GT3 & mid launch shaft testing

First time poster long time lurker around the forums. I am on the hunt for a driver shaft combo for the season.

 

Current setup is a GT3 9* with a LA Golf DJ 65 s flex that I was fit for last fall and have been relatively happy with but I can’t help but wonder if there is something better. 
 

A little about me. 
-6-8 HC 
-SS hovers in the 104-106 range

-Smooth tempo (majority of the time 😂)

-Iron play is my strength

-Driver off the tee has always been my weakest part which is still ok but can cost me strokes when not 

-My bad tendency is to get a little long and quick in transition which leads to a pull hook. 
-Bad rounds are typically tied to an errant shot or two off the tee which lands me in trouble or penalty strokes

 

Always been fit indoors as it’s the only option by me but when outdoors my SS it jumps to 106-110. I have always been suspicious and had it confirmed when I have taken multiple lessons and instructor has a TM.

 

The candidates I am looking at, all listed in playing length:

 

-GD HD 6s 45” 

-Ventus Blue Velocore+6s 45.5” 

-UST LinQ M40x Blue 6s non trspx 45.5” 

-Speeder NX blue 6s 45.25” 

 

I also get these are all varied in bend profile but it’s been a little varied for me what I get a long with over the years. Some previous models I enjoyed were Motore F3 which felt phenomenal and really high ball speed but I would get some wild ones due to instability at times which ultimately landed me in NX Blue.

 

I prefer shafts that have a lot of feel like easy to load and decent kick but stability can sometimes be tough to find in that profile.

 

NX Blue has served me well for a couple seasons on course but when I was fit for GT3 it wasn’t working out. I have a LA DJ 75 s in my 3wd that is a phenomenal setup and will tough to get out of my bag anytime soon. In the fitting the 65 seemed to match up well but haven’t been sold on course.

Aiming to play at least a full round with each before narrowing it down. Will report back and if you have any suggestions or thoughts feel free to share.

After some extensive on course testing this is what I came away with.
 

-UST LinQ M40x Blue 6s non trspx 45.5”: this has been the winner. I was a little unsure of it to start. The feel was different. The best way to describe it is it likes to have a decent move put on it and it just comes to life. Stable feel with a nice loading sensation and just explodes through the ball. For an off the rack option this thing is a sleeper. Tight dispersion and handles misses very well. I definitely think it competes with Velocore. It really has given me confidence to put a solid swing on it and not worry about it going off line. I have hit some unreal drives with this thing. My league buddies have made several comments about the distance and accuracy I have had with it which is always some good confirmation. This is looking like the setup for the season after range and multiple 9 hole rounds. 

 

-GD HD 6s 45” : this was a bit of a head scratcher, decent feel more one piece and launched higher than everything else. It was just a bit inconsistent to time up and I don’t need higher launch so no dice. 

 

-Ventus Blue Velocore+6s 45.5” : I played this the most this season due to the feel and just not being a little unsure of the LinQ feel wise. It was really solid to start and it is definitely better for me compared to OG blue. It did start to show some of its inconsistency the more I played it. 

 

-Speeder NX blue 6s 45.25” : I played this last season and it will sit as a back up. It’s decent but a little softer than I would like for everyday play but I like it when my swing is feeling shaky and it loads easier. 
 

-LA Golf DJ Series 65s: this is what I was fit for on paper and it’s decent but it’s a bit hot or cold on course. I have it and three wood and it’s amazing in that club but just doesn’t vibe in driver for me.
