years ago there was a lot more what i'd call kind of trendy aftermarket stuff then there is now. There was a certain amount of cache associated with Adams tour van stuff, shafts like Matrix Xcons and TP7s. Scratch clubs from the tour build (the ones that were 2500$ for a custom set). When PXG first came out there was a bit of that

 

I think so much is available and customizable now that there is less "exotic" stuff and overall less panache when it comes to equipment. PXG doesn't really impress anyone anymore. The 3D printed cobras were nice but were only unique for like 6 months. 300$ shafts are common as stock offerings now. 

 

I switch clubs every 6 months like Pure used to.....but clubs just aren't as cool as they were IMO

I think it's possible a certain equipment fatigue can set in.  Such is what has happened with me a couple times over the last 25 years.  

 

Maybe it's more about having achieved the pinnacle that is the Ram Tour Grind. 😉

I would keep this simple.  Go to Artisan for irons, wedges and putter.  Fly to AZ and do a proper fitting at Ping for woods.  That would be two pretty amazing experiences.  Then, I’d open a hell of an ad on bst to sell it all after 2 months because WRX… 😂
