Need help…Mevo Plus vs MLM2 Pro - which to buy after recent changes?

Recommended Posts

Is the Mevo plus worth the extra money?

I am looking to buy a PLM and need some more recent input to help me make a decision.  All head to heads I have seen are pre-December 2024 when Rapsodo switched the one year trial for the 45-day trial.  The MLM2 Pro with the lifetime membership comes out to $1200.   I can get the Mevo Plus for $1750 new after discount codes.  I am wondering if the advanced metrics (and supposedly better sim) on the Mevo Plus are enough to mitigate the cost difference.  Some info:

This will be almost exclusively outdoors.  I also have a net to hit into, or the option of hitting into a large field.  Space is not an issue.  I don't have enough room in my garage for a sim setup so any sim setup would be outdoors into a net with a  screen setup (already have the screen for showing outdoor movies and I have a 10 X 7 net and a 8X8 net).  Maybe some day I will do an indoor setup (I do not swing well indoors).

I am a bit of an equipment geek but on a  bit of a budget (my options are between the two mentioned units).  Initially, the MLM2 Pro seemed like an obvious choice, but the loss of one year included means the unit will basically be $1200 within 45 days with the lifetime mebership.  The Mevo plus is already all-inclusive.  With recent software changes, which offers more parameters?  What metrics are directly measured vs calculated now?  Whose sim is better  (graphics, courses, etc)?  I know the Mevo Plus is PC compatible  (bug plus for me but not a deal breaker).   RPT balls vs aluminum dots or RCT balls? Which unit is more accurate, especially outdoors?  Does Flightscope still offer software updates/upgrades on the Plus?  The price difference (1750 vs 1200) is not a big deal if the data metrics, etc are better or more robust.  I want to get the unit that will get me the most meaningful info (as close to a professional unit as possible, but not at the expense of needlessly paying more.

Some say the Mevo Plus compares favorably to multi-thousand dollar units--is this accurate?  Some say the same about MLM2 Pro.  Some say the app is miles better (and more professional) in the Mevo Plus.  The MLm2 Pro app has been compared to more of a "fun" option geared to consumers. But these opinions are all pre-December 2024 with the elimination of the one-year trial and (apparent) software upgrades.

Seriously, any hello would be appreciated.  I know a lot of this can be searched but I can't seem to find any useful head to head comparisons that are very recent (from what I understand, MLM2 Pro  has enhanced the sim options).  I know breakingeighty recommends the Mevo Plus.  I respect that channel but don't know how much (if any) Ogle is influenced by Flightscope (he basically has options for every launch monitor--he also seems to be the only one that  says the Mevo Plus is unquestionably the best at the price point ).

For ball data MLM2 with the RPT balls is hard to beat. M+ has more on offer and should be the equal to the MLM with ball data depending on set up. Do you have a level area btw the ball and the PLM? Sounds like you could have 12-13 of ball flight before the net. Each of those should point you towards M+. Unlimited flight definitely M+.

Could upgrade to pro package at some point. That is where the data really separates.

I have relatively flat land in some areas around my house with pretty much unlimited flight in nearby fields.  I would also use it at a nearby range on occasion.

MEVO Plus is only strong, if the ball travels more than the minimum of 8feet. The MEVO plus is only strong inside with RCT Balls. I did use the MEVO plus about 2 Winter Season and the RCT ball Upgrade after a winter of training with silver dot sticker balls improved the accuracy significant. The ball data on Spin rate at the first season was a guess on more than 60% of all shots. The MEVO plus tells you if the spin rate was calcullated or measured.

the Range modus of MEVO plus is nice the data fields can be changed to preferences and you can review your Sessions.

How is the mevo plus for speed training?  Does it give you immediate swing speed without a ball? Or will  Ineed to check numbers later?

There is a specific speed training mode at the Software. Yes, instand displaying the speed numbers

Does it need to be perfectly flat and level?  It is relatively flat where I hit (not landscaped so it isn’t perfectly flat) but it’s not awful either.  I did build a small wooden leveling platform with adjustable legs for whatever unit I choose (originally built it for an R10 I had—sold the R10 without using it).

If there was an easy set up fix they would have done it already. Incorporating the self leveling, distance detection to the ball that the X3C has would blow up the price point they want to hit.

I don't think it's a cost issue. It's rather differentiating it from the X3C.

And by the way, how much more can it be to use USB-C ages ago instead of still micro-USB?

Not sure what else Flightscope could do to help with setup at this price point. Self leveling makes it so much easier but that requires built in hydraulics to raise and lower like full swing kit - which sells at $5k.

Was surprised FS didn’t switch over to USB-C already. Idk why.

Mevo+ owner here.

I would buy the Mevo+ over and over again, if compared to the MLM.

FS gives you 10 free courses on e6 for life. You can unlock all of the software to include all club data. There are no subscriptions.

What is cool about the MLM is you can use any ball as long as you dot it up with a sharpie, which you can do with Mevo+ but you need actual reflective dots.

I use the RCT balls and get accurate readings (within 2%) of my buddies GC3.

I started off with the MLM2 Pro, gave the Mevo a week or two and then went back to the MLM2 Pro for a few reasons.

  • MLM2 Battery Life is better
  • Ability to connect your device and MLM2 to the same network
  • App is more fun / has more options

I did have the pro and impact package which were both great but ultimately, the MLM2Pro was just better for my needs.

I’m in the same dilemma.

Mevo plus vs MLM2PRO

for the MLM2PRO users -  can anyone confirm that after a shot the distance is given audibly?  I’m getting conflicting info!

I want to use it at the range and with my old Mevo I could listen to music with my AirPods on the range and after each shot it would tell me the distance.   Which was ideal.   I want to do the same setup with the MLM2PRO if possible.
