Watching Åberg covered in the classic trefoil reminds me that the three-stripes adidas 'performance' logo is just good but not great. For years, however, they had a golf-specific flag logo that I thought was fantastic and criminally underused and undercirculated? I'm no fan of Nike but their marketing is generally consistent worldwide. With adidas it often seems the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing and/or North American and European campaigns and product lines are wildly divergent.

 

It also took adidas years to grasp that they didn't need the wordmark, just the three-stripes logo which is recognizable enough. It looks better, cleaner, less jock-like.

 

adidas are famous (now) for mining their history and there's an 'Originals' golf line which Åberg is obviously promoting.

Sorry bro. It’s usually worse on weekends like  this with fun things planned ( watching masters. Playing in a tournament).  Because you know that next Monday will suck to high heaven.  Your phone will ring 10x worse. With every jabronie on earth wanting to know what miracles you preformed over the holiday weekend .  This is just how it is if you’re on the service side of society.   I’ve already planned to not answer the phone till Tuesday. Which will cause several angry texts to come my way. Then I’ll ignore those till Wednesday out of principle.  Hopefully by then , 2 13 hour days will have me somewhat caught up. But it’s doubtful.  Expectations after a holiday ( it is in the south ) are always fueled by drunken imagination and unrealistic optimism.  
 

or. I’ll take Monday off. Answer the phone and make fun of their questions.  While on the course.  I’ve done it before. But it always backfires in some way.  This was never an issue pre 2008 ish. Once we were tied to a phone. It was all crap from there. Yay !  🤣.

He shouldn’t be in this field.  His mind is toast. Truly.  He’s not the kind of mind that recovers from this. I have a good buddy that is this way. In his late 30s still trying to  play pro. He can play.  But he’s never had the mind to do it.  He doesn’t embrace the suck. He isn’t a “ fixer “.  He’s a “ if I get lucky I can front run “.  I see max as the same. He flew too close to the sun trying to get better. What he needed to do is keep cashing checks. And see if he could build a mental game that didn’t rely on social media likes for affirmation.   We all get high on our own likes… but you won’t catch Scotty or Spieth living on X worrying about that crap.  They embrace it all.  And expect to suck if they make  a change

I’ve always jived With the kid.  He’s woefully misunderstood .  In my opinion.  Socially weird , and just not given much due for his ability and thinking out of the box.  He’s very high in logic. Very low in social EQ . That’s not a sin.  But most emoticons ( my term for folks who emote at  every corner ) don’t like people like him.  I can see it because I’m similar. But I’m absolutely cool with folks not liking him. That’s part of the draw. I hate being on a bandwagon.  It’s way more fun to win with the dark horse. Or the castaway.  He does what he does unapologetically.  And is terribly famous because of it. So far he’s not been wrong about much.

Mostly agree with you. But cocky comments earlier in his career (about Augusta for example) rubbed people the wrong way.

I’m plenty fine with different. He doesn’t move my needle much and when he took apart Winged Foot, a personal favorite, with blatant disregard for how you’re “supposed” to play it, well, I didn’t like it. 😀.   Plus the 67 par Augusta comment….  Might be right for him but….
