oh interesting, but the same tech in terms of face milling, etc?

I suspect that a reduction in price over something like the MG4 would mean they are of slightly lesser quality, but i’m not sure. Just think they’d have to skimp somewhere to make them cheaper. Finishing? Durability? All speculation.

Someone else here probably knows for sure.

Finally got my 48 RTZ tour rack to go with my 60. Still waiting on the 54.

Both are incredible so far. The 60 out of the sand is the best I’ve played and I play the 48 for low pitching 50-100 when there is green to work with. Unbelievable spin and control.

48 replaced my 50 SM10 to improve gapping and it’s just as good or better in that 50-100 pitching range which the SM10 was a deadly club for me.

The custom stamping from Dunlop is a little dodgy but the finish and ferrules are a nice touch.

Getting back into golfing after a 15 year hiatus which started with college and went through grad school where I only played three rounds in 15 years after playing 100 days a year in my youth and competing in local tournaments and varsity high school golf. All of these wedges are thus new. All of my old wedges were of the black finish and completely rusted from improper water containment in garage of my parents house and were rendered unusable. They were a combination of Cleveland CG10's and a 52 deg CG15 DSG Copper.  But I love these new wedges. I'm 5 foot 10 and had the 50 deg shortened by 0.5 inch and the 54 and 60 shortened by 1.0 inch. I have found that this has done wonders for my chipping control on my new wedges. The reason why I have a Callaway Lob wedge instead of sticking with the SM10's is because the height an exaggerated toe gives me a better visual for when I hit open face green side shots which I do a lot. I was always small growing up so I practiced my short game religiously and with the 60° wedge I can pull off some pretty sweet, high trajectory, soft landing chips and my muscle memory starting to come back and given that my old lob wedge had 12° of bounce this is substantially easier to hit mini flops, especially when considering tight lies like the fairway or the artificial grass you see above. Im lucky to have skilled enough hands to make the 60 deg lob wedge indispensable to my short game. The reason that I have a nickel 50° and a black 54° is to have visual imagery that I am hitting a certain club for a certain shot which I find helps me on the psychological side. It feels like every wedge has a specific purpose, and the different finishes are kind of a little visual reminder of what the capabilities of each wedge are it's the first time I've done this, but I really love it so far. You cannot go wrong with SM10's or Callaway Opus, they are fantastic wedges and I could easily have a 60° SM10 and probably be just as happy but the first adult club I ever gotten in my life was a Callaway 60° forged black Lodge wedge so I always have a special place in my heart for Callaway 60° wedges. Hopefully this isn't rambling too much, but I wanted to share my wedge system.

I believe a retail Vokey and even a raw Vokey ordered directly from the Vokey site, are so FAR different on what is played on tour. My SM8 56 degree Raw was in the bag for 3 years and has no real rusting from all that exposure. You see a tour WITB and they are so heavily rusted. I have been a Titleist loyalist for years, bought into the Vokey hype, but just could never love any Vokey 56 degree I owned over the last 25 years. I figured w/ my new S-3s, I can get rid of my Vokey 50 degree, purchased the Mizuno T1, as it will flow nicely with the irons. Still waiting on delivery as I went custom with the KBS Tour Lite S, to match my S-3s, since my 50 degree is used for pretty much full shots only. Waiting on the 60 degree Betti as shipping supposedly starts today. The 56 degree PXG, SDIII, I put in the bag, in October, is phenomenal. Not huge on the graphics, but feel and performance blows my previous Vokey away.

If you want that raw Vokey to rust up quickly, mix up some plain old salt water.

Dunk the wedge in it, then wrap it in a cotton cloth that you also dunked in the salt water. Lean it against the wall for a few days before unwrapping. Salt water will rust any exposed metal that is rustable.

Bought a 52 and 60 Maltby TSW to go along with my 56. To my surprise I'm using the 52 around the green a lot more than I expected, it has mainly been an full wedge swing/approach club in the past and has a PX 6.0 in it instead of DG. The 60 has become my main bunker club, playing with mainly square face out of compact/minimal sand.

Im sure the SM10 are fine wedges, as most Vokey's are, but i just can't get used to the black badge stripe on the back. I like my wedges to look really "clean" cosmetically, and think of wedges with that type of cosmetic accent as cheaper or inferior in some way. Jmho

I have done some demoing lately.  I had Vokeys with the great grinds, but they feel harsh to me.  Was looking at the S159s and they are nice, clean looking, feel.  Then hit the RTZ and it is very nice in all aspects.  The S159 and RTZ are very similar to me.  I think the RTZ does feel a little better.  Lastly, on a whim, I suddenly thought to try the Mizzy T3.  OMG, what a wedge!  The feel is incredible, nice looks, unbelievable spin and great through the turf.  It is like the entire face is the sweet spot.  Amazing.  Went to the top of my list.  If I had the money, I would get the T3 and RTZ.

Upgraded my lob wedge today, from my old SM5 K-grind to a shiny new SM10 M-grind. I really needed something lower bounce. I have been struggling a bit on tight lies, and all the bunkers I’ve played on lately have been really packed and firm. I think this will help a lot. Also added a wedge back in for tighter full swing gaps.

Now I’m running with:

46F SM10

50F SM5

54D SM10

58M SM10

Just one old SM5 hanging on, lol. It’s been in and out of the bag so much that it’s still pretty clean.

I ended up with some RTZ’s in mid bounce across the board. I like the feel but seem to be lacking some distance control from the MG4’s I had before. Recently upgraded irons to Mizuno 245/243 combo set and am interested in switching to the T-1 or T-3 wedges now to match. Anyone have experience with one or the other? I like the T-3 but concerned it might be too bulky.

I switched to the T-1s this year and love them (coming from MG4s). I really like the smaller profile and they feel like butter. Now the MG4s feel very clunky to me, don’t see myself ever going back

As long as you’re comfortable with the smaller profile, I’m sure you’re really enjoy them

It's possible that the shaft change is a bigger factor than the head, when it comes to distance control on fuller swings. I guess your MG4's had the DG 115's in them, and the RTZ's have the spinners? I have never felt comfortable with longer pitches using the DG spinner shafts.

You are correct. The MG4’s did have the DG 115’s and these are the spinners. I used to be able to make 90-100 yard shots onto the green easily with the MG4’s and now I come up short every time.
