Golfpad tags yes or no review

I purchased a refurbished set of tags from golfpad so you don't get the premium membership with it. Played 18 today with the tags and here is my take. I wear my phone on my belt so that part is convenient, and the yardage and mapping/ distances are nice to have and actually speed the game up, no looking for markers or pacing off. With that said the tag part is just distracting for me, although I tapped and got the dinge for each club It missed half a dozen shots. I found you need to put your puts in it also of course. With the free version all you get is individual club yardage per shot, no direction or dispersion. No stats on par 3,4 or 5's as far as breakdowns. My take on it is it's just not worth the attention needed vs what the fee version gives. I'll keep using the course maps and yardage charts but golf is hard enough to keep your head in it without worrying about the dang thing on the phone if it picked up a shot or not. If I'm playing good that day that means I probably had less distractions and this is just one of those for me. I'd be interested to hear from others on this.

I used Golf Pad for years with my phone in my left front pocket and Apple Watch. Had to remember where the RFID reader was before putting it in my pocket to make sure my tags were read. I found when I was consistent with that and took a practice swing it didn’t miss much. Like you I found it distracting, not so much with swings, but putting for some reason. I moved to a Shot Scope V3, like you for distractions, and that rascal was as good as it gets for me. I put it on and forgot about it. Might miss a putt or two. I recently moved on to a V5. For some reason it’s not quite as good at picking up shots. It misses a few but not 6.

As an avid GolfPad user, a huge part of the reason I use it is its ease of use with a watch and no tags. I can get it done super quick and it's also easy to adjust should I need to. Coming from Arcos originally, the tags drove me mad and I'll probably never use that system again.

When I got it, GolfPad was like $20 bucks a year and it was a no brainer to upgrade to premium.
