Vintage Bag

Found this turd at the habitat store for $5 and it was 1/2 off.  I love it.  Giving it a spa day and I am going to use it.  Made in USA Titleist.  Metal rivets and hardware is really fun to me.  Wish that I knew the age.

Great score!

I picked up one like this as well as a burgundy bag, both Titleist, last year for $15+/-  each at Habitat in my area.  
I cleaned them up and use the hell out off  them. They look fantastic with vintage clubs and get lots of compliments and comments. Keep ‘em cleaned and conditioned and they will last a loooong time.

That looks nice! Was over my parents house today and grabbed my old bag, it was my dads when he first got his clubs in the late 80’s, then I stole it when I started playing HS golf way back since it was so light. A bit beet up but that’s ok. 
 

He also told me to take his blonde zings, said they’d look better on display with the old danser putter I got than in the basement so double score.

Going to stuff a bunch of towels in the pockets to stretch them back out and into shape.  Cannot tell if it is real leather, or not.  It is taking conditioner quite well.  All of the zippers are perfect.

I had picked up some Mink Oil from a local shoe repair shop/leather repair and it works wonders on old golf bags, shoes, as well as revitalizing golf grips.

I don't know anything about it.  I just found it at the Habitat store, cleaned it up and know that it has no tears or rips, everything works and it is pretty light for what it is.

 

I wish that I knew the age/era.  People are going to ask me.

Ask them what they think - if you have any of the Kaplan catalogs, look in them for a description of their bags...I'm guessing that bags with brand names (like Wilson, MacGregor, etc) could have been made by one company or a few.

oh, just a guess but perhaps '60s or '70s era

I believe it’s early 80’s or late 70’s. It’s definitely not leather- these are vinyl.

The white areas of that bag are in desperate need of some warm water,  soap, as well as a magic eraser. It should clean up the white nicely.

^This. Lotsa dead Naugas used in them bags. I have a few for storing some vintage sets. Stuff the pockets with towels and a light touch with a hair dryer on low will help smooth it out.

That bag is awesome. Actually, they all are. Thanks for sharing it. I picked one up at the thrift store that is nearly identical. Love that bag. Fits perfectly in my BagBoy push cart and looks great with vintage clubs. They are vinyl and clean up pretty easily with soap and water. I'll definitely use mine at every future outing or league night.

Picked this up for the whopping total of 4 dollars the other day. I just need to find a strip of red vinyl to replace the band around the lip where it is fraying, and determine how to remove what can only be described as "goo" which may have been someone's licorice snack in the Clinton administration from the pocket. 

 

(And buy an appropriate umbrella for the umbrella holder)
