GolfWRX has five (5) of our most trusted forum members testing out TPT Golf's Nitro Range and Power Range shafts. Each member is testing out their choice (or fit) of driver, fairway wood, and hybrid shafts. TPT Golf offers the only spine-free golf shaft in the world and each of our members will be putting their line of shafts through the ultimate test. Please feel free to ask any questions that you might have, as the testers will be happy to answer them!

The testers are:

About the TPT Nitro Range Shafts

The Nitro Range stands out for his outstanding torque-to-weight ratio. TPT focused on refining the shaft geometry and fiber placement. Nitro is the result of a methodical development process that optimized Final Element Analysis to its limit and uses the same automated process as the Power Range. Featuring low torque and a light design, Nitro delivers greater distance and tighter dispersion. Power Range is available for Drivers, Fairway Woods, and Hybrids.

About the TPT Power Range Shafts

The Power Range shaft delivers stable and consistent performance for virtually any swing type, maximizing carry with high launch and low spin.  Its unique manufacturing process ensures a balanced shaft for optimal control. Take the first step into TPT technology for high stability and precision. Nitro Range is available for only Drivers.

FINALLY!!!! Super excited for some pure GolfWRX feedback on these! Looked at a lot of reviews when I applied and laughed at how minimal the reviews were. Looking forward to yalls feedback especially my fellow World Long Drive competitor @CROCN and my fellow Washingtonian @Fourpar18! Congrats everyone!

First off, thank you to @GolfWRX_Official and @TPT_GOLF for the incredible opportunity to test these shafts out. Unfortunately, the timing of delivery was a bit challenging for me, when these were delivered I was battling the flu and had been couped up in my house on day 3 of it. The arrival of the shafts was definitely a bright spot!  I received the email with shipping information and tracking (Monday 3/10) it said the clubs would be here 3/13 from Europe. It gave me a good chuckle thinking, no shot, since they were originating in Europe and I’m in Kentucky. But they arrived with an on time delivery!

Had to go out of town this week for work so haven't been able to test them out yet... the anticipation is killing me! In the meantime, I'd thought I would give a little background about me. I’ve been an avid golfer my whole life, growing up my dad used to take me up to the local muni as a toddler and sit me on the side of the green with a pink lemonade so he could chip and putt. Played competitive golf growing up and will still do a USGA qualifier if it's close enough these days. Being a dad with two young boys means golf has taken a back seat but hopefully my sons will grow to love it as much as I do, and we can all play together someday (soon!). My current handicap is a 3.4 (the career arch here: pre wife = scratch. married = ~1. first child = ~2. 2nd child = well here we are) and I haven’t really played much since late October of 2024. We had a horrible winter this year in Kentucky and never had a chance to get out. I would say historically speaking, driving the ball was always a strength of mine. I’m on a bit of a journey to get the driver situation under control. Most modern drivers sit too open to my eye and they’re very shallow (to me). I long to have a deep face driver return to where you can work a baby draw again. The best driving occurred with a Mizuno MP600 9.5* with a Grafalloy Epic shaft. That thing was automatic for me. Ever since then I’ve had the Srixon Z745 (great from an accuracy standpoint) Taylormade M3 440 head (had some really sneaky long drives with this club) Taylormade SIM2 (I don’t know what I was thinking buying this driver. I tried multiple shafts. This was never meant to be. Arguably my least favorite driver ever.) Callaway Paradym Triple Diamond (It's been okay, struggled with a big right miss… I hate that miss) The current setup in the bag is a Titleist GT3 9* with a Project X Hzrdus Black Gen 4 6.5 70 gram 45” a Ping G425 LST 3 wood 14.5* head tuned up a degree and flat with a Denali Blue 6.5 70 gram 43” and my hybrid is a Ping G430 19* tuned up to 21.5* with a Graphite Design AD-DI 105x Hybrid playing at 40”.

Transparently, I must’ve done the online fitting tool on TPT’s website no less than 20 times when I was picked for this giveaway to verify I was ordering the correct shafts for my game. Yes, I do drink water first thing in the morning lol. My results on their website were for 16Hi every time so that’s what I went with. Here are the 3 shafts I ended up with; for Driver- Nitro 16Hi with a 45” playing length, same as my current 3 Wood- Power 16Hi 42.75” playing length and Hybrid 16Hi 40.25” based off their recommended playing length on the website. So, I took a quarter inch off the 3 wood from my current gamer and added a quarter inch to the playing length on my hybrid.

First looks, on the website it maybe accentuates the “Driver 17/Lo” graphics a bit for the Nitro Range. In real life those graphics are much more muted, maybe in direct sunlight that will show differently. I like yellow graphics and weave patterns on all the shafts, they all have a bit of a carbon fiber look to them. The Power Range really pops, the red and yellow combo is fire! These are very good looking shafts.

Decided to pop all the shafts into the club heads to give them a waggle. The handle is very responsive compared to what I feel in my current driver and hybrid. Super excited to get these out on the trackman to start seeing the data. Until then, thank you again to GolfWRX and TPT for this opportunity! Will be reporting more hopefully very soon!

I've heard nothing but good things about the TPT shafts.   The idea of having a bit more flex while retaining torsional stability sounds like a perfect combo.   Really excited to see how these compare to the gamer shafts of the testers!

First I would like to thank @GolfWRX_Official and @TPT_GOLF for this fantastic opportunity!  First, I want to start with their customer service, there were some issues with ordering and the customer service staff was fast and was able to resolve the issue within 48 hours.  With that said, my first impression of their customer service is its tops in the business especially when they are so far away.  If you're like me good customer service and first impressions always win me over every time.  I was finally able to order and I placed my order for the following:

Driver Shaft:  Nitro 17 HI at 45.5 playing length.

Fairway Wood Shaft:  Power 17 HI at 43 playing length.

Hybrid Shaft: Power 17 HI at 40.25 playing length.

A little about myself and my game: Many of you probably know me on here as I love the Classifieds, tour, and Pre-Release forums. I love trading, reviewing, and trying new equipment!  I have probably tried, tested, and traded every driver and iron set over the past 7-10 years and   I am not joking when I say this either, you can ask around or look at my feedback 😂.  I am currently swinging between 102-107 MPHs (Smooth tempo) at 48 years old with 13 back procedures and one left and two right shoulder surgeries.  I don't say this to gloat but say this because I don't have the prettiest swing but it works for me and functions for a 5.0 handicap.  So, when I post videos I know my swing doesn't look like Tiger Woods or even Max Honma but It works and if I can get my putter working this year I'll get back to scratch.  Honestly, it's not just my putter, I struggle off the tee box sometimes too!  That's why I was super excited to apply for this and to get selected I was even more excited.  I reached out to Vincent D. to clarify my specs and what the online fitting tool fits me for because I want these to work as the reviews and technology are something that can take my game to the next level and I have some BIG DREAMS since I just retired from 30-years of active duty military service.

At the time of application, I was gaming a Taylormade Qi10 LS and moving into a Qi35 Core model.  Well, the Qi35 had a blowout in the rear and I have officially moved on from Taylormade drivers!  I went back to my last gamer, Callaway Ai Smoke TD Max set at 8 degrees of loft and it was the last driver I felt comfortable with.  My 3-wood is the Taylormade Qi10 Tour set at 14.25 degrees of loft.  I love this thing, it's a flat-out bomber and I can use it off the tee or the deck.  Next, I will be testing the TPT hybrid shaft in my Taylormade Stealth 2 Hybrid set at 17.5 degrees of loft.  As you can see I have a pattern, I like setting my head a little open and I like hitting certain numbers with my clubs.  When I got my fitting (when I fit as well) they started from the driver and worked their way down to the lob wedge to ensure that my numbers were meeting certain spots in my bag and gappings were all on point.

I gathered several shafts to test against the TPT driver shaft and I am still working on a few for the fairway and hybrid as I want to put these to a good test!  I gathered several OEM shafts and some expensive upgrades as well, I have also locked on three different simulators to test (Trackman, GC2, Full Swing) and gather data to post and share.  This testing has come at a great time as I am on "retirement leave" and I plan on playing golf at least five days a week all over the Pacific Northwest.  I am playing a lot of Club Tournaments, and Veterans Golf Association (VGA), and planning on trying to play a few Mid-Amateurs.

FedEx tracking is indicating a delivery date of tomorrow...more to come and I cannot wait!

Can't wait to get started! I am super excited to be part of this testing group. Looks like I'm here to represent the average golfer. Currently at an 11.6 handicap, and certainly not entering any long-drive competitions with my 95-100mph swing speed.😆 I'm an engineer, data-focused and analytical (a nerd), and hopefully I can help some people understand what TPT shafts might do for their real-world game.

Nice. A tester with stats pretty close to mine. What's your swing like? Hoping something like mine.

I have an aggressive transition & fight a negative AoA & early release.

Glad to represent the common man, haha. Sorry, but we have basically opposite swings 😬

I have a smooth swing and transition. I tend to hit up on driver quite a bit, actually too much. Historically, my main miss has been a failure to get to the lead site and hanging back too much, then spinning out and slicing the ball. Classic self-taught amateur miss. I've taken some lessons and done a lot of video work on my swing to get better sequencing, and it's been (slowly) working. In my last few Trackman sessions I'm averaging 1-2 degrees in-to-out and about 5 degrees positive attack angle, at 97mph. That's on a simulator where I'm grooving proper mechanics; in the real world, I am still playing a slight fade.

I still have the old muscle memory to fire my upper body too early and try to kill the ball, and that creeps into the swing from time to time. Even with better sequencing, I tend to grip too tightly and don't release the club super well. So really my current, primary miss is simply leaving the clubface open and hitting a push that doesn't curve much.

The main benefit I'm looking for with the TPT demo is to improve dispersion/consistency. My best driving days are the ones where I can consistently find the sweet spot on the club, even if my path is getting wonky. Theoretically, the spineless construction should really help with this. A little extra speed wouldn't hurt either!

My shafts just cleared customs out of Poland and they're in Germany at the moment, according to Fedex. Not that I'm checking several times a day or anything.

We have an excellent testing group for this one. Congratulations to the testers. I am looking forward to following this one closely. There are some heavy hitters who will quickly vet out the old durability stigma.

Nice morning here in Pa but still in the low 40's when we tee'd off. Much warmer as the round progressed.

I don't spend much time on the range typically but got to my club early to get a feel for things.  No surprise from the TPT Nitro 14LO in driver for me. I mentioned I checked in with Jon Sinclair a while back to see what shaft would be closest to the proto 14 he fit me into years ago. He basically said my shaft was the the Nitro 14 before it had a name.  So I expected this to be a good fit and it was. I missed that feel more than I knew. I played with the settings a bit but ended up where I thought I would. Comparing the Ventus Black and GD VF both 7x and tipped 1".... neither feel boardy but I have very different reaction to each. With the VB, I felt stuck at times and I felt like I had to work late to get square, which lead to a two way miss at times. With the VF, my hands feel more active than I'd want, more movement in the handle. This lead to me holding off at times and then trying to save the shot late.  The TPT is that just right feel for me. Maybe it's because I played with a similar shaft for so long. It's really hard to explain but there's a kick in all of them, in order I'd say the Ventus kicks least, VF most, and the TPT just right....more subtle to me.  It's a very solid, slightly heavier feeling shaft, without a lot of movement but fun to swing. I always know a shaft is good for me when I can go as hard as I want or take a little off and have that same feel and not have to manipulate it. I'm really excited to play more with this set up. I had a few bad swings with it early but got going as it warmed up. 5 of 8 fw's with it, all but one in good shape.  I was able to hit it both ways but had a harder time turning it left than normal.

Unlike the driver, I had no idea what to expect from the fw and hybrid shafts. I can verify going from the driver shaft (in the same # hi/lo range) to each is seamless. Same exact feel. Same great performance. It was a very comfortable experience. I used the 5 wood 5 times, 3 off the tee. All good. I tend to hit this club well but can tug it. I hit small cuts with it all day. That's a good thing for me.

The hybrid was the most surprising for me. I've struggled with that spot ( 225-30 yard shot) in the bag for years. My hybrid is 25 turned down to about 23.75.  I have tendency to pull it and when I'm swinging well it's still a draw. I was getting a small cut all day with it. I hit it 2x's on one par 5 and was left with a 12' eagle putt. Didn't hit a single bad ball with it all day. That was big for me with that club.

Good start!

I use Iomic mids on all of my clubs and was waiting to test everything out before making the change so I can get the logo where I want it. I think that will help some.

I think it's hard to describe the TPT's well, they're unique. I mentioned I thought they feel somewhat heavier to me but they're lighter. My driver is lighter than both of my other shafts by 4 and 8g's. It's not slow, at all...but has a more solid feel overall. I've tried going lighter in the past with bad results.

I can tell where other shafts kick during my swing. I really can't as much with the TPT. It's more subtle and comfortable. Smooth.

It's not tipped but feels more stable than the other two that are... to me. It feels more like the VF in terms of ease without feeling soft in the grip. So more stable but nicer to swing.

The thing that always impressed me with the VB was how consistent my ball strike was.  The VF wasn't as good for me in that regard. The TPT is very similar to the VB for me.

Some of this doesn't make much sense but it's what I've experienced in the past and did again today.

Apologies, I'm not trying to overwhelm the thread with my every thought but it's just a different animal than anything else I've tried and I've tested pretty much everything there is.

A big shout out and thank you to @GolfWRX_Official and @TPT_GOLF for the opportunity to test these shafts out and give a side of testing that is not normally given from the perspective of a long drive competitor. I started to laugh a little when I saw the table posted and my numbers were thought to be ball speeds instead of clubhead speeds. I competed in early March in the Dallas Tour Stop for ULD and my top ball speeds with the Kinetixx Hypersonic D10 shaft and a Callaway Paradym LD head set at 2.5 degrees reached 210mph on a couple straight pulls to the left, but the ones that stayed on the grid were between 199-205mph ball speed with cold temps in the low 50's and a 15-20 mph crosswind. I have played golf my whole life; junior golfer, HS, a few Monday qualifiers for the Houston Open in my 20's, but turned down an opportunity to play in college due to a full ride baseball scholarship so I have a baseball background. I have coached golf for a local HS in TX and my son who played college golf. I am currently 50 years old, but I have stayed in great shape due to competing in WLD and ULD. I will give some more details later, but I have not received my order from TPT as of yet. I was hoping that they would come in time to test out the TPT Nitro shafts for the WLD competition this week in Mesquite, Nevada. I will be competing this Friday in the Open division Local qualifiers since WLD doesn't have a Senior Tour Stop this week. Hopefully, when I return home next week the shipment will be sitting on the porch! I hope to give those with a higher swing speed 125+ good test results with on-course and launch monitor data in the near future. Good luck and Great success in Mesquite! Was always one of my favorite stops on the tour!! I will competing again in a few months so maybe I will see you at one of the events. I had to take a couple years off due to injury but my speed it back. I laughed when I saw the chart too, It was coincidental that I was on the course when I saw this right after I had drove the green on a 365 yard hole. My 75 year old dad and I were playing with two random gentlemen and one of them said “HOLY SH** What’s your clubhead speed” and my dad said to them “his clubhead speed is my ball speed”

Good evening my brother and sisters!

The shafts arrived yesterday and were packaged and protected like no other company I have seen before! The shipping box came with an order number on it and the shafts were protected very well!

This morning was a bit too chilly to hit the course but I was able to get on one of the three simulators I have access to.  This simulator is at my local club and it is the one that I use most of the time we play our league on.  It's a Full Swing Launch monitor and I am not 100% convinced that it's all that accurate as I see it vary in distance and spin sometimes versus the others I play on.  Testing ball and my current gamer: Taylormade TP5X

IMG_9208.jpeg.c7e88b1d4442be3d9bd9251e13149c61.jpeg

This morning my warm-up session was pretty good I felt like I was hitting it pretty well and down the center line and the monitor seemed to be working fine when looking at the numbers.  One update to my last post, the Qi35 Core 9.0 is back in the bag as I was able to get another head and I am glad that I didn't have to switch adaptors and wait to test.   Today, I tested all three shafts against the three shafts that I currently game and that I have felt comfortable with over the past few months.

Now, I was very skeptical when I did the online fitting because I have always played stiff to extra stiff shafts, and according to the TPT online fitting I fit into a 17 which is equal to R+ (I believe) in the driver, fairway, and hybrid.  Coming off two right shoulder surgeries over the past two years I am slowly getting my speed back but I believe I am topping off and don't think I will be getting faster anytime soon.

On to what you want to read about...

Hybrid

I was NEVER a good hybrid player as I tended to hook them most of the time.  This hybrid has been by far the best one that I have played and has been the longest club in my bag.

FEELING

TPT Shaft felt amazing!  Smooth and explosive and based on the numbers it was all around better!

WINNER:  TPT Shaft in all categories!

FAIRWAY

This fairway has been one of my favorites for many reasons but lately, it's been on the "naughty list" for the past few weeks!  I don't know why but it hasn't been good!  Maybe the honeymoon is/was over but it's been an issue, been topping it or pulling it lately.  However, once I get it...it goes!

DRIVER:

Driver is one of the strongest parts of my game, I am a pretty consistent ball striker and I like to say I keep it in play a lot of the time.  After all of my ailments and surgeries, my swing isn't 100% and isn't pretty but it works and works for me. I tend to tinker with a lot of shafts and flexes so I will have multiple shafts to try the TPT against.

FEELING

TPT Shaft felt amazing!  Smooth and explosive and based on the numbers it was all around better!

WINNER:  TPT Shaft in feelings and explosiveness! However, the numbers are too close to call at this point.  I will have to call it on another day or maybe on another simulator.  The weather is supposed to be a lot better next week so I hope to get them on the course to give them a real go!

Well, that's enough for tonight!  Hit me up with any questions or concerns or what you would like to see!

Excellent data, well done. TPT looks better out of the gate, especially with the hybrid and fairway. I hope the weather warms up so we can see if this translates to the course.

Excellent numbers and grouping for someone that had multiple surgeries! First few rounds I had after my injuries ,my dispersion looked like lights on a Christmas tree. I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks their swing is ugly but works!

Nice! Impressive improvement on the fairway and hybrid. Pretty incredible to have such significant jumps in clubhead speed while also improving dispersion.

My shafts are still with FedEx and hopefully arriving later today. Unfortunately I’m heading out of town for Spring Break with the family and won’t be able to test until late next week. I got in a simulator round yesterday to keep my swing as fresh as possible!

I understand there is more to it, but it seems like some of the secret sauce is in the softer/active tip section of these shafts.

The one thing that I can say about all three shafts is the smoothness of them all!  It doesn’t matter how hard I swing or the miss hit they all felt the same.

I think initially my favorite out the gate was the hybrid shaft.  Not because of the numbers but it felt so good off the face and I didn’t feel like I was going to hook it at all!

Got out to play this morning in 20-30mph winds with a real feel in the low 30's. Tomorrow's round should be nicer.

The TPT hybrid continues to shine. I've had this club in the bag for a long stretch. I've never seen this flight with it consistently. I need to adjust my line for a small cut, which is hard to wrap my head around. Same story with the fw TPT/5 wood combo. I felt like I toe'd pulled one on 7 that ended up fairly straight.  It's early but these looks like a solid upgrade.

My cold hands and body didn't like what I was asking them to do with driver on the front but I warmed up on the back and got in a pretty good groove.  I was able to tee it down a few times and hit low wind cheaters, with good results. Something I don't do often enough... or very well. I had a 20mph+ side wind on one hole that held it's line very well.

When it warms up and I have less layers on, I'll bring the monitor out to get some numbers vs the other shafts.  I hate hitting balls inside.

The wind is brutal around here today; good for you for getting out.

What is this anti-left hybrid you are both speaking of 🦄? Sounds like a winner. This type of feedback so far will pique a lot of interest around WRX!

Good luck! Legion is a great course when it’s super nice out. Excited to hear the on course report but it’s gonna be a soggy one on Sunday 1-3” of rain all day
