Help deciding between SkyTrack Plus and Uneekor EML (and possibly BLP)!

Recommended Posts

I'm looking in the 2500-3000price range for a monitor and have basically narrowed it down to the SkyTrack Plus (ST+) and Uneekor Eye Mini Lite (EML)

Although, I should add I'm also open to BLP (or other Bushnell options), I just haven't done as much research there b/c it seems similar to the EML as far as data points you get.

Speaking of data points, that brings me to my MOST important criteria when selecting a monitor...

I'm really wanting to work a lot on face strike quality - so knowing where I'm hitting on the face. Yes, I know I could use impact stickers, but those probably won't work with the LM, and I do want it on EVERY shot (at least for a while - this would lead to the obvious choice of the EML since it has the impact picture and slow motion video of impact (although it still doesn't show exact location on a graphic, but nothing in the price range does that I'm aware of).

BUT, I'm also really wanting to work on face angle control - so face angle and face to path. This would lead to the obvious choice of the ST+. But, I'm not sure how accurate that data point on the ST+ really is - which is one of my questions for the forum.

The issue is that it seems I cannot have both!! The EML does not show face angle or face to path, while the ST+ does not show face impact location at all.

Another big thing I do care about is that ST+ does not show AOA, while EML does.

Smaller things that are not a big deal to me (unless I'm overlooking this stuff, please say so if I am)
-ST+ requires a "backdoor" connection to GSPro, while EML has official connection (with sub price)
-some people say ST+ is inferior to EML when it comes to accuracy - I do want an accurate unit, but there are mixed reviews here
-EML requires gaming PC, ST+ can run on Ipad
-ST+ has the 2-3 second delay, EML supposedly has negligible delay

Other things to note:
-I am planning on setting up and breaking down everything for each session - we use the garage for other things
-I am using a Spornia net, and plan to NOT set up a screen/projector at this time. I'm really just interested in the data numbers and can use a TV for that.
-I am NOT really planning to play courses in the short term, just the "range" sessions to get the data.

I'm open to any and all feedback. Some of my main questions are:
-Is the face angle and face to path data on ST+ really accurate? And is it something you look at often?
-Is the EML's accuracy really that superior to the ST+?
-How great is the EML's face impact picture/video? Are you using it a lot?
-Am I overlooking something obvious with my analysis?
-Wildcard - should I look more into Bushnell products? At a glance, I think the data offered is the same as the EML.

TLDR

-Should I get ST+ that has face angle data but no face impact/location data

-OR the EML which has face impact picture/video, but no face angle data

Thanks so much!!

Can’t comment much on the Uneekor but I own a Skytrak+. And I know what you mean about getting mixed reviews because most people seem to not understand how these units actually work. I’ll address a few of your concerns for the ST+ below but the TL;DR for any LM is you need to know which results are measure vs calculated and they don’t make that easy.

- The Skytrak+ is as accurate as you need when it comes to distance and spin. That one is a nonissue IMO.

- The OG Skytrak had a delay but I notice no delay at all with my ST+. That’s a nonissue too.

- I use impact tape and it works fine. I’d also wager you won’t need or want to use it as much as you may think. You hit enough balls and see the results, and in little time you know where you made contact. I may use it in 1 out of 10 sessions just to verify what I think is happening but that’s it.

- ST+ face angle and club path is accurate unless you’re at an extreme. For example, you hit one off the hosel and it might calculate some wacky numbers that you know aren’t right, but again, you’ll come to know what’s accurate and what isn’t after using it for a short while.

- The ST+ does not require you to put stickers on your club which afaik Uneekor does if you want club data. May not be an issue for you but that’s a deal breaker for me.

- If you’re just using the range, ST+ software is widely considered to be the best by a mile. Now that they include course play I don’t mess with anything 3rd party. As far as GSPro goes, it’ll work with ST+ but the setup is a PITA, and once course play was available I ditched GSPro and E3 altogether.

If I had it to over again I’d 100% go with the ST+ unless I win the lottery and can afford a GC4. That unit costs 4 times more which is what you’ll need to spend to get a better all around package IMO.

I had pretty much decided on the EML over the weekend, now I'm not so sure lol.

But I do appreciate your insight, makes me feel better if I do go with the ST+

Do you find that you wish you had AOA data? Thanks

Good summary - I also have a ST+ and think it's a good product. Agree with your points on impact. You don't need a machine to tell you where you made impact.

Never used the EML.

@PuffyC @NittanyCPA Have either of you ever used your ST+ outside? I’ve seen mixed reviews and just wondering what your experiences might have been.

"They say a putt won't go in if it doesn't get to the hole. Putts don't go in once they are past the hole either.". (Ben Crenshaw)

He was hitting it so pure he had to apologize to the sweet spot.

Nope. I use a Trackman (not mine) outside on occasion.

When I'm outside I'm usually playing. If I wanted data outside on a regular basis I'd sell the ST+ and get a GC Quad. That thought crosses my mind more and more, we'll see 😂
