Didn't someone say the Limit3D and 3DP were the same head with different labeling?

That’s what I thought too?  I’d be disappointed if the cheaper retail version out performed the LE  version if I was an early adopter.

I personally know Jose, the VP of Marketing, and he confirmed they are in fact the same exact head and construction other than logo/labeling

That’s got to be disappointing to some people. Interesting strategy but I understand a trial run to see if people are interested. Still, I think I would have changed something up a little just to make the early adopters feel like they got something out of spending the extra coin. Even more odd is that the Limit3D is still on the site for $3K at the same time they are promoting online and shipping identical clubs through dealers for $500+ less.

They need to sell them for maximum $ to fund the expansion of production.  If enough people buy them at the current price point they'll be able to offer the custom versions for half the price in 5 years theoretically.  So all you rich dudes buy them up for those of us that can't yet.  🙂

It is ridiculous to think that a club company would gatekeep some technology released a year prior to make a rounding error number of people happy.

I kinda figured that they would make some improvement or offer a different option. I mean, how is a 'Limited' actually limited if it is planned to be placed on the market in relatively close proximity (just over 6 months) to the original release only at a cheaper price tag? The Limit3D wasn't even released until into June. Besides, the 'rounding number' likely includes primarily people who fall into 2 important categories of consumers: 1) Early Adopters & 2) Wealthy spenders. Not sure I'd want to alienate those people from a sheer marketing perspective. I'm already using a flow set of CB & MB, and I don't really want to drop $3K on clubs, so I am not out anything. I can only state how I would see things if I had.

Doesn't Scotty Cameron do this every year with their releases of "limited" putters, to only release them to the public the next season... This isn't that surprising... that's the price you pay to have 1/500 printed on your irons, with a nice Cobra badging... I don't hate them for this, it's just how the biz works

Yeah. I'm more excited about what comes next. This is the first commercial 3d printed iron. The next iterations from Cobra and other manufacturers are likely to be more amazing as the research into design matures. I think the next 5 years will be exciting

Exactly. This is the Innovation Adoption Curve. As PNW said, early adopters pay the most the vast majority of the time. All OEMs do this, just on a different schedule. It’s no different than picking up “last year’s model” for a cut of the price. This is simply a more aggressive timeline. PXG does this exactly. They drop the price of their products roughly 25% after the initial launch and the early adopters have come and gone.

Clearly. I have been an early adopter for technology since I was a teen, but I am also aware that if Apple came out next year with the iPhone 17 Pro and stated that they were going to charge $2000 for the first six months but then would release an identical phone six months later for $500 less, people would be screaming.

Don’t get me wrong: it doesn’t bother me from a capitalistic perspective. Cobra can and should what is in the best interest of the company as long as it isn’t unethical, but I think it could set a bad precedent for them in the future if people suspect in the future that they may act the same way with some new product.

I may have missed it. Do we know when the embargo is lifted/when we expect an announcement from Cobra? Also curious when pre-orders will start at the big box retailers like Golf Galaxy.

I mean Apple doesn't do it because Apple but that happens all the time with tech products. Its why people wait for Black Friday to buy things like phones and tvs and such.

Even iPhone prices drop or can be found on sale as the new release gets announced. And golf clubs frequently go on sale or drop in price during their first year. I don't know that the original purchasers will be that disappointed. It is the nature of golf equipment for prices to go down and new releases with improvements coming out.

It seems everyone who has hit the Limit3d's has positive things to say. I really don't need a new set of irons, let alone at such a high price point, but it seems these clubs may be objectively better than anything else available. It'll be exciting to see the clubs over the next few years that utilize 3d printing technology.

Totally understand where you're coming from

It may not quite be apples to apples but its basically like Callaway's ai smoke tactical camo last year that was $700 instead of $600 bc it is "limited." Same club, different cosmetics. Of course the difference is the 3d irons released first so you figure thats the price until the 3DP releases 9 months later for $500 less

but essentially its like any club or shaft that is "limited edition" for a higher price bc they're different

9.7% wider sole than a ZX7 ii. I played a full sim round with them last night. Still getting used the MMT 105TX. They are very stiff, but reduce my hooks.

It’s only sim golf, but the short and long irons are spectacular. The middle irons are a little harder to discern from the ZX7s. Very glad I ordered the gap.

I’ve had shoulder pain that’s really limited my playing this year and decided I need to go to graphite. The 3DPs with MMT were no up charge, so the high price point wasn’t so bad.

That's good to know. I have hand and wrist issues and when I priced out the Cobra King Tour irons last year, Cobra wanted an upcharge for MMT and steelfiber shafts. I've hit the MMT 105 stiff shafts in other irons and they seem to be a good fit for me.

I'll probably wait until there are more reviews, but I suspect these clubs would be a great fit for me.

Not sure what flex you’re looking at, but the 105TX was noticeable stiffer than the 125TX. Vibration reduction is better in the 125 as well. I ordered the 125TXs, but there was a mixup with the shop and I was sent the 105TXs, which probably are a better fit for my left miss, so it worked out.
