Well, I think it's happening! 

 

Maintenance crews were out yesterday and I got notice that the driving ranges open today and the courses tomorrow morning at 7am first come first serve for the first couple of days.  

 

Looks like I get to touch grass tomorrow!!!

I was able to get out to the driving range this morning.   I tried my hand at creating a fancy video for Wilson.  This is the first time I've ever used my DSLR for video.  I used C-Log and attempted to do editing and color grading with DaVinci Resolve.    Boy that is a whole can of worms!  

The end result wasn't quite what I had envisioned,  but hey,  it was my first time ever doing something like this.

I have a feeling that when pros edit these things they monkey with the playback speed quite a bit. You were moving at a normal human pace like anyone would. I bet an editor would slow certain parts down to set a different mood. Just a guess.

I debated adding a slow motion walk with an explosion.  🤣

 

I wish I would have rolled more footage, but I rushed to get some shots while the range was empty. I was just happy I hit the ball.  It was the only Wilson range ball in the bunch and that was my first swing of the day.

I finally got a round in the weekend before this Easter weekend.  Nothing had been mowed, the course was wet, the greens were shaggy.  They basically took the tarps off the greens, cut some cups, and the season was off.  Life has had me so busy I haven't had much time to recap or even reflect on it.  Haven't played since and not sure when the next round will be.  Hopefully this coming weekend. 

 

I am a big big fan of the Dynapwr LS.  It's not a reinvention of the wheel.  I can't sit here and say that I was blowing it by where I would typically be.  It's plenty long, it's reasonably forgiving, and it is consistent.  I played with the weight setup a little bit.  I forgot that the heavy weight was forward when I started the round.  After the 3rd hole I changed it back to heavy weight back.  But, by the back 9 I was ready to move that weight forward again.  With the weight back, I was losing it left.  With it forward, it was much more tame in that regard.  

 

I hit the 3w one time off the tee.  Setup left on a short par 4 and it did not cut like I wanted it to.  Pulled it a touch and it just held its line.  But... it carried the water I was aiming over and I was just left of the green.  Was a solid 290y 

 

I couldn't ask for anything more out of the irons.  They do exactly what you ask them to do.  No second guessing or concern that they'll be too hot or launch too high for the situation.  

 

The wedges though.  OMG the wedges feel so good.  Out at Cabot, the bounces I had weren't ideal for the tight and firm conditions.  Too much bounce.  Back home where things are much much softer and the rough is thicker, they were phenomenal.  The last forged wedges I had were the T22 Mizuno.  These feel better to me.  They setup beautifully.  Just a classic looking wedge.  A little more rounded than I have been used to.  And, it's taking a little bit of a mental adjustment getting used to the 60°, but so far performance and versatility have been top notch and as good as anything else I have tried.  

 

I do not get too deep into the grind options.  For those that do, I think if they can expand this line with some additional grind options, they'll really be able to make a splash.  Especially at the price point they're at.

That looked so good I’m jealous!  🤣  They put on a great trip for you guys but those reading this need to know it’s not just for show.  Read this thread or the Pinehurst thread and you’ll see that the sticks are the real deal and Wilson is reemerging as a major player in golf equipment.

It's warming up, but it's been rainy -  so I spent some time in the garage on my GC2. 

I've hit 178 ball speed with a Paradym TD last summer,  so getting close to 180 with the Dynapwr LS is just fantastic (especially this early in the season).   Looking forward to see where numbers are at in the summer!

Finally got my second round of the year in this weekend.  Still loving the driver, still loving the MB's and wedges, and finally got a chance to hit the 7w a couple of times.  Such a fun club.  I was living towards the toe a bit all day and wasn't finding anything to be snapping hard left.  

It was cold, windy, and just not great conditions again.  Balls weren't rolling out in the wet turf, nothing was carrying as far as you'd expect, and with the wind it was kind of a guessing game.  It was a grind but it was still nice to be out and swinging.  Getting used to the new setup.

I got all excited following this thread and ordered some Wilson Clubs. Guess what, they messed up my order and I've been waiting about a month for them to fix it and ship my clubs.  Called Wilson, but they said there was nothing they could do since I ordered the clubs from a golf shop. I trust the shop and don't think it was the shop's fault. Kinda frustrating to get excited about new clubs based on these great experiences and having trouble with a pretty simple order. Just a bummer.

What did you order and what got messed up?  Is the shop not willing to call in?  I am not trying to give them a pass here, but I don't think it's uncommon for OEMs to not deal with the end customer if one of their retail partners placed the order.  

 

In any event, I am sorry to hear that there's been delays and I hope it gets resolved asap.

Seems like either the golf shop or Wilson got the specs wrong. Should be a fixable issue. Wilson can only go with what was given to them from the shop or they messed it up. I hope you get an answer.....quickly

I don't want to make a big deal out of a minor disappointment. I have other clubs and so forth. Just a bit different than the VIP treatment. If I could figure out a way to delete the earlier post, I would.

No worries.   I would be pretty bummed too.  Hopefully the golf shop you ordered with can communicate with Wilson and get things sorted.

Yeah, whether the fault is with the shop or Wilson the shop should be on the line with Wilson and getting it straightened out asap.

I think the shop is doing what they can, and Wilson is probably trying also. Gonna chalk it up to unrealistic expectations on my part. I have the patience of a gnat.
