Need help on Prov1 vs X vs Left Dash

Hi everyone, I cant hit balls for a bit due to a procedure but wanted to take advantage of the buy 3 deal.  I have played a prov1 since they switched them in 2017, where I played the prov1x before that.  Over the years, I have shallowed my swing a bit but still hit it plenty high and I thought with plenty of spin.  I was going to buy prov1's but say about the virtual consult and I did it with a titleist rep who said I needed more spin, wanted 7iron to be around 66-7100, wedges around 10k and not worry about driver spin and go fit my driver to that ball.  My numbers are as folllows with a 2025 prov1:

Carry  Club Spd   Ball Spd    Smash    Spin    Launch Ang   Land Ang  Height

SW (54*)          104     83.6         88.8           1.06       8863     31.6                 55.5          92

PW (46*)          130     86            133.8          1.21       8727      26.7                55.8          109

7 Iron (32*)       171     90.7         123.2          1.36       6334     18.9                 51.3           111

Driver (9.5)       272     111            163.7          1.47      2280     10.5                 33.8           86

Just trying to figure out if moving to the X is the move.  Threw me for a serious loop when she said that, I was thinking less spin.  Just wanted to get some opinions.  Thanks

I can see where the Titleist fitter is coming from recommending the X when looking at your spin numbers, but I'm also thinking that the somewhat low spin is cancelled out by what are quite steep descent angles with irons and wedges.

My concern would be the X being excessively floaty into headwinds and crosswinds given the data, but also keep in mind that the differences between the two balls is subtle. Not sure there's really a wrong answer for you.

I am in the exact same situation as well. I did the ball fitting and the Titleist guy recommended to me the V ball not the X. I have played the V ball since the change like you. I am shallow and and hate to have my wedge shots spin around 10k I like them where yours are with the V. I am right at your speed as well. I hated to see the balloon ball with the wedge that comes up 5 yards short.

This as well. Go with the V instead of X unless you see 3 or 4mph gains with the VX ball lol... Or just keep playing the old V ball like I ma thinking of doing.

Are you happy with the way the Pro V1 is working for you or are you looking to change something?  The reason I think that should be a starting point is because, while I can see why someone might say your wedge spin is a bit low, if you like the performance you're getting, adding another 1000 RPMs might be bad for you since your landing angle looks quite steep.  It's easy to get caught up in chasing perfect launch monitor numbers, but at the end of the day you need the performance you're looking for on course.

That is the fear of mine.  Currently, my wedges will spin, short and mid irons will land and stop or bounce back (not so much spin back), and long irons will land and stop almost immediatley.  if I am adding more spin, i get the floaters and a case of the shorts

Yes no real complaints.  I was going to buy them and saw the consult and said hey why not before I buy.  Clearly in my mind I was wrong thinking I spin it to much, I was thinking a lower spin option if anything.  Adding spin never entered my mind until the consult.

That last sentence really hit home, i have no complaints.

Were the numbers on mats? Could be the reason for the lower than expected wedge spin numbers. I think the 7 iron is reasonable as a 32 degree lofted club used to be a 6 iron so 6300 rpm is reasonable. I’d stick with the V1.

I’d stick with the V, I have similar spin and decent angle with irons as you. Even on fast/firm greens I’ve never had an issue with 50°+ decent and spin in the low 6’s.

X balls for me always get floaty and killed into wind.

unless your playing tournament conditions as far as greens go and you’re adept at knock down shots to keep out of the wind, just stick with the V’s

It looks like you would be fine with either. With your speed more spin wont hurt you so id lean X. Your wedge spin does look low but if your landing angle is 55 degrees you should have no problem holding greens.

Yea no issues holding greens whether it’s a 5 iron or a pw

Sounds like you are happy with your on course ball performance across the board then. Certainly dont change if thats the case, especially based off of one fitting on a mat. After a virtual consult they should send you a couple free balls. Try the Xs out on the course a bit and see if theres a difference.

After the 17/19 crossover, a driving force between the two models appeared to be to differentiate them to the greatest degree possible, the player choice more easily made. That eventually depressed the V1’s trajectory to the point that there were many alternatives, including several DTC models. The current model V1 is a complete about face, and as @bcflyguy1 so correctly points out, the differences between it and the X are subtle to the point where they’re at least visual negligible.

IMO this may be a good point to investigate an alternative. Basically, a more “normal” higher compression model. The current TP5x or the Maxfli Tour X, or Chrome Tour (non X) are potential candidates.

Gonna jump on the tail end of this. I'm heading to Bandon next week and wonder if y'all think knocking down the spin with the Left Dash or knocking down the flight with the V1 would be more beneficial in those costal winds?
Winds are forecasted to be 15-25mph.
Spotted rain.

I play the Left Dash now, and it's towards the top of my ideal launch window.

I find that, with the reduction in spin, the trajectory is not nearly as penal as it is against some of the other standard X offerings. I'd say bring Dash.
