2025 Sun Mountain Lineup (especially 2.5!!!)

The bag with the straps and no rain hood is 3.57 pounds. The aluminum legs are 1/2” but I don’t have a bag with carbon legs to see if they are the same size to see if someone would want to replace them. 

How were the new straps?

It's winter so I haven't carried the bag yet but that was my biggest issue with the old bags was the straps didn't seem to have any padding. These new ones seem to solve that and comfortable with the clubs in and adjusted how I typically like them.

SM ignores the simplistic requests.   I just don’t understand why there isn’t at least an option for dual straps on the new Hybrid Bag.   I would order this but that is a must have feature.   I don’t even care if it’s a few $$ more as long as it works.   I know many feel the same way after reading reviews.   They continue to ignore these simple improvements that people request.   It’s going to make me buy a Ghost/Vessel bag when I would rather but the SM.

If looking to pick up an older 2.5+ 14-Way, is the hip pad design of the 2023 that much better than the 2022 that its worth leaning toward that version even if you like the style less?

This thread and the clearance prices drove me to order a 2024 2.5+.  Had to get one again as they are such good all around bags and apparently Sun Mtn is taking them in a different direction.

Can you compare the 24 with the 23 bag? It is worth buying if I have a 22 and 23 already? I'm wondering if I should grab a 24 before they disappear. I don't really mind the weight increase in the Eclipse but I'm worried the legs won't stay up in the new model. From just handling it in the store it feels like any back pressure against the internal spine made the legs droop. I don't know if I just do golf bags wrong or something, but I get varying degrees of annoying leg droop with EVERY stand bag except the external mechanism of Sun Mountain bags. And now it seems like they're ditching that design and going internal bottom hinge like everyone else.

I think 22, 23, and 24 are all similar functionality wise.  23 was a dud in my opinion on looks with the weird placement of the SM logo and the the little graphic stripes on the sides.  24 is the better looking of the 3 overall imo.

Thanks. I thought the back pad was better with the 23 than 22. Some of the pocket design seemed worse. Mine is just plain black so I didn't mind the smaller, less noticeable SM logo down at the bottom. I appreciate the toned down logo with the new bags but I don't know what I do wrong with internal stand mechanisms but they just never seem to keep the legs up.

Happy with the 2024 at $133.  Best deal going for a quality ultralight bag.  Hope they go back to a similar design next year.

Local retailer didn't have and of the regular 2.5+s but had an E-2.5 - would never own or carry the "E" - too squared off for carts for me.  Still happy with the 2.5+ I bought a few years ago.

Dicks/GG is sold out of the navy colorways in both the 2.5 and 3.5. I guess I should’ve jumped on those sooner.

Ended up picking up a closeout 2023 Sun Mountain 2.5+ 14-Way. Really nice bag. Probably the most minimal 14-way bag out there - and no club tangle with the external stand/non-folding base. Debated the 4.5LS (liked the rangefinder pocket and cart strap pass through) but the reality is I carry very little in my golf bag so I didn't really need the space. Hopefully it ends up being durable. 

 

Really hope SM comes out with a similar small 14-way in the future.

Late to this party, but not discussed is the 4.5LS only in 14 way.  I have the 23 4.5LS 6 way..  What I like are the fact there are 3 pockets on the spine, not 2; and also the fact the drink pocket will hold something bigger than a 500ml bottle.  I have a YETI Rambler 32 ouncer, so I need a pocket that can hold it(looking at you MIzuno).  Having the 3 pockets works out well because I can put the rangefinder in the magnetic pocket; tees, scorecard holder and other sundry items in the main pocket, and I can put some kleenex, lip balm and granola bars in the small middle pocket.  Yes I can put stuff in one of the others, but,...I like the 3 pockets.   I carry 90% of my rounds, and guaranteed most people would say I'm carrying too heavy a bag, but it really isn't that bad once you get it on your shoulders.  But I do not want to carry a 14 way bag.  It adds unnecessary weight, and I have been there, done that, got the t-shirt.  The club rattle is worse in the 14 way when you carry than a regular 4-,5- or 6-way.

 

Thankfully my bag is holding up nicely so I still have a few seasons, but it is disappointing to see these changes.  I may be a market of one, hence, compromising is required, but when the bags were perfect, why are they moving away?

Anyone have a 3.5 eclipse 4 way with midsize grips? How is club tangle? Bag looks great except the kinda small looking middle row. I love that the dividers go alllll the way down.

Tried the 14 way with midsize grips and had zero issues.  I would imagine the 4 way would be easier?

I was very pleasantly surprised to find the SM e3.5 14 way did NOT rattle more than my Jones trouper R in my Cybercart.  I was very skeptical and very surprised.

I ended up ordering a E2.5 in green jacket colorway after seeing a black/white one in a pga superstore. While the 2.5 naming is confusing (since it's definitely very different than the ultralight 2.5+) what it clearly seems to be is a direct competitor to the Hoofer Lite.  Initial impression- it's a great bag and has some improvements vs. the Hoofer Lite.  The split bottom (like a flextech) should help with tangle and the dividers are full length all the way down (attached to the base).  Some would also view the magnetic pocket as an improvement, but I'm indifferent.  There is a single strap option that can be ordered from Sun Mountain in matching color, will probably do that.  One thing it doesn't have is a cart strap pass through, but I'm also indifferent on that, especially since pockets are designed to be accessible when on a cart.
