WOW! The unranked (for now) Purdue Boilermakers win in PR by beating 4 of the top 10 teams led by Sam Easterbrook's 15 under week!

 

Would be remiss to not mention what a great job by Sapp as his first year head coach at Purdue.

Purdue is ranked 51st so they are no slouch. Clippd only lists top 50 on the leaderboards. This is none the less pretty impressive.

Thanks for sharing. It was fun seeing many of the top junior golfers that we know on the leaderboard. 

 

A few observations in no particular order.

Purdue - impressive, especially as they've had a rough winter thus far.

Ohio - weren't they one of the top golf performers last fall? Not a single player were below par?

Oklahoma - surprised prior top performer Van Gaalen wasn't in the line up. 

Georgia - surprised that former AJGA rockstar/Jr President's Cup Maloney was (I) and near the bottom.

Arni Sveinsson looks like a strong contender (vs. Daniel Bennett?) for the Phil Mickelson award.  Third top three performance of the year.

Cohen Trolio has been playing really well for Ole Miss.  Great transfer portal addition.

Jackson Herrington with a decent performance after a WD (injury?) at the Jones Cup.  He was excellent last summer so hopefully he's trending back into form.

 

Everybody's favorite former club player Paul Chang with an ace!

There are people who think his scores are not legit (when others aren't looking), but he certainly did well in the last 2 tournaments.

The biggest contributor to Purdue's outlying win has to be....take a bow Kent Hsiao at shooting -14.

 

I know of Kent from his junior days. This is by far the lowest he has ever gone. Him and his parents will be stoked.

 

Sam Easterbrook's -15 looks like a good day at the office, but he may have achieved similar feats in the past. Certainly looks like he has the pedigree to do this again.

Moloney didn't really play well the last year and a half of juniors. He had one short hot streak before that, so not really surprised. 
 

Oklahoma lineup is super deep. Maybe giving a shot to Cheek as an Indy in a tournament where there were a bunch of Indy spots, b/c I don't see him ahead of CVG.

 

Ohio STATE lost their top 2 players w/o depth to replace them.

doesn’t OK have to cut big for next year given they’re over 9?

Yes I they will be at 12 or 13 I think. 
Moldovan and Shipley graduated.

Not just their two studs. 4 of the 5 who played in the match play last year for Ohio State have graduated.  Only Tyler Sabo is back from last year.

(Jackson Chandler has turned pro, but is still 237 on WAGR...effectively altering the Power estimate of every current tournament down slightly)

Fake news  Clearly the coach didn’t fully believe until recently or CVG would have been playing the entire year!
