So is the Rave about the PXG ETX true? I pick my ball around the Greens and 150yds in. I just ordered a Dozen PXG X after reading lots of raving reviews. Anyone here give any insight?

I love the X, but could play either.

I too had to try and can say I'm very impressed with the overall performance of the Tour X. It's a great ball. Factor in the current price point and it's very tough to beat.

I got a dozen of these through PXG in exchange for doing a "fitting" over the phone, so I was able to try them out without any bias because I didn't pay for them. I'm also somewhat of a golf ball addict so I have a bunch of similar 3 piece urethane balls to compare them to, and I play often enough to give them all a good go. that said, IME they are really close to all the other 3 piece urethane balls coming out of Vietnam. for someone like myself who is a decent ball striker (but whos game is limited by shot placement) I benefit from a ball with a premium feel and a urethane cover; multi-piece, low spin on driver but higher on irons/wedges etc, but the nuances afforded by paying ProV1 prices vs say something like the PXG, Vice, or the Cut, are lost on my game.

that said if you're looking for a better than decent ball for a good enough price that you wont be upset when you fly the green into the back yard of that particular house on that particular par 3 that you have to to carry 20 yards of water in front of the green and exactly place your shot because the green is crowned in the middle....... this is a good ball for that.

My insight is that anyone who raves about a golf ball with no qualification as to user applicability is being incentivized to do so. As that is PXG’s standard modus operandi, I have no motivation to make a financial statement in purchasing them. Could be a good ball, but I won’t know unless I find one lying about.

Usually that leads to a more positive bias when someone gets something for free.

What in your eyes is raves? Like someone going "this is the only ball I'll ever use?" or "this is a really good ball that people should try?" Cause I've gone and said these are good golf balls which they are, they played like anything else high end on the market but I have received no incentives from PXG or any other ball brand I've talked about here.

But what they do sometimes and Wilson is a 2+1 deal and in this day and age when things are tougher for people paying less and getting more for a ball that's 99% as good as what's on tour and that's why I'll mention them and the Wilson often.
