Groomsmen Gift Ideas

I'm getting married in October of this year, and I'm looking for ideas for my 2 groomsmen.  I'm thinking of getting them each something that is the same thing, and 1 thing that is unique to them.  I'm looking to spend around $100 for each of them.  Both enjoy playing golf, so I've thought about customized headcovers as an option.  I've also thought about a customized Leather Scorecard holder for one of them because he's a HS golf coach, like I am.  Any ideas that y'all have would be appreciated.

I stood up in my buddies wedding last July and he got us all Alligator Skin Cash Covers. I keep mine in my golf bag with some cash and a credit card just in case. Very nice gift. I believe his were Jacob Hill, but there are plenty of companies out there that make nice quality covers.

I think you're on the right track. My advice would be to make sure you get them something you know they will actually use, and not just something that you like. Meaning... when you go to purchase something, you should be thinking "John will definitely like this" and not "I really like this". 

 

Personally, I got each of my groomsmen a specific bottle of wine/liquor I knew they liked. I was one of the last of my friends to get married, and by that point I had thrown away enough groomsman gifts that I wanted to make sure I didn't make the same mistake 😁.

nice divot tools, ball markers, monogrammed golf towels. Parts of your bag that are otherwise overlooked, and that can be transferred from bag to bag.

A nice leather valuables puch with drawstrings that had a center divider to keep keys and wallet on one side with watch et al on other side.  This one has held up for 1000s of rounds over 3+ decades.  Don't have to dig into the velour/velvet lined valuable pocket on bag.  Just grab pouch.  I keep phone outside of pouch in valuables pocket for a perfect set up.

$100 for the single personal item? I'm a big fan of utility gifts. So I don't know about a yardage or scorecard cover. I have a nice winston leather scorecard cover, and I've only used it at Bandon Dunes due to being walking only and all the rain.

 

Shopping for golfers is tough. I can't decide what to buy myself, let alone purchasing for others. So just some random thoughts/suggestions:

• I'm a big fan of barrel style pouches for organizing the golf bag. Just so much easier finding and grabbing the items you need for the first tee.
• Going with the above theme - personalized leather barrel bag (weekend bag).
• Are they whiskey drinkers? Nice glassware and something I know I would use regularly.
• Personal golf art - do they have a favorite course or a pictured moment? Get a professional print and frame of that course or moment.
  • Went to Bandon a few years ago, and requested from this site to have all 5 courses to be printed at a certain orientation so I can frame them on my office wall to align with the coastline. She accommodated and results are fantastic.

I'm willing to go a little over for the both of them if it's the right gift, but $100 is the ballpark for each for a couple of gifts.  I've had a custom yardage/scorecard holder made on Etsy for around $50 from the seller Left Coast Original.  The quality is great and they have coupons for them quite often.  

 

I like the ideas above about the Jones bag and valuables holder as well.  One is a whisky drinker, so there are options out there I can do for him.  I'm going to avoid Yetis and cups like that.  We all have coached HS sports and have so many of those cups around our homes.  I've had to get rid of a few this past November when I moved in with my fiancé.  

 

We all graduated from the same college, so I've also thought of a really nice polo or pullover for them with our college logo as well as one of the gifts.

I got all my groomsmen Seamus driver covers in a pattern that would match the color scheme of their bags with their initials embossed (debossed?) on the top of the headcover and a caddie towel with their initials on it. I don't think it was less than $100/person when it was all said and done, but like others have mentioned, they at least use the gifts.

The hand forged putting cups from seamus are nice. i bet you can ask for a custom one. It'll be more then $100, but i think it's pretty novel. Can never get too good at putting :).

This idea actually worked out perfectly.  The Sonoma color is on sale and is one of our wedding colors.  It's also similar to our Alma Mater's color.  I got them each one, and now I can work on figuring out what to get them each that's unique to them. Thanks!

the shoe bag or valuables pouch are things I've received that I still use.  Nice ones that you use (but never want to actually buy for yourself) also remind you of the person that gave them to you.  Any reminder for a quick text/call to good friends is not a bad thing - especially if its caused by something you both enjoy.

The one I got is like grey tweed on the top and the bottom is a harder plastic...i use it to carry practice balls for short game practice, haven't used it as a cooler but I like knowing I have that as an option, lol.

I went to Callaway Preowned and got a couple of wedges in like new condition for around $90.  Then got a can of Citristrip, some Testors paint and a punch set.  I stripped the paint and repainted in their college team colors.  Then stamped initials and my favorite bible verse.  Depending on what the sales are like at CPO, you could come out under $100 each.

To mix formal with golf and around your budget of 100, Imperial belts are nice.  Holderness and Bourne or Smathers & Branson are just too expensive nad not worth espeically S&B.  They have some cool designs.  Run on the small side.

I was actually thinking about getting them each a Nexbelt for a gift.  Depending on the suit and color choice, I could get them each a belt for the wedding that they could use in the future.  I have 5 different belts from them, and they're now the only belts I wear.

Got personalized Bluegrass yardage books as tee gifts for my buddies as a tee gift on our first Scotland trip several years ago, it was a huge hit.

Received one of these as a tee gift at a tournament a few years ago. I didn't think I'd ever use it but I actually use it pretty regularly now. And that's my favorite kind of gift, something I'd never buy for myself but I love when someone gets for me.

If everybody drinks, a monogrammed copper hip flask is nice.  I once received a really nice set of mens grooming tools and that was by far the mose useful gift i have ever received.  the kit had eerything and it was japanese surgical steel
