Your 4X is definitely rebar compared to this TPT Nitro 21Hi. 20+ Grams lighter and 50ish CPM lower, but the torque values 5.7 for the Kinetixx Velocity and 4.5 for the TPT Nitro 21Hi big difference. Hopefully they will work for you to help gain consistency and speed!

I was competing when we all used rebar haha so it’s really all I got left outside of a few House of Forged Shafts! I have hit a couple of my WLD buddies ultra whippy setups and noticed the ballistic ball speed increases so I’m definitely intrigued!

My back is reasonably healed up, so I got out for another range session today. Tried to take it somewhat easy to not re-aggravate anything. Somehow, had better results than my last few sessions. More distance, and straighter ball flight.

I think the key is the TPT feel. I absolutely love the feel of all three TPT shafts. I'm at the point now where I don't even bother bringing my old gamers to swap in/out. I'm just fully committed to playing the TPT's all the time.

It's such a smooth loading/unloading sensation. I am getting more and more familiar with the feeling; it's almost like a swing trainer. Feeling the flex has become a mental trigger for me in transition, and it's helping with my overall tempo. Get to the top, pause and load my left leg, and once I feel the head "bottom out" then it's time to fire the downswing. I am swinging slowly and smoothly, and I'm finding more distance with an easier swing. I know I said before that the shafts reward a hard turn through the ball, but maybe that's not the right "feel" for me. I get too disconnected.

I guess you could achieve a similar feeling by just going down in flex to Regular or Senior, but my experience in the past has been that overly whippy shafts end up wrecking my driver dispersion.

In this play test, I am finding center contact on all three clubs more than ever. I have seriously never been this consistent with driver contact in my life.

Agreed @QuigleyDU - this has been a fun thread to read / catch-up on.  Seems like these are the real deal, and would love to (eventually) try one of these out!

I played in our season opener this past Saturday. Man, the GT3 with this shaft is just unreal. The real feel was 44 degrees when we teed off so a bit of a struggle for me to stay loose but holy smokes this thing goes. Really pleased with it. I’m still working on the hybrid but I’m not sure the 3 wood shaft has a place in the bag at this time.

I took off this morning and played a round with all three TPT's in the bag. Shot a personal best 79, and accuracy off the tee was a really big reason why!

I'm not really hitting the ball any further than usual. I think my mid 90's swing speed is what it is, at this point. But in the last few rounds, I have pretty much completely eliminated big misses off the tee. Two rounds in a row without a single lost ball; this is uncharted territory for my game. 😆 While I technically only hit 46% fairways today, my misses were all very playable and usually just barely off the fairway. I only had one miss where I needed to punch out of the trees, on a relatively narrow par 4. And even then, I was far enough down the hole that my punch-out shot left me with an easy, short pitch.

When the pressure was on, at the end of the round when I found myself on "79 watch," I hit an absolutely perfect tee shot on the par 5 17th with my 4W, about 225 yards dead straight. It's a hard dogleg-right hole and I left myself 210 to the green with a 2-club headwind. 4W again and I missed the green right. But this was a monster swing for me, almost pin-high in a safe bail-out area. Made the up-and-down from ~40 yards.

The 345yd 18th hole has trouble down the entire left side and plenty of room to bail out on the right, but there's a water carry for the first ~200 yards that always messes with my head. I piped my driver dead straight middle of the fairway, leaving myself about 100 yards to go. I hit my gap wedge to about 20 feet and of course I three-putted to finish, but can't exactly blame the driver shaft for that!

The only issue I'm having at this point is the hybrid shaft seems to have dropped the spin rate on my 3H a little too much. I hit it very cleanly and consistently, but I can't hold a green anymore. I choked-up on 3H on a 197yd par 3 today, landed dead center green and couldn't hold it. It rolled all the way off. Luckily, I was able to chip it back close. At this point the 3H is overlapping with my 4W too much. If I can't hold a green with it, then it's basically just a fairway finder that goes about 210 yards. I've got it turned all the way up in loft, but I think I really need to switch to a 4H head. I do have an open slot in my bag, so maybe I'll bump the TPT to a 4H or even a 5H. Then I could add a 7W like all the cool kids these days.

Recent Range Session w/Nitro 21Hi:

After my normal warmup and stretching, I hit 25 drives with TaylorMade 3 stripe range balls that were in average condition. I would call this a long-drive training session. Winds were 15-20 mph coming across the range and temperatures down here in Texas in the mid 80's. Scoped out a landing zone 50 yards wide on the far end of the two way driving range. Front of the landing zone measured 325 yards and the back of the range measured 365 yards. Hit 21 out of 25 drives within the 50 yard width zone. Balls hit center were landing between 345-355 yards rolling out to the back of the range. Hit 3 low on the face but they still stayed within the 50 yard width. Only had 2 drives that sliced right out of the grid. The other 2 were straight pulls to the left of the grid.

Amazing accuracy for a shaft that measures 195 CPM and 40 grams!

I expected tons of drives to be rope hooks left due to the extreme flexibility of the shaft. The opposite is true! The more you load this shaft, the more it performs.

I was so impressed with the results that I am going to game this setup on my next round.

On-Course Results:

The course: The Golf Club at TAMU par 71 Black tees or tips.

Tee Time: 10:50 am

Weather: winds 10-20 mph and temps 78-85.

Ball Used: Vice Pro Plus

Overall, I hit 8-13 fairways which I used the TPT Nitro 21Hi.

Only lost one drive to the right on the 2nd hole. The rest were just off the fairway definitely playable.

I have used my other long-drive setup (Kinetixx Hypersonic D10 shaft w/ Paradym LD 4.5 degree head) many times on this course in similar conditions. I was able to hit my all-time longest drives for this course on holes 3,4,14,and 17. Screenshot_20250419-154514.png.68b5ca3f899e26323c5c381ce9843e6a.pngHole 3- 43 yards out

Drove over the green on Hole 4 and had 77 yards coming back from a bunker in another fairway

Hole 14- 368 yard drive just in front of the green.

Hole 17- longest drive of the day aided by a good tailwind ended up in the greenside bunker on a 465 yard par 4.

Hole 18- against the wind ended up with a 38 yard shot remaining.

Thanks @TPT_GOLF for the Nitro line of driver shafts. Nothing I have ever hit even compares to the results I am getting with this shaft. I can't wait to try the TPT Nitro 21Hi in some upcoming LD competitions!

@DTorres may need to invest in one of these for LD!

Great review, may steal some of the formatting as I like the way you included the score card.

I'm starting to get numbers on driver with the VB 7x vs the TPT Nitro 14 HI in small bites on the course. I'm playing with my normal group of friends, who are very accommodating but I need to keep moving. I'll get averages on both soon.

Today I was just looking for similar strikes to see what they both look like on the course. These were my two best and most similar drives today with each.

VB 7X tipped 1"

Club head speed 116

Launch angle 12.3

Ball speed 173

Smash 1.48

Spin 2545

Nitro 14 HI

Club head speed 117

Launch angle 11.95

Ball speed 175

Smash 1.49

Spin 2320

Both driver shafts are incredibly good. The fact that I'm getting slightly better results with the TPT vs the highest regarded shaft says a lot.  The TPT is a little nicer to swing and the feel is just different than anything else.

More to come on the 5 wood and hybrid soon but I'm doing this on the course and wanted to focus on driver first. I'm not a sim fan and really only care how they perform on the course.

If I were going to suggest someone try a TPT shaft blind, I'd probably go with the hybrid at this point. But only because I hear so many complaints of hooking hybrids. My 14hi has taken that shot out completely.

Played another round today in a knockout match somehow survived with an awful putting performance. The nitro is really good. My match went to 19 holes and had arguably the best drive of the day there. Cannot recommend the Nitro enough.

For the first time in a while, I went out and just played yesterday. I've been flipping heads and shafts in and out so often I forgot what it was to just play and enjoy the day. Bonus... I got to play with one of my best friends for the first time since I got the new shafts. He's been in Arizona hiding from the cold. Hearing his comments was extremely helpful. I trust him more than myself at times. We played a ton of golf together when I had the TPT proto in the bag for years.

He confirmed a lot of what I've been seeing.  He mentioned how comfortable I look again. How stable the shaft looks during the swing. The penetrating ball flight. Less side to side movement. It was good to hear what I've been seeing validated from the person who knows my game best. I can be hard on myself and look for the negatives rather than focusing on the positives.

With the warmer weather and dry conditions I'm seeing some decent gains I hadn't seen the past few months. I also hit 178 ball speed for the first time since last year with range balls before the round. All three shafts performed extremely well all day.

I miss AZ today - raining here in PA! Ugh...

But had an awesome round yesterday with Scott and witnessed the TPT Unicorn again.

That was worth coming back for... and the shared laughs for 18 holes.

Seriously, it is the best shaft I have ever seen him use - and I have seen ALOT.

Always said the TPT was the best I have ever seen for him.

The ball flight on the driver was straight with little to no movement—kind of nuts, based on what I have seen in the past with his other shaft tests. This TPT is the real deal. When he puts a "big boy" swing on it, it delivers and stays 100% on line... a very determined-boring thru everything line that even the wind gusts didn't touch yesterday. 🤯

Then I saw the fairway wood and hybrid shots... and it was as if he dropped the mic after each and walked off the tee or fairway.

TPT now has my full attention... AGAIN. 😁

Booked a fitting for this Tuesday LOL... my wife will kill me or kill Scott. LOL

At least this time, the rabbit hole is much shorter since I know what I want to test.

Can't wait.

Look forward to reading more reviews on TPT.

Congrats Scott - you found your unicorn shaft.

Please reread this post when you get itchy or bored and want to try another brand shaft... DON'T! LOL

Update on the TPT Nitro 21Hi from the ULD Central Texas long-drive event this past Saturday in Dallas.

Screenshot_20250506-111215.png.1f25634487a0b9b7e4b07a3c05232511.png

First event using the new TPT Nitro 21Hi shaft in competition, I was able to hit a new season high personal distance mark in ULD with a drive of 382 yards with a ball speed of 205mph! Great results to take home the wins in both the 50+ and OM Pro divisions.

The shaft provided the extra kick needed while not having to come out of my shoes. I was consistently reaching ball speeds over 200+ maxing out at 206mph. The 382 yard drive ties the longest drive of the 2025 season within the Central Texas League of ULD. Not bad for a fifty year old!

I've been testing the Ping G440 LST vs my QI35. The QI has been very good for me but the LST is a better fit. So I've sent my driver shaft to Will P to get the adapter swapped. The last few rounds were with my VB and it's been good but I can't wait for the TPT to get back to me. I'm missing that added control and feel more than I imagined I would.

I've been hitting my 5 wood off the tee more. Nothing new to report. It's just a great fit for my swing. The hybrid is an auto pilot. I'm looking forward to getting the driver shaft back and start focusing on scoring vs testing. HC is heading in the right direction. I'm ready to roll. These shafts give me so much more confidence.

I’ve got a couple more rounds under my belt. I went three straight rounds without a single lost ball!

It’s a good feeling when you look at your scoring history, and your last 5 scores are all included in your handicap calculation. Last three scores are my lowest differentials ever.

I really credit the TPT Nitro driver shaft with the big improvement that I’m seeing in driving accuracy.

Yesterday I had a simulator session to get some updated numbers and really, I don’t think my driver numbers could get any better for my swing speed. I'm still hovering in the 95-98mph range for clubhead speed, and dispersion was not great because I've been working on some swing changes. But launch numbers are just about optimized for my speed. Since my last session, launch angle is up and spin is down. I'm now averaging over 275 total distance, which is just outrageously good for me.

image.png.3344312957e073be9ad603893b533171.png

I hit 4 wood at the end of my session and I was definitely getting tired and slowing down. Distances are not great, and I was pushing everything a bit. I know on the course I hit it about 225 pretty consistently, and play about a 10 yard fade. Even getting tired, look at that dispersion circle! I have never hit 5 shots that consistently in my life.

BIG thanks to Will P for getting this back in my hands so quickly. The G440LST is great match for me with the Nitro. When I feel that pull coming, it's somehow straight but good swings are producing a tight cut.  This combo will not go left. The LST is more fade biased vs the QI35, which is a very good thing for me.

I had a chance to test the VB 7x Velocore+ for a round while waiting for the TPT to get back to me. It was my first time trying it. I liked it a lot. More than my OG or the TR. I think it's the closest comparison to the TPT Nitro 14. Feel wise especially.  Dispersion with the TPT is better. Everything else is comparable.

Super impressive that you picked up a little more speed AND the spin dropped a touch vs the VB.   That seems to be where the TPT shafts shine,  getting more feel without the usual issues of increased launch and spin.

Pretty wild that this thread is only on page 4.

It is crazy, especially considering (where i'm located) there is nowhere to even demo or test these. Figured more people would like to learn about them. The Nitro has been spectacular. The power range is really good too just not accustomed to how soft the handle is in the hybrid.

I think the biggest difference I'm seeing is I square up the TPT better. My timing is improved. I don't often get that trying to save the shot last second feeling.

I've done a lot of work on the LM and on good strikes the numbers are very similar. But I have the occasional face open or closed more often with the Ventus. I see less of that... consistently with the TPT for whatever reason.

When I tested the OG Black vs my Proto years ago, ball speeds were better with the Ventus. It's the opposite this time around with the Nitro.

I agree with you that Ping's G440 LST is great for those of us who struggle with a left miss being a little more fade bias compared to previous models. The TPT Nitro just gives you that extra confidence to just swing away. I will add that the Ping G440 LST 3 Wood is one of the best 3 Woods that I have hit in some time. I believe it will take over a spot in my bag over my previous Titleist 3 Wood that has been in my bag for 10+ years.

Not part of the testing but recently made the switch to TPT 17lo in my GT3 driver and the improvement in dispersion has been nothing short of amazing. Also picked up around 7-8 yards. Another thing I noticed was the consistency in strike point on the club face. Other shafts I tended to bounce around a bit. With the TPT, I tend to hit it in the same spot Everytime.

Came from the Ventus Black that I would occasionally block and send way off course. That seems to be totally gone with the TPT.

I liked it so much I decided to pair the new GT280 mini driver with the 17hi fairway shaft. Can't wait to get it out and test some numbers.

I liked it so much I decided to pair the new GT280 mini driver with the 17hi fairway shaft. Can't wait to get it out and test some numbers.

My experience with strike point has been the same. I normally use ALL of the driver face, but I have been remarkably consistent since the switch to TPT. I shot an ugly 93 on Sunday, but it had nothing to do with my long game. It was all wedges and putter (40 putts!). In my defense, the course had the most tricked-out greens I’ve ever played. It was absurd. It was the first truly ugly round I’ve had so far this year.

I did manage to hit the drive of my life on a short 300yd par 4, driving it to the fringe. Of course, I needed to sink a 12-footer just to save par!

I really can’t say enough good things about these shafts. My handicap is down by more than 2 since the start of the playtest.

We went from a pretty severe drought to buckets of water here in Pa the past few months. Getting old playing in these conditions.

I spent the first part of testing the driver shaft with the QI35 heads and had very solid results but since moving to the Ping g440 LST ( 7 rounds now ) this set up has been lights out for me. I could get a few lefts with QI's. Not hooks usually but unwanted draws when playing for a cut. Since the swap, I can't remember not getting the intended path I'm setting up for.  Lazy swings can get me in trouble right but this is what I'm looking for. Only one miss to worry about.

I was originally fit online into the 14lo but decided to go with the hi after talking with TPT. In hindsight, I think the lo may have been fine.  I am hitting it a bit higher than normal, with a head at 7.5, which has been great in these conditions. But I'm anxious to see what happens when it dries out and we get some roll out. I wouldn't be scared off the lo, if you fit into that.

I'm fully bonded with the fw and hybrid shafts...it's such a clean transition from D to fw to hybrid. It really does make a comfort difference for me.

Another interesting week with the TPT shafts. I have been doing some video work to try and improve my overall swing (and swing speed). It's clear that I don't shift weight enough. My backswing is too slow and then I accelerate too early at the top, making it really tough to properly shift my weight forward.  So, I've been doing a lot of tempo work at the range over the past 2 weeks. Trying to speed up my backswing and develop more of a pause at the top.

The result so far was one of the best range sessions I've ever had on Friday. I had one of those days where everything just clicks into place. The jump in distance was pretty incredible! I was hitting with pretty bad range balls, but putting my 4W past the 250 marker and drives carrying beyond the back of the range at 275. I don't know what came over me. Normal for me would be ~220 with 4W and 250 with driver.

The coolest thing was the TPT shafts all felt pretty much exactly the same as before, despite my swing speed bumping up significantly. They were every bit as stable and predictable, even with a pretty drastic difference in speed and delivery. At this point, it's up to me to put a good swing on the ball. I'm confident that the TPT's will deliver the club exactly as I'm swinging it. When I miss, I know that it was on me.

Got out on the course again this weekend and of course, the range didn't totally translate to my real game yet. The swing changes are just throwing some more unpredictability into my game. My usual fade has turned into a draw, which became a hook by about the 6th hole. Started overthinking it, and over-compensated the other way for the back 9. Luckily, I picked a pretty open course for this experiment and still only lost one ball OB the whole round. Only hit 3 fairways, but managed 7 GIR's and had 3 more up-and-downs to save par. I shot one stroke off my personal best, with an 80. So once again, even my "bad" misses kept me in the game.

I had a handful of excellent shots that showed me I'm on the right track. Two great drives on the front 9, small draws that finished about 280. Hit my 4W about 240 over water on a long par 5 approach. Dropped my 3H right onto the front of the green from 215 out. These are shots I wouldn't have dreamed of last year.

How much is just my swing improving, and how much is coming from the shaft upgrade? Probably a little bit of both. I feel confident the TPT's will be stable and can handle whatever I put on them, and the feel is remarkably consistent. That helps me swing more freely, which is always a good thing.

Love hearing the feedback!

I just finished up a golf trip and before I had left I didn't have time to swap out my hybrid shaft and retrip to put in my TPT 18 Hi hybrid shaft. During a normal round or week this isn't an issue, but where I played 5 rounds with range sessions and such in 4 days that last round I just couldn't get the hybrids going. Can't help but think had I been able to make the switch prior to going that wouldn't have been the case.

Appreciate all the feedback here and on the WRX Forum. Been great to see and look to see a lot more of me here chiming in along the way.

I will do more formal intro later, but my name is Jamie and I am new to TPT (started June 1st) and will be working with the TPT and hopefully have a lot more fun stuff to share with the community here along the way!

Happy to have you here!
