Very very unlikely but the venues do raise the chances from (made up stat) 1% to 2.5%.  

 

He does have a serious chance at Quail Hollow next month as he's just lifted all that pressure off his shoulders and he loves the course and has a brilliant record there.  Then if he's 2/2, who knows?  But I am not sure Oakmont is such a great fit and i's much more of a level playing field.  My prediction is he wins the next one but ends the season on 2 (6 overall).

Rors might call it good .... been at it a long time despite relatively young yet. Still full of amazing talent (long game) but not the grind. He may stumble on one or two the next decade but he isn't grinding for them.

I expect him to be in the mix at Quail Hollow, but there are so many top guys suited to that course. The Open is such a wild card, I think he needs a decent weather week to contend.

I truly don’t think we will ever see a calendar grand slam; and I think it is going to be another 20+ years before we see another career grand slam.

Obviously will be a big part of the conversation leading up to the PGA and as long as he's in contention there. If he can pull that one off then it will really ramp up.

At this point I’m thinking about whether or not Spieth can get it done at the PGA. Obviously, that would make him the seventh golfer in history to win the Grand Slam. Some are saying Schauffele seems likely to get it done as well.

We all exaggerate slightly to make a point.

 

But like I said, 2 majors and the Players has never been done before (I checked). This thread is asking him to do that plus 2 more majors. It might be within the realm of statistical possibility but for all intents and purposes that probability is close to 0.

 

Going back further only Tiger and Hogan have won 3 modern majors in a season. And winning back-to-back majors alone is very rare, Nicklaus only did it once for example. Rory did it in 2014, it's a big ask for him to do it again even at a golf course which he loves.

PGA - driver’s course … past success at Quail Hollow

US Open - Big boy course at Oakmont

Royal Portrush - old course record there of 61 before the mods - home country - played there in Oct 

 

Wonder what the betting lines are at?

I feel like Rory will contend at Oakmont. He’s become such a good US Open player and really thrives at these tougher set ups.

I change my previous statement of not seeing a career grand slam for another 20+ years. I think scottie gets in done in the next 4 years.

Agree. Has seemed to struggle a little bit at these tournaments though. I wonder if he needs an easier US open to win one.
