Ping Eye2 BECU's

I just had to post a pic of my newest purchase which I'm kind of giddy about. I've probably owned 6 or 7 different sets of Ping Eye2's over the last almost 40 years but I finally found a matching number set of them in wonderful condition that I didn't have to take out a second mortgage to buy. I'm stoked!!

Just before the pandemic hit, it seemed like Ping BeCu (and BeNi) prices were coming down a bit.  Or so I  like to remember, LOL.  Then, once we hit pandemic golf, the prices shot back up, sometimes to crazy levels.  

 

I guess that's what happens with popular items, especially those that have a mystique about them.

Yea, they have gone plum crazy here lately. $700-$900 seems to be the asking price now for leftie becu's. I lucked out and found a seller who wasn't insane.😂

I got a set of BECU's 3-9iron off evilbay a number of years ago now when the prices were low. The seller sold the PW and SW separately and the PW went for more than I bought the 3-9 for. Prices of old Eye 2's jumped heaps a year or 2 after I got mine. 

I never gamed them in the day so wanted to try them to see what the fuss was. No wow factor for me and didn't hit them any better or worse for that matter than the multitude of 1980's and 1990's I rotate through the bag. I did seem to be 1 club short iron number for number against clubs of the same time era. No idea of any of my clubs lofts.

Great, I'm now old enough to where my first set of irons I got back when I was 13ish are now "classic".  Awesome find.

I didn't start golfing until I was 35 so these must have been fairly new in 88. Guess I should do some research.

The PW rocks. Was digging with another wedge I had late summer '24 and was loving the sole.

Just refinished mine, you might consider doing this and having them tumbled so their original patina can form again. Someone polished yours up.

Mine were just soaked in coke. The patina will be back in no time.

Took my Eye2 becu's out on their maiden voyage yesterday for 9 holes. I've always heard guys talk about the feel. Some say they're nothing special while others say they almost feel forged. I know feel/sound is personal but I think the biggest compliment I can give them is they feel very similar to my S55's. They just feel very solid. I'm very happy with my purchase.
