Cobra 🐍 crew!

Where are my Cobra fans at?  I’m currently gaming several Cobra’s and I love them all. (Vintage???) S3 Pro CB 5-G, LTDx 5 and 7 wood, King LTD 3 Wood.  All killer clubs and not leaving my bag anytime soon. I’ve come to the conclusion that Cobra is an extremely underrated and under appreciated brand.

I’ve gone almost all in, currently have DS Adapt LS driver and 3 wood, as well as King Tours 4-PW. Loving them and they are excellent clubs!

Time to ask a question I have recently bought, fitted, a set of Cobra Forged Tex irons. Love them, transforming my game back to more iron play. Strong lofts, it works and these irons launch so easy. Age 57 I am getting distance back. A 200 yard 4 iron that gaps well to 2H or 3W with no real need for anything in between. I saw your thread, wondering if others feel the same with these irons?

Probably getting King tour or 3DP this year. Last time I played cobra was the Greg Norman blades in 1997. Still have them in my garage. Glad Cobra now has great looking irons, I've been waiting a long time to come back!

I am currently part of the DS Adapt testing group and I have these:
Adapt Max-K Driver
Adapt Max 5 wood

Adapt Max 7 wood

 

Absolutely incredible clubs, the driver is so good that its staying in the bag for the reset of the season (if not longer). I am hitting it so far and the forgiveness makes me feel like I am cheating. The fairways have been great as well, still doing a lot of testing with them to see if they make it in the bag. The 7 wood is conditional based on the weather that day, the 5 wood is currently going head to head with my 2 iron utility and my Krank 5 wood (its looking good for the Cobra). 

 

I agree with you, Cobra is incredibly underrated and I am so happy that I was selected for this test! Cobra is now at the top of my list for clubs in the future because of this, heck of an experiment and no regrets.

Darkspeed driver, Speedzone 3,5,7 woods, Fly Z XL 4,5,6,7 hybrids and 7 to SW T Rails hybrid irons.

 

I change between 7 and 8 hybrid and 7 and 8 hybrid irons as well as between 7 wood and 4 hybrid.

 

All excellent clubs and allow me to shoot par when playing well.

RadSpeed driver, Darkspeed 3 wood, 2019 King Forged CB/MB irons, and a Widesport Putter 😁.

 

Played MIM Tours before these, and also had the F7, Ltd, and Aerojet drivers drivers and woods in the bag previously. Either a blessing or a curse, but they are so cheap in the used market here - because like you say, underrated, which is why I can afford to keep trying new models quite often.

 

First time with the putter though so we'll see how that goes when the courses open here (preferred Odyssey)

 

Will test out Adapt drivers next week when the Cobra rep is in town. Might have a look at the irons as well if there's time.

I’ve been a fan of their equipment since Puma bought them out, currently using an Aerojet LS 7.5 degree on a Diamana Whiteboard 63TX tipped 1” and probably some of the best irons ever made the 2016 king Forged Tours. I still use a Pre-Puma Dick DeLa Cruz Married Metal Limited for my putter (nothing feels like this putter)

Never found a Cobra putter that I really like. Currently have a cart bag which is a flow set of CB/MB with an Adapt driver and AeroJet 3 & 5 woods. Had snake bite wedges but just didn’t really care for them so my T22’s sit there currently. May give the new wedges a shot this summer. 
 

Also have a carry bag with all LTDx woods and RF copper MB irons and some Vokey wedges. When my game is on there is nothing I enjoy more than the RF irons!

Been golfing for 30 years, but bought my first Cobra club (F9 driver) in 2020 when Covid hit and I started golfing more.

 

I now own (and still have) 34 Cobra clubs that covers my whole bag Driver to Putter.

Darkspeed LS 8° set at 7° here. Haven't found any other driver that handles my low heel miss better than this thing. 

 

I do love the look of the DS Adapt LS. Might have to try it out.

Aerojet OL in 4-SW currently in the bag. Played Pro CBs for a good stint back in the day. Had the LTDx LS driver also in the bag a season but just never got along too well with the Cobra drivers. I’d like to try the new Adapt  series driver though. Played RAW wedges last season as well. Cobra makes some great equipment.

... I think Cobra arguably makes the best Players irons in the game. Cobra by far has the best hosel transition for Players irons and I have played every version since the gaudy orange OG Amp Forged (that thankfully couldn't be seen at address). That includes Fly Z, Tour Forged, MIM, 2nd and 3rd generation Forged Tec's and King Tours that have been in my bag for 2 years. I had a few brief forays with T200's and 2025 P770's but quickly put the KT' back in my bag. I currently have a 2024 King Tec 5 iron to go with my 6-pw KT's and I expect to have the 3DT Tour irons in the bag sooner than later. I am hoping they are a combination of the best of the King Tec and King Tours in one iron.

Great looking putter. I looked on Ebay and all the matches have the married metal in reverse. Was that a proto / tour issue?

This one was number 10999. It was a limited production run towards the end of the married metal. You can find them still on occasion but usually they are absolutely destroyed. There were a lot of variants though and some even with Dick DeLa Cruz milling on them. When he first started making milled putters cobra picked him up for a while.

I have hit Cobra drivers going back to the King Cobra drivers in the 90’s. But basically from the Fly Z+ on I’ve had a Cobra driver in my bag non stop. I get great performance and they just fit my eye. My current DS Adapt LS is a fantastic driver. Have the Adapt hybrids as well in the bag currently

how is the spin for you in the Max K? intrigued by the head especially if you have a higher swing speed. haven't had a chance to go hit it yet, have only hit the X and LS and they are great

my S3 Pro’s are beautiful and feel amazing.

Been off and on with Cobra over the years. At the moment on with my irons Black King Tour/CB combo. 

Haven't played outside yet this season. Hopefully I get along with the turf interaction. 
Haven’t made the jump to the wedges yet. Still rocking Vokey

I used to have some Cobra S2 forged irons, but they didn't stay in the bag too long (finally got my dream mizuno MP68s which are still in the bag today)

Oh and the 3D printed Cobra irons look fantastic though, I would love to demo those sometime.  If they also had some weight ports to be able to change the headweights I would probably have already bought a set just based on what I've heard about them
