Sand Valley 2026 Reservations CLOSED

Anyone know what happens if they call and you aren’t able to answer? Surely I can’t be the only one with a job that doesn’t allow me to be on my phone at a moments whim.

Sandbox is always wide open in the morning though lol. Evenings and mid afternoon you can’t even book a time out there. 

I think most of the time you can get on pretty easy.  I made two trips to SV last year with a buddy in July and had no problem playing 36 holes.  Bandon is same thing and you are correct if you look online right now they will be fully booked but as you get about a month out things really start to open up because guys can get a refund.  Now if you talking a 4 some its a not gonna happen but I have been to SV the past 4 years in July and never had an issue playing 36 as long as I was flexible.  But times don't open up until about 3-4 weeks out and sometimes the week of.  I am not talking lodging...just golf only but I also have it nice because I am able to drive to SV although its a poke

@BG5 that hasn’t been my experience but I’ll keep an eye out. Last year I booked my tee times the same morning they were released to the public. As a single I was able to play sedge and mammoth. No afternoon tee times were available for Sand Valley that worked with a morning round. The previous year I booked towards the end of February and there was a bit more availability. Each year it’s gotten tougher. I think the resorts just more busy and popular as a whole. The change in reservation system seems to indicate that as well.  We will see how it shakes out. Plenty of other great places that I want to see still.

Make sure to have your phone off of Do Not Disturb mode. I had a meeting earlier in the day yesterday so put my cell phone in Do Not Disturb mode. Luckily saw the email in the morning right away and got got #41 in the queue, only to then have the call go directly to voicemail. I was #11 in the queue when they called, so be ready early. Didnt think they would call me back until they got through the queue. Was extremely upset to say the least. Got a call first thing this morning. Was able to book for 2 nights in the middle of the week in August for our group of 8. Almost all Friday/Saturday nights are booked from June-September. Still availability left during the weekdays.

something doesn’t make any sense in all of this. If they’ve only gotten through a 150-200 customers since yesterday, how are they almost entirely booked for weekends for 4 months

Large groups (16+) and corporate outings were able to book in advance before the general public.

Well, that's not encouraging but should come as no surprise I suppose.

 

Did they arrange tee times too or is this just for lodging?

Yes we were able to get tee times fairly easily to what I was hoping for. Was able to get a Lido time too. Sedge x2, Sand Valley x2, Mammoth, Lido, and Sandbox 1 round.  Lodging is the issue.

 Yikes! They have only gotten through 230 groups

Probably depends on how large your group is. If youre only needing 1-2 rooms, you probably still have a chance for multiple nights in the summer. Crazy to think 5 years ago, I was able to call about a month before going and get 2 rooms on a Sunday night, and now we got over 2500 people in a queue. They are also dealing with a new reservation system that many are just learning how to work this week, so it does take some time to actually book. I was on the phone with their rep for nearly 45 minutes.

At a glance, it seems like that this first come first serve system after email notification was not thought out as well as it should have.  Perhaps a lottery system like Bandon would have been fairer although there is no perfect system, I guess.

 

I have the right to change my opinion if I get exactly the reservation I am requesting.

Although our group of 16 has flexibility to stay on weekdays and we aren't looking to go during the prime season, I don't expect we'll get our preferred lodging. But at this point, I'm just hopeful to get our full group booked.

 

What's annoying is I called this past weekend for a group booking since we have 16; SV said they'd call back within 24 hours but never did then the queue got posted so now I'm in the queue and they won't respond to any emails about group bookings...

The queue is moving at a snails pace at this point. Can’t imagine how long it will take them to get through everybody.

Phone calls take a lot longer when people have to figure out their 4th/5th/6th choice options

It almost never feels busy when you’re on property but I understand that this demand for reservations is off putting.

I understand what he’s saying to a degree. I will still happily go if I’m able to actually book something, but the amount of time/stress seems crazy when you can book Pinehurst/kohler/Kiawah/Big Cedar/Streamsong fairly easily. I feel like it’s going to be tough to live up to the hype.

I think probably next year I'll just prioritize trying to go to one of the golf outings like broken tee or fried egg if I want to go back to SV.

I traded emails last week to book my group of 16. Said I would get a contract to sign this week. It came over yesterday and it had the wrong pricing, wrong number of nights lodging and missing tee times for a round we had confirmed was available. I get they are busy and mistakes happen, but seems like they are in a little over their head with the demand. Hopefully they are able to fix the mistakes, but I’m worried it probably has already been booked over at this point. 
 

As it relates to the demand. The fix is simple, charge the same or higher prices than the places mentioned above and demand will drop accordingly.

@birdiestobogeys similar boat, although fortunately the only thing off for us was no replay rounds booked for two days (I could have been more clear in my email, in hindsight). Got a call from Reservations this morning and we were able to get things squared away with a few minor things that aren't ideal, but otherwise what we had hoped for. For what it's worth, the girl I talked to was great and said right now there are only two people handling reservations, so think they're definitely over their head but doing their best.

2 people? That seems like extremely poor planning for an operation that size.
