Leupold died

I have a Leupold Gx 3i that suddenly died after about 5 years. Was working fine until it abruptly stopped working mid-round. Screen brightness ok but numbers disappeared and now only get a faint red circle. Replacing battery did nothing. Called Leupold and tech support could only offer to sell me a new one! Is life expectancy really only about 5 years?

That's a bummer, 5 years only. Unfortunately with electronics today once they pack it in, it's more cost effective to just go & buy a new one. For one, next to impossible to find a technician that will even look at it let alone try to repair it & two, where do you find parts?

I used to have a Leupold and enjoyed it, but someone snatched it off my cart near the clubhouse. Found a Bushnell Pro XE open box at Edwin Watts. Someone bought 2 of them for a tournament so they had a backup and returned one unused. Paid $350 and love it 4 years later. No issues. Still on the original battery too.

No plans to get anything else for a long while.

Absolutely. And sadly I'm not good enough anymore to care about the exact yardage to the pin. Just happy to hit somewhere near the green.

My Leupold had issues with the display after years of use and was well out of warranty and I was offered to replace it with a very generous discount. I was very happy with their solution since I didn’t expect anything if they couldn’t fix it in house.

Oh I knew it couldn't or wouldn't be fixed. They offered me a discount as well but nowhere near generous enough for me to buy another Leupold, esp after reading so many similar stories on line

They used to have a lifetime warranty. Anything wrong they would fix it or just send you anew one. Too many people took advatage of it so they stopped it like 7 years ago...

Of course and that's understandable. But when the life span of the product is that short, why buy another one? Hello Bushnell A1 - which is roughly the same price they would have sold me another Leupold
