2025 Maxfli Tour/X/S Reviews

I think my driver swing is an outlier. I do have a fast swing speed 110plus. And I can hit a few 300plus yard drives every season. At yesterdays range session i was rolling drives out over the back of the range at 319 over the grassy bern. My normal ball is the callaway erc soft.  I have tried x versions of several balls but always seam to migrate towards a softer feeling ball. Recently bought 4 dozen of the kirland sig v 3, it's supposed to be a firmer ball with loads of green side spin. I do not like this ball at all.  It does spin nicely on approaches and checks up more then any other ball I played, but off the tee it feels dead, but the reason I really don't like this ball is when hitting with putter. It just sounds and feels bad.  I use a mizuno forged milled face putter and it just feels terrible.  Also the balls are just butt a** ugly.  I did test the kirkland balls with my old Odessy white hot #7 mallet putter with the soft white insert in face and with that putter the kirland felt better and was not as clicky.

I am not changing putters, love the heavy mizuno m craft omoi #2 putter. It's a one piece forged piece  of soft 1024 steel with an agressively millled face.  I have it configured with the supplied  two 13gr weights. It's the heaviest putter i have every used, but i get instant and distinct feedback, sound and feel when I putt. A nice amooth centered stroke just feels perfect. I can immediately feel toe or heel strikes.  Ok enough putter worship, back to balls

So after failed kirland fiasco and instead  of going back to erc soft, i broke out a box of 4 dozen 2023 maxfli tour s balls i bought last summer for $119.  I have played a few rounds with these balls and they are my new gamer. I know i should probabale be playing  the regular tour or the x, but i just love the feel of the tour s. It doesn't spin as much as kirkland on wedges or approaches, but more then the erc soft.  I like the way the ball looks and feels. Getting a good  low to mid trajectory with driver, can flight ball the way I want with irons and the putting just feels butter. This ball reminds me allot of the titliest avx. I love the avx but I am not paying titliest prices. I just ordered another 4 dozen of the 2025 tour s and looking forward to see how it compares to 2023 version.

I think I have played 3-4 rounds with tour s so far and I  have had to discard a few balls with pretty bad nicks and scratches on cover.  Cannot blame the ball to much as I am know to hit trees, cart paths and whatever the hell else is available to hit on course.

Overall I would say these maxfli balls are a very good ball at a very good price.  They are not cheapest, but a 3 piece urethane ball that rates high on mgs ball labs and feels soft and long is perfect for me.

I am going to stick with this ball for a while and see how I play it.

I was able to play 9 with the ‘25 Tour X last night. I’m going to need some more play with it, but it seems like it could be a great option for me. I like everything about the ‘25 Z star XV but I prefer a firmer ball around the green, especially putting. First off, the Tour X is LONG, I had quite a few irons, especially wedges, that went farther than I was expecting. I’m going to have to adjust distances a little bit to dial that in. The greens were punched recently so It’s certainly not the best time to judge them, but absolutely no issue checking these things up. I hit a punchy 58* (elevated green and i was hitting from a hill at about the same elevation) and thought for sure it was too much, but it 1 hopped and ripped to a stop. I was really impressed by this. Not a great ball striking day so I dont think I’m quite ready to talk about trajectory yet, but it’s definitely going to get a full 18 of testing this weekend. I’ve also played some with TP5X and Chrome Tour TD, both long and feel great off the putter, but I don’t think they were spinning enough for me. I’m a pretty fast swing speed but pretty low on the spin spectrum overall and I had some short iron flyers with both of them.

Welp....actually went Maxfli Tour X

Softer than prov1x or vice pro plus ....

Higher launch and spin than TP5 and slightly longer on good for good strikes...

Can't get over the unique feel...... not clicky , not overly firm but enough crispness to notice a difference from vice pro or tp5......

Even though I wanted a soft feel with spin and launch , I'll take the feel of the Maxfli tour X ......

I have 4 dozen 2023 maxfli tour s and 2025 tour s.i played the 2025 version the other day and not sure why but I prefer the 2023 version.  At least off tee and long irons , around green and putting g where so similar i could not discern difference. It may have been just a bad ball striking day.  I will play either ball and see if I notice any long term differences.

Going to range today to practice chipping and pitches.

Have played a few rounds with the Tour X and think it’s going to be in the bag for a while. I really like the firm feel off the putter and around the greens, I find it to be as long as anything else I have tested, good trajectory for me and plenty of spin. I have tested TP5x (not enough spin), Chrome Tour TD (Love, but prefer more green side spin), Z Star XV (does everything great but i prefer firmer feel around the greens) and think MTX is a great middle ground. I am a yellow ball player and I did find that the yellow gets pretty scuffed up, but I can deal with that, as long as it’s still playable.

I’m reasonably fast swing speed but a pretty low spin player. I have new irons that should be delivered within the next 2 weeks hopefully so this could change again.

Have you played the older version of the Tour X in the past? I had bought some boxes last year and couldn't get through a whole box because it had felt like a rock. I currently play the Vice Pro Plus and have no issue with the feel, but you're saying the 25's are softer than these so I'm wondering if they lowered the compression. Looking at the web both year models are labelled as 100 compression.

I have played pro plus for years, including the current gen, Tour X definitely feels firmer than the pro plus in my opinion. And i dont think its really that close

No Sir , I have not played previous generations of the current Maxfli balls .....Maxfli HT Balata was last Maxfli.

So I had a sleeve of 23 prov1x and a few pro plus in my bag along with the aforementioned softer balls; vice pro,  tp5, tp5x and 24 bxs

Eliminated bxs , fell into short and spinny category.....TP5X was very firm and lacked spin for me.....

Prov1x was comparable but firmer and I knew that....

Vice pro and tp5 both feel slightly better ; tp5 flew slightly lower to my eye but also affected by wind more .

Pro plus was VERY good but if I'm getting same performance,  same price and easier access then that's a win!

Vice Pro flies lower on pitches and doesn't stop as well but good enough.

Remember,  this is all for my game and speed(paltry) YMMV but truly enjoyed Tour X and will probably grab a 4 dz pack or two 😀

Enjoying reading the reviews. I’ve been a MT fan for years. Hated the alignment line on the ‘21’s so much I stopped playing them but been playing the ‘23 MT since day one. Wanted to like the MTX but just didn’t quite work for me. Very very interested in the new MTX, seems like this version may be a good fit. The only thing that worries me is previous 4 piece Maxfli have suffered from some manufacturing inconsistencies but if they have that taken care of, oh boy!

I played he Tour X 23 and liked it pretty well but once the greens firmed up this spring it wasn't spinning enough around the greens.  I switched to the 25 Tour and it is a magic ball.  It is just as long as the X for me, feels better, and spins way more around the greens.  Bet ball on the market.  I would play the 25 Tour over a Prov1 if they were the same price.

It's truly ironic that you probably swing 30mph faster yet you find MTX firmer feel than vice pro plus.....

Do you think that both are tiny bit softer than prov1x?

I wonder if cover is softer but internal construction is firmer with MTX or VPP?

Has anyone tried the max alignment version of the Tour/X yet? I have not seen them in person but looks a little obnoxious maybe?

I went from the Chrome Tour Triple Trac to the 2023 version of the Max Align with the arrows.  I don't have any of the 2025 version max align, but I know I will prefer the 25 version of the alignment aid.  There is something about the 23 arrows version that is an optical illusion and makes you perceive that the alignment arrows aren't exactly printed in alignment on the ball.  It is the minutest amount.  Nevertheless, I am still equally successful with the arrows as a triple trac.  I just like the TT better.

I ended up grabbing two boxes to give them a run. I dont really hate the alignment but I dont love it either. If it were up to me Id gone a little more lowkey like the Prov1 options but they do call them MAX alignment, so I guess thats why

I guess this is a perfect example of why these threads are so active and we can all waste so much time here each day, haha.

You could be right about that with swing speed, i dont know enough about how the layers interact to have a good answer. I like PV1x but do not find it significantly firmer than the Maxfli tour X, i do think it feels firmer than pro plus. I should also say that I really only feel the difference in firmness chipping and putting, longer irons/driver these all feel pretty similar i think, I dont recall noticing a huge difference but not something i really pay a lot of attention to. I will hit some on my launch monitor this afternoon to see if I notice a difference in the feel, i have some previous gen Pro v1 x, i really dont think so on longer irons/woods though.

Yeah, I truly thinking 30mph or so is gonna present much differently in the feel/feedback department.....

Just got off the course for my 2nd round with MTX and for my speed/game launches higher , spins more and carries a bit further whilst stopping quicker .....also my pitches climb up the face more ; but still feel control and spin.

Like I said, very unique ball with the mix of firmness,  spin but not oft putting on either and to me,  GREAT feel that's firm without being rock like but definitely far away from a marshmallow feel which I thought I'd love...... now I've found THAT ball giving me launch, spin without that prov1x/TP5X/molitor sound/feel.....lol

2025 vs 2023 MTX update:

I've been using the yellow version ball quite a bit recently.  I think the best way to describe the changes between the two balls is to say the 2025 has become more of a distance ball. By that I mean  it is longer off the longer clubs and sacrifices a little bit of spin around the greens. It still has good control when chipping and pitching, but the 2023 had remarkable spin around the greens - as well as distance.

Overall the durability of the 2023 is better. There are instances of using the 2025 when it is brand new where after a few shots it has marks on it. Some of the marks will clean off but not all of them. I don't know if this is just bad spots in the finish but I used to play multiple rounds with 2023 ball, and although there was of course wear, it never developed bad spots like this.  This is not a major problem but it is an annoyance. Hopefully it is just a manufacturing problem in this batch of balls.

I think I would be okay making the switch to the 2025 without complaints. Although I'm thinking of trying the 2025 tour to see if that is a better fit as technically the 2025 MTX is not targeted for a player of my profile.

At 66 I no longer hit the ball as hard as I used to though I'm still a low single digit handicap. However the 2023 MTX was overall longer off the tee than the other 2023 MT versions I tried so I played it. It made me feel younger again! And with the 2025 version even longer I now feel even more young!  Woo hoo!

It is still a higher spinning ball than the MT though right? Been playing MT and thinking I want to go to the higher spinning MTX.

For those that played the 2023 and 2025:

Is there that much of a difference or would you still buy the 2023 if they are $10 - $20 cheaper for 4 dozen?

I haven't played the 2025 yet because I had a dozen of the 2021 I'm playing through and 5 dozen the 2023.  Is there that big a difference, beside the missing dot, between the two generations?

I heard all the hype on the 2023 Tour and supposedly the 2025 version is just as good, no real change in the design.......i just played both versions........not for me.....

its worth the money, but the ball didnt really do what i was expecting......had too much roll out on approach shots and was not real explosive off the tee......easily 10 yards less than the chrome tour and left dot for me

Had been playing the ‘23 Tour. Tried the new Tour X after seeing the Tour compression increase to 95 on the ‘25 version.

I Found it felt fine and solid off the tee. A tad firm off the irons and right on line. Sadly, at least half a club short there for me off irons, especially short irons. Spin more than I prefer closer to the green.

Felt real nice off the putter.

I’ll play what I have, but then back to the ‘23 Tours until they’re gone. Then I’ll try the ‘25 Tour. If not a match, may end up back at BRX.

Started playing with 2025 Tour X this week, played 2023 all last year.

In my first sleeve of 2025, all 3 covers started scuffing and ripping. A bunker shot could be to blame for the first, but the others I don't have a reason. 2023 could last 18+ (if I could keep it that long) without issue. Will see if this is just a one sleeve/box issue, or something larger. I hope they are an outlier because I am a big fan of the 2025 Max Align change.

Feeling and playing I have not noticed any major differences between 2023/2025. 2025 may be a bit firmer, but minimally so.

I started this season playing a 2023 4 dozen box of the maxfli tour s I bought at end of last season.  I just tried the 2025 tour s for a couple rounds.  Not sure exactly why but I like the 2023 version better. Distance wise I dont see a difference, spin not really any different, I think for me it's the look and feel. Not sure how to explain it, I just always go to the 2023 version.

I do not think these balls are as long as a few others I have played consistently

Callaway erc soft was my ball last season and it's defintely a little longer off tee and with irons. It's been two seasons since I played Callaway chrome soft but it also seamed longer. Not enough to justify price.  And to be honest a few yard more off tee is least of my concern. I really don't need more distance i need more feel, like feeling a few more bucks in my pocket.

Maxfli is a 3 piece urethane ball that rates very high on mgs.

4 dozen for $109 2023  and $119 for 2025.

I plan to keep playing them. Will buy another 4 dozen of 2023 version before they go away.  I like to stick to same ball for as long as possible. I tinker enough with clubs, changing the ball is another variable i would rather not introduce to this experiment.
