I play an all Cobra bag with the exception of my unicorn, an Adams Red Hybrid.

My wife has played an Cobra F6 since she got back into golf. To this day, she murders that thing. I needed some wedges a handful of years ago so I bought some NOS Cobra Trusty Rusty's but didn't think too much about them.  This year I found some killer sales so I looked a little deeper at Cobra.  First, I bought a Vintage Cuda putter. I wanted to try the SIK/LA Golf face and the price was right.  Then I bought an Aerojet driver with a Fuji Atmos Blue Tour Spec. Then an Aerojet 3-wood with an Atmos Tour Spec Black. The last purchase was a set of '22 Forged Tec X's towards the end of the year.

I've always respected what Cobra seems to try to do. I feel like they are trying to push the envelope technology-wise (MIM, 3D printing, etc). I can totally get behind all of that stuff. It doesn't hurt that they are an underrated brand that always performs well and might cost a little bit less than the other big manufacturers.

Anyone playing adapt max k driver? How does it compare with other max models? It is one of the best looking drivers and I always wanted to get one since biocell :)

Had just about every Cobra driver since the Bio Cell and now have the Max-K.  It’s a great driver. I played the Mizuno ST Max the last half of the season in 24, and this Cobra ticks all the boxes for me. Something about the Mizuno head shape didn’t suit my eye, but the Cobra is very very good. My son also switched into the X head and he’s hitting that very long and very straight.

Cobra, at least the woods, are super underrated, I had my eyes opened to the Aerojet LS driver which helped to transform my tee game from what it was with other big brand drivers. The consistency of the spin and the better forgiveness compared to the likes of Taylormade in the same type of LS model was far better for my tee game. I had always played Titleist drivers with the occasional stint with a TM driver but really never got along with TM, Ping or others, yet with the Titleist I could never get the power spin I was looking for without going to a shaft like the Ventus Black. With the success I had with the Aerojet LS and after some YouTube reviews on 2nd swings channel, I went to RD and hit the King Tec hybrid which was a great hybrid compared to others that I had tried.

Currently I am part of the testing group for the below DS-Adapt woods;

DS-Adapt X Driver
DS-Adapt X 3 wood

DS-Adapt X 5 wood

I was already looking to move form the Aerojet LS to the DS-Adapt X driver. I tried the DS-Adapt LS and I wanted to have more forgiveness that I was getting with the AJ LS while still seeing the lower spin with a higher MOI head. I tested these 2 DS-Adapt drivers prior to being selected and was looking to pick up the X driver. I was blessed to be chosen and all of these have exceeded expectations. The biggest winners for me so far are the Driver and 5 wood. I'm still working through the 3 wood but I can feel these will be in the bag for foreseeable future.

I have had one other guy in regular group thus far that went into a fitting thinking he would walk away with the Qi35 LS and ended up with the DS-Adapt X. He even said that there was a bit more distance with the Qi35 but the consistency and accuracy were hard to pass up on the DS-Adapt X while distance differences between the 2 were minimal.

I tell folks, don't sleep on Cobra products, they perform!!

the current line up from Cobra is easily their best looking line up ever.. i will at some point in the near future be ordering a 3,5,and/or 7 wd in the adapt line.  the ff33 adaptor is the best out there.. the black finish is best in class.. everything is great except for the lefty options but even then they do better than a lot of companies.  i may try a couple raw wedges to go with my copper mim tours that should be back in my possession in the next week or 2..

Performance is there. It’s been with Cobra drivers for the last 11 years or so. They just don’t get the money thrown for advertising or paying players to use them.

My driver SS is a bit faster (about 103-105) but relatively comparable. I love the regular Aerojet. I've got the 9.0 head with Kai'li White 60S shaft. I've always responded well to stiffer-tipped shafts and I find the Kai'li White extremely easy to time up. Anyways, I played Aerojet all last year and had my best driving year ever. Very long and forgiving, especially off the toe. It sits in a really nice spin window of about 2300-2500 for me. Sounds and feels really great. I've switched back for the time being to my PING G430 Max for some ineffable reason, but I'll likely switch back.

I'd definitely recommend picking up the Aerojet while you still can, as it's a screaming deal. Depending on your launch characteristics, you'd probably be in the 10.5° head given your swing speed (to keep the spin up).

There is something about the special sauce in the Hot Face that makes the ball feel like it is trampolining off a well struck shot.  My Aerojet configuration didn't work for me (mainly shaft) but initial whacks with my Darkspeed suggest it may have kept a lot of this DNA.  Reportedly the DS-Adapt series has not.

Tried a 430 Max for about two weeks, and hated absolutely everything about it.  Shallow face, turbulators, and the relaxing sound of hitting rocks with an aluminum fry pan.  Biggest driver disappointment of my life.

I have once again joined the Cobra iron ranks.

Just got fit into the new King Tec irons (with KBS C-Taper shafts). First fitting in many years. Got my spin, launch angle and descent angle numbers down a little bit, but MAN was there a jump in distance. Even though the lofts are stronger than my old irons (Callaway X Forged 2018), I'm getting a noticeable boost in base distance. The 7-iron loft is comparable to my current 6 iron, and was lucky if I got that thing close to 190 as of late (I'm getting old). The new 7 iron was CARRYING about 200-205. Blew me away. And once we got it down to the C-Taper shaft, the dispersion numbers were looking solid too! I'll likely grab some of the new KING wedges to match (I like to keep my wedges/irons on brand if possible)....but I want to see them in person first

I'll probably do a driver fitting at some point, but I did just pickup new AI Smoke woods in the offseason, so I need to give them a fair shake before I decide. I must say though, I'm glad to see Cobra smartened up with their new DS adapt system. I really don't like the adapter systems that require you to rotate the shaft if you want to change specs on your woods. Much prefer the ring system that allows you to keep the shaft & grip in the same position.

so, I've had the Aerojet anniversary driver for some months now, but have not really had a chance to game it much. However, I took it out today and it was magic. I hit a lot of fairways, and didn't feel like I was really going at it. This one was the shot of the day, a straight arrow down the left side of the fairway. I can see this staying the bag for a loooong time.

  • 4 weeks later...

My first set of clubs were the Cobra S2 driver, 5 wood and irons and enjoyed them a lot. Then I got lost in the club hoe'ing and the last 6 years i've tried almost all the big brands new clubs until I on a dark friday night with a good drink in my hand in february ordered the new DS adapt x driver with a Diamana WB 63s shaft to put in it and now I don't wan't any other brand. It's been soo good. Started to look at the black King Tour irons also and maybe a 5 wood in darkspeed or DS series. Only thing is if the WB is staying or if I should go with the BB instead for the long run

Just put the Cobra King Tour MIM's back in the bag, they were playing a little long so thought I would try something out and play them 1/2" short since distance doesn't seem to be an issue and they feel great.  They look great at address, slim top line but definitely more forgiving than a standard CB.

Just got an absolute steal on some Cobra King Tours - excited to join the crew!

As did I! I found Cobra King Tours 3-GW with MMT 125TX for an insanely low price on ebay (being left handed helps a lot).

As for the rest of the conversation -- I very recently switched to a Cobra Adapt LS. I played the F9 in driver and loved it, it was soo quick. The 2023 King Tec hybrid is great, still looking to see the 2025 in person.

However, I have not had much success with their fairway woods - Typically too spinny for my delivery.

Bought the Darkspeed. 10.5* with the Kai'li White stiff shaft. Played it for the first time and it is a bullet. Really like the trajectory. And it is long

As much as I'm still fiddling with my DS LS Driver, I decided to order an X 3W and 5W - Cobra is selling them at direct discount right now, and is allowing customs on in-stock shafts.  Great, as I got them in the same shaft as the driver.

Things are absolute rockets.  More in love with them than the driver right now.  But then again, I never really love my driver.

I loved your break downs in the Adapt post, hearing how good the X models are made me go out and swing a few compared to the Max fairways I have....not gonna lie, a part of me wishes I went with the X in the fairways (at least the 5 wood). Thats not me saying the Max fairways are bad, but the X just had something behind them that....I cant explain it but I liked it a lot.

I have loved being part of the testing and the Cobra Max-K driver is just incredible. I feel like a Cobra sales person, I got multiple friends to try and buy some of the new Adapt line.

My friend group that I play a lot with have the following (bought or on order):
Friend 1: Driver (LS), 3 Wood (LS), 7 Wood (X)
Friend 2: Driver (Max-K - on order)
Friend 3: Driver (Max-K), 3 Wood (LS - on order), 5 Wood (LS)

I am both mad and happy about Cobra: Happy because the current adapt line is some of the best clubs I have ever had in my 30 years of golfing and mad (at myself) because I didnt look at more of their previous releases. I almost picked up an Aero Jet Driver a few years ago, and then had the Darkspeed driver in my cart multiple times....but man the Adapt line is just perfection.

ive had 2 players at my club switch to them after trying mine. Just ordered a set for a player I coach today as well.
