Cobra King 3DP Tour

I wonder if the feel in the Tour and 3DP can be attributed to construction style (metal layered upon metal v.  Forged), the fact that it is stainless steel and the amount of tungsten in the head.

A little past the 6:00 mark in BK’s video with Cobra, they touch on the construction and why it feels the way it does.

I actually have both a set of KT’s and a flow set of CB/MB, both with MMT 105’s. Both have a fantastic feel. I find the KT’s a little more forgiving, but when I’m swinging well, the flow set is hard to beat. I’ve played the outdoors often and fine the turf interaction to be superb. As would be expected, hitting the MB just a little fat definitely alters contact and ball flight. The KT’s are clearly a bit more forgiving there with the slightly wider sole, but still go through the turf very efficiently after striking the ball.

All of them are fantastic clubs. One of these days I’ll put my 3-5 KT’s, 6-8 CB’s and 9-G MB’s in the bag and see how they work for me as an ultra-flow set.

Nice thanks for the insight. My setup is black 5-6KT, 7-PW CB. Black $taper 130  Looking forward to spring

Ok I got some clarification. This was straight from my fitter (actual cobra employee, not an agnostic fitter).  He happened upon me today at another local golf event and said hello so I got the chance to ask him about the differences between Limit3D and 3DP.

3DP - slightly longer blade length, slightly more offset, and 90g of tungsten instead of 100g tungsten with Limit3D.

He said they used same cosmetics except for the logo, and same material types. Said the reduction of tungsten is what help drive down the price from the Limit3D.

Their catalog says up to 100g tungsten in 3DP. Wonder if the Cobra fitter or the Cobra catalog is right.

Or I wonder if he was specifically talking about the 7 iron.  Maybe longer irons have more to assist with launch?

Im not sure if this was already covered, but in theory the tolerances should be much tighter correct?

Yes and at a higher cost but is that tighter tolerance necessary  compared to a standard forged iron?

PXG gave that a try in 2019 when they introduced their 0311 ST blades 100% milled from a triple forged billet of 8620 carbon steel.

These blades retailed for $650 per club marketed as the most precise made iron heads ever produced!

PXG  had many computer controlled milling machines churning out these iron heads, but the cost prevented the irons from getting enough traction to continue their manufacture and PGX no longer makes full heads but does mill the backs of their more expensive Gen irons still today.

Will Cobras 3DP irons catch on enough at their higher cost to survive?

This was the iron price pennicle for PXG that founder Bob Parsons had always said they would make the best irons possible regardless of price.

I did see someone say that. I’m not exactly trying to argue against that. All I can say is that the two felt markedly different to me. And I liked 3DP better.

Fair question. By techy, the best I can articulate is that it seemed I could feel the face flex almost. Not sure if that’s reality, but that’s my interpretation. Kind of like a ‘21 Apex Pro or i230.  But in no way clicky. Sound  was great. It was a unique combination of powerful but soft.

CB felt soft out of the middle and just a tad firmer out of the toe.

3DP has consistent feeling across the face.

KT also felt like it had a bit of face flex, but 3DP had better launch, speed, and spin with my toe miss. And softer.

I hope I am making sense and helping with some context.

I get what you’re saying given your reference to the ‘21 Apex Pro. I feel how its techy when I test it against my old TCB’s.

I’m very interested in the 3DP - can’t wait to hear more on this thread.

Totally hear you.. Just that my last set of irons the lofts and weights were all over the place. Did it affect my game? Probably not. My neurosis? Absolutely..

... I am intrigued by those that say these 3DP Tour have a soft feel. Softest feeling irons I have played, including many sets of MB's, are the Cobra MIM irons and I have played the King Tours since they were released and while not quite as soft as the MIM's, they are pretty close. I have added the T200's, and the new King Tecs to my bag and pretty quickly went back to the KT's because the hollow headed irons felt ... well ... hollow headed. These are just so very intriguing.

I'm going to go in on these. They look too good and pack in so many features that they would be hard to not at least try. The word revolutionary comes to mind if they are as good as I hope.

I went back and tried my T150’s again after 3 weeks on the limit3d. They felt terrible. It reinforced how good the cobra model is.

Did anyone ever really think 150s felt great? I found them hard/clicky feeling with multiple shafts.

They were fine if you middled them. The clicky part came from mishits. They were more forgiving than the T100s but nothing close to the Limit3d. The forgiveness on the Limit3d is better than the T200 utility which is a much thicker club.

More forgiving than 200s and a slimmer profile. Thats some serious magic 🪄 dust. Definitely need to try these
