Purchased an item on BST.  9 days later the item is still sitting at the original drop location per tracking number.  Shipping company no help at all.

thoughts?

Are you working with the seller on getting a resolution?  They could like go in person to the drop location to see what the delay is.

Going through something similar.  I bought a set of irons and seller shipped them right away USPS.  They left the facility then have gone in limbo for 9 days now with no updates.  Seller seems accommodating and asked if I wanted a refund, i'm trying to give USPS some time but they have been zero help other than "storm delays".

It will show. Been over 30 days twice within the last 2 years (sellers both used usps) but I never asked for a refund. I could have gotten one(they offered) but due to past experience I know what usually happens 99% of the time. It shows up. If seller is in comms with you and has a good track record wait it out unless you need the $ back. Not surely why anyone uses post office anymore for packages with pirateship always having much better rates in comparison.

I’m on a time crunch more than anything.  I need 2 shafts.  I don’t want to source 2 more and end up with 4.  Why anyone would willingly use USPS is beyond me

yah just went through this

bought a driver, and seller shipped promptly USPS

I live on the east coast, the package went from the midwest to NJ, then to Texas and stayed there for a few days with no movement.  I asked the seller to launch an "inquiry" with USPS, which they were happy to do.  Lo and behold as they headed to the PO to do the inquiry, it magically started to move and ended back in NJ lol.  Few days later it landed with me.  Whole thing took a couple weeks.

Moral of the story?  USPS sucks.  I highly suggest pirate ship and using their UPS option.  Fed Ex has been great for me too, but I don't think pirate ship gives you that option. The seller that I worked with btw, was great to work with, and he tried what he could to help me.  My seller was very responsive, and kept in touch throughout the process.  I'd ask your seller to do the inquiry thing. I've heard that works.

Unfortunately I am just not in a position to wait 30 days. If the package starts moving and giving me updates I can try to be a little more patient but I’m just not willing to wait multiple weeks hoping I get somewhat of an update.

I think that golf club boxes are easy to overlook and easy to bury with other boxes.  Several times I've had to tell the driver (fedex, and ups) to look for a golf club box after they had been searching for more than a few minutes.  Think about a golf club box being right behind a retainer on a shelf, very easy to overlook.

I've had issues in the past but so far they have been rectified by honest people reporting an erroneous delivery.  One time I noticed the delivery pic was one of my neighbors step.

Similar to what others have said, USPS is garbage,…but…I agree with those who say it will show up eventually

It was about a year ago but I sold 5 items, using USPS for all 5… 4 of them took longer than a week. 2 of them took over two weeks.

i don’t use USPS anymore for any packages.  It’s just awful.

I recently purchased a driver here and it took six days to make it 300 miles in Alabama, I had it in New Mexico a few days later.  The box was beat to hell and it looked like it had been opened from the damage and re-sealed, luckily the club was not damaged.  I had another purchase off of eBay that tracking said the seller picked up the item from the post office the day after he dropped it off. I received it a few days later.  I am not sure what is going on with USPS right now but their tracking and ship times are terrible!  I can't imagine anything taking 30 days to arrive, but the way things are going nothing would surprise me anymore.  You might contact your local PO and see if they can give you any information.  I hope it works out for you!

If you are on a time crunch did you communicate this with the seller?  You could have requested shipping with UPS or FedEx and if the seller couldn't accommodate you could decide not to enter into the sale.  Its too late to do anything about it now obviously.

I bought a driver late last year which was shipping from IL to WI only about 6 hours away.  It was shipped USPS priority and moved to the St Louis hub and sat there for 5 weeks.  After 6 weeks I finally got the package.  USPS is a joke nowadays and not dependable at all.

Every carrier has their horror stories and everyone has an opinion on which is worse. If I'm shipping small items, I'll use USPS. I don't have much of an issue with them on the smaller things. If it's a club or clubs, I'll use FedEx/UPS for that.

Sort of a grey area with personal sales IMO. USPS sucks but is many times cheapest so thats what sellers will pick, but its not the sellers fault that USPS inherently sucks. The item 99% of the time WILL get to where it's going and the buyer just has to deal with that OR specify they dont want USPS and are in a hurry.

Ergo, expectations and timeline should be discussed when doing online sales.

Private sellers arent Amazon.com which buyers seem to expect the same level or 2-day shipping and free returns/service from these days.

Then you (and @dubogey) should have paid full price and bought it from a retailer. Cheap, fast, and easy - pick two as they say.

The seller shouldnt be refunding you prior to you receiving the package and/or the carrier confirming it's lost and is in dispute with them carrier/seller for reimbursement.

Agreed 100%.  I am well aware that their is an inherit risk in buying second hand clubs, however no one expects to buy something on the BST, and then not receive it.  Additionally, any retailer could ship USPS as well and we would be in the same position.  In my defense, I did ask that he not USPS and offered to pay for the extra to use UPS.  USPS has confirmed it's lost but they are going to search for it for a few days before closing the case.  Once its closed I feel like I am entitled to a refund.  As a seller, my job is to get the buyer their item, and I know if they didn't receive it I would refund then take it up with USPS.

I've found, when a package is idle for a week or past it's expected delivery date (even by one day), you can call USPS and open a lost item investigation (or whatever they call it), and it will have a scan the next day - either delivered or arrived at next destination.  You only need the tracking number, so buyer or seller can do it.  If it's less than 7 days past the delivery date, they'll tell you to just wait.  Don't accept that.  Insist on an investigation.

Ditto!  90% of the time when I check Pirate Ship, UPS prices are cheaper than USPS.  The other 10%, the difference is less than $1.

Tbh I have no idea why, but ALL logistics services are a clownshow lately.

I've had multiple late deliveries with Amazon of all places, UPS from retailers which was historically the best of them all, tons of Fedex late by DAYS, and of course week+ with the USPS goofballs.

The best has been LazerShip or some such that Nike and TJMax/Marshalls use sometimes, which is hilarious.

Once USPS closes the investigation with no update I likely will.  Seller has been extremely cool about it.  Obviously if they happen to show up at some point after the refund I will promptly send the money back.

I disagree with that.  I think unless the buyer specifies a specific shipping method or wants it by a certain date, the seller uses what ever is service they choose.

If when you purchased the item you said “please don’t use usps as the shipping method” prior to agreeing to the price, I would agree with your statement.

I agree. If the seller wants to pay more for shipping and deal with the extreme headache of shipping issues that happen almost every time. That's their right.

No... seller. That was sarcasm. USPS costs more and delivers less. Why anyone continues to use them to ship golf clubs is baffling to me.

Hmm.  USPS is usually the lowest cost option for ground service when I compare them.  Occasionally Fedex is lower but not too often.    UPS is usually the highest.

I usually negotiate the price and then offer the buyer whatever shipping they choose as a pass thru.  Removes any of this concern.  Also gives them an option to purchase the shipping label if they get a better deal than me.

i sold a driver and shipped it usps a while ago and it sat in "label created" for 2.5 weeks. once i started the search request, it just randomly showed up delivered two days later, but usps kept emailing me for six weeks saying they were continuing to search and to hold tight.  Finally i got an email saying it was indeed lost, but had they checked the tracking, they would have seen it was delivered 40 days prior 😂

Now that they've added the extra $18 charge for boxes over 30" long it's not even close. With Pirate Ship it costs me around $12-$15 through UPS compared to $30-$40 through USPS. Combine that with the embarrassing performance that USPS turns in time after time and its not even a competition.
