My 2025 Season Opening Bag !!!

Here we go all clubs are in for 2025

 

Im a recovering severe Club ho. Probably the worst in the history of Wrx but last 3-4 years I've been much better.

 

Woods:

Ping G440 Driver 4 wood and 20 Deg Hybrid

 

I played the 10k driver all last year.  I hated the looks / feel / sound but it performed BIG Time.  High and Straight.

Naturally I wanted to try the 440 after reading similar performance of 10k with better feel / sound

 

100% Accurate.  First time in 10 years I've hit over 300 yards.   I'm also in the best shape I've been in 10 years but still.  It's the clubs.  Always is.

 

I love the driver in early testing.  I don't hit a 3 wood enough (maybe 2x a round) To care or give it that much thought - Playing the same brand as driver with a 10g heavier shaft usually works for me so I did that.  Ping Hybrids are good but again I don't hit them enough to put muhc thought in it so I go with what matches.

Driver has Chrome Tour 65g Fairway 75g Hybrid 85g.

 

Irons:

 

Srixon ZXI7 DG Mid 115

 

I played my best golf ever with ZX7.   Last year did PXG 0311P.  they were long and straight but I couldn't spin them enough would run off back of greens and my draw turned into a block.

 

The New ZX7 Look Great.  Feel Great.  Are plenty Forgiving (Im only playing up to a 5 iron now as a former 3 / 4 iron player I don't have the SS anymore).

 

I 'almost' won my club C 3 years ago with the OG ZX7 and love the size.  They bring back fond memories on the course and can't go wrong with them.  I maybe swap for T150s back and forth they are also awesome.

 

 

Srixon ZXi Utility DG Mid 115

 

I'm going to replace the 4 iron with this club.  I don't want to admit I can't hit a 3 or 4 iron consistently enough to carry them.  I ordered this with same shaft as irons (DG Mid 115)

 

Early testing was meh but that was in Sim.  Ill give it a chance off a tee and rough when the season starts.

 

Wedges:

 

New Cleveland RTX 52 56 60 

 

Completely Stock all Mid Bounce.  Great wedges.  Cleveland or Vokey I can play either.  Mid (s Grind ish) is what I play.  Im not fancy with wedges usually square face and go.  

 

Putter:

 

Scotty 5.2

 

I always putt better with a Blade (Plumber neck) but need a bit of help.  Hopefully the Mallet body with the blade neck works.  Rolled a few already and felt great!

 

Bag

New Black Hoofer - can't go wrong with Hoofers - I like Titleist but Players 4 is too small and Players 5 is too big.  The Players 4+ was perfect but my legs broke and they don't make it anymore.

One clean setup there - sounds like a great reward for heading into the season in better shape!  Keeps us posted on how things go once the weather warms!

I went to a srixon/cleveland fitting today at the PGA Superstore and got a chance to hit the ZXi4 and ZXi5. I was blown away, these were by far the best feeling irons I've ever hit. So soft, but powerful at the same time, just an amazing feel. Don't really need new irons, but you know how we do on WRX, lol.

I’ve got a combo of 4 and 5.  They are both incredible feeling.

Interested to hear more about the ZXi Utility with the mid 115, after some on course reps. Recently put a DG x100 130g in my ZX U 23° but haven’t hit it yet. Loved the club with graphite so can’t imagine it’ll be bad.

I’ve got a ZX5/ZX7 MK II combo set and RTX 6 Zipcore wedges that will be tough to knock out of the bag, but the 2025 stuff is intriguing for sure!

I spent an hour in my Sim last night hitting each club.

I have to say I'm 100% committed to start the season with these clubs.

 

I love them all (the utility might not make the bag but the rest will!)

The 4 iron and utility are both a bit difficult to hit for me at this stage of my golf career.

 

I am sold on everything like I said except the spots between my 4 wood and 5 iron.  
I "Might" Fill these with GT2 Hybrids (Im a sucker for Titleist Hybrids) at 18 and 24 deg.

Solid bag I like the new ping colors this year on the woods very sleek. I would like to know how you like the iron shafts. I am thinking about putting them in my Mizuno MP53 irons.

dont touch those MP53s.  The MP53 3-PW Stock with S300 is the GOAT of irons sets.  Ill buy them if you want to sell them PM me

Finally had some solid outdoor testing....

 

Driver is legit - I played the 10k all last year.  This is very similar maybe sounds / feels a little better.

 

I hit the gt2 finally and it's a beast.  Longer than Ping.  But typical Ping it is much straighter.  Ill trade 12 yards for straight

 

I hit a few of the newer irons - New 790s all the new mizuno offerings......

I'm happy that the srixons beat everything out.  Maybe the Long irons are a bit much for my old age - I may look into adding. a 4 or 5 hybrid.

 

Cleveland wedges are always good.  No Need to discuss.

 

First outdoor round hopefully thursday.  Lets see !

How is the ZXi Utility doing? I have a ZX MKII Utility in the 4/23* version and love it. Wanted to also try a lower-loft version as a typical driving iron but the ZXi has me underwhelmed in terms of look... Something about it looks weird

I havent used it outdoors yet but indoor testing is negative.  It's the only club I'm not sure of.  

I don't find it that much more forgiving than my 4 iron to be honest.  Ill let you know after a few shots outside this weekend

swing is getting dialled in.

The ZXi7 are amazing.

Did a complete fitting tonight and the Srixon Spanked everything with the T150 and 243 Pro coming a distant 2nd and 3rd.

Hit a few other drivers Today but I must say I'm happy with all my clubs.

Minor change today Bought the ZXi7 Gap Wedge - 51 deg and a bit easier to hit than my 52.

 

Also hit a ton of Drivers today.  The best 3 for me were GT2 the Qi35 and Ping.  I think the TM is my favorite but I'm sick of buying clubs so Ill stick to what I have.

 

I also don't really like my Putter but well see.

20 round update

 

Still have clubs minus a few tweaks

 

I dropped the utility.  i hit the 4 iron fine.

 

I like the Woods don't love them.  I hit the Driver super high.  The fairway wood is good but again I should have went 3 wood as I hit this to the moon.  The Hybrid is great I love it.

 

Irons and Wedges are solid.  Not flashy.  Rock solid.  

 

I went back to my newport for the putter.

 

I'm playing like a** but it's not the bag !

Curious about this 'cause I'm doing the same thing. After four rounds with my new 5.5, I make more putts with my AI-one 1t, but after returning, I miss the extra weight on the putter head and stability. However, I'm making more two-putts and eliminating the three-putts with my 5.5

a few minor changes......

 

Replaced the 4 wood with a 17 deg hybrid.  I love the 20 deg hybrid so much.  Straight and feels great.  I hope the 17 will launch low bullets and help me off the tee on the short par 4s.   

 

Also picked up a new EvnRoll 2.2.  I loved my ER2 a few years back and tried the L neck 2.2.  Can't wait to play have 4 rounds in a row coming up tomorrow through sunday.

srixons still in bag and going strong.  Played a few rounds with PXG 0311P Gen 7 amazing irons but just don't spin enough tough to hold greens with the longer irons.  Also T150 which are simply amazing but the ZXi7 are just a tad more forgiving.

 

Putting with EvnRoll 2.2 right now and doing pretty good with it.

how do you find the 2 hybrid compared to a fairway wood?
